Gastineau Channel
[edit]Hello Baily'sMacomb, I provided this information to provide other direction to look for the name's origin for the Channel other than a British national man. The references provided with the article confirm that the name's origin of the Channel is unclear. I provided a link and reference to demonstrate that the Gastineau name is an old French name just like Juneau, not British: that is a fact. I did not claim it is a proof of the channel origin's name.
Also, please take note that the prononciation in French for Gastineau and Gatineau is the same; the 's' is silent.
There are two places that I know of in North America that bare Gatineau or Gastineau name. A city in Québec and the Channel in Alaska. The city of Gatineau Québec was name after the French soldier and trader.
Joe Juneau, one of the founder of Juneau Alaska, was from Québec. Is it possible that he had one of his partner name Gastineau? May be the guy Gastineau was a British subject because he was born in Canada.
Links between Québec and Alaska exist. As an anecdote, Sarah Palin bears her husband name. Palin's family name is also an old French name. Just look it up in the Dictionnaire Généalogique Tanguay: http://bibnum2.banq.qc.ca/bna/dicoGenealogie/
Anyway, I am asking you to repost what I already posted so that the people who read the article on the Gastineau Channel have other direction to look for the name's origin.

Conquistador
[edit]Hi, I saw your changes to Conquistador and its talk page, and wondered how I had overlooked that IP while chasing what I'm convinced is one person through a host of IPs and several signons. Several people have been working on this problem; those that I know of are WP:PLANTS regulars. Thank you for analyzing the mess on Conquistador, I'd lost heart for that one.
For important background, please read this archive.
This person likes to use automatic translation with cut-and-paste, and also torments other editors. Other IPs with similar behaviour include 95.120.185.55, 88.15.203.77, 88.19.159.99, 95.120.192.64, 85.251.99.49, 83.44.49.151, 80.30.158.174, 88.19.158.244, 81.44.170.107. For an interesting perspective on this person, see this Spanish change. There's rarely a dull moment in wikipedia. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 23:45, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Article Feedback deployment
[edit]Hey Baily'sMacomb; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:49, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
