Welcome
[edit]Hello, BTLizard, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you very much for your contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The Five Pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page

- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article

- Manual of Style
You might also want to consider changing your username before you get too invested in your current one. Although you are allowed to use just about any name, many Wikipedians encourage others to use real names. I would suggest that you do this. I can certainly understand that you might be uncomfortable using your real name online, but, in this case, I recommend that you choose an alias that resembles a real name. For instance, my name is Nat Krause, but I could just as well have a username such as "Eli Miller" or "Abe Sokolov".
If you are choosing a pseudonym, please do not use the names of famous people or fictional characters. An obscure literary reference is probably all right. As always, please avoid anything that could be considered offensive or inappropriate.
Note that, on Wikipedia, you can use spaces and capital letters; for instance, "T. K. Truong" is possible, rather than simply "tktruong".
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!—Nat Krause 12:58, 6 October 2005 (UTC), (Talk!)
Hi BTLizard. Please note that I've archived or removed your recent request for investigation. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Requests for investigation are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Thanks for your efforts. :) Petros471 10:59, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- No problem :) Just that you usually get a quicker response from AIV. RFI reports can take days or weeks to be processed, by which time it is too late to block (for IPs). Petros471 11:04, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
WW2 Casualties
[edit]Can somebody block the IP address of that vandal?--Woogie10w 12:59, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
Hi BTLizard (I like the username!). Just to clarify what WP:AIV is about and why Roland Scull didn't really belong on it: AIV is there for specific and repeated cases of vandalism, about which the offending user has been warned on their user talk page - see here for the complete list and under what circumstances they are applied. There's a rough heirarchy, starting with {{test}} and running up to {{test4}} (which is basically "do that again and you're blocked").
The Roland Scull article wasn't properly vandalism anyway, at worst it was a "candidate for speedy deletion" as a non-notable person, once blanked it was a candidate for speedy deletion as "blanked by author". See WP:CSD for a list of the criteria and which templates should be applied. Tagged articles are placed on a list which administrators trawl through regularly, deleting articles which meet the criteria. (I am not an admin, by the way). You're free to "speedy tag" articles, but please make sure they meet the applicable criteria. If you'd like to know more about the processes and systems that apply to deleting articles, by the way, see this article. Regards, Tonywalton | Talk 11:29, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
My RfA
[edit]Thank you for the trust that you had in me when you supported my Request for Adminship. The nomination ended successfully and I am actually overwhelmed by the support that I received. Thanks again! -- Kim van der Linde at venus 06:31, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Pop Punk Revival Merge Discussion
[edit]Saw you on the Punk WikiProject list... Your input is valued! - Sir, please check out whats going on there Talk:Pop_punk_revival and add you opinion to the "Merge Discussion" Xsxex 23:08, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk. Also, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 06:45, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Reconsider vote for Dr.S. Hussain Zaheer Memorial High School
[edit]I would like to ask you to reconsider your creation of the AfD for Dr.S. Hussain Zaheer Memorial High School. With a little bit of research, it is clear that the school is indeed notable, and the additional information has been added to the article with material from the school's web site and several references from The Hindu, India's main national newspaper. With its management and operation by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, the school has a unique science program that allows students to learn from India's top scientists, and to have heard from several recent Nobel Prize in Chemistry laureates. The school competes in, and has won, at the top levels of sport in the state. I strongly suggest that all those who previously voted to Delete should re-read the article and reconsider their vote. - Sorry not to reply before now - I've been moving house and only just now got back online. Anyway, I imagine it's all sorted now. BTLizard 17:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. This AfD had to be one of my more spectacular "saves"; articles that were destined for near-certain deletion that could be improved to a point where consensus was that the article was notable. Yes, the issue was resolved successfully, and I have chosen to ignore the fact that it took you over four months to reply. Thanks again. Alansohn 17:49, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Please revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gardendale High School

Jeez that bot is fast! PS, I am starting a list...Greatest lines from AfD's... on my User page just to preserve this!--killing sparrows 06:39, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Bridge
[edit]Waterloo Bridge is also a broadly similar structure (cf. [1] and [2]). I can't remember if Waterloo Bridge also has it's name spelled out on the side, I shall have to check next time I'm there. Neither can be confused with this though [3]! It does amaze me how often foreign tourists mix them up- usually when they're standing right in front of one or the other (image google "London Bridge" and you might see what I mean). It is fairly distinctive, imho. Cheers, Badgerpatrol 16:42, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Careerism
[edit]Thanks a lot for the information. Having an idea of when it was actually used should make it much easier to find sources for it. I hope to be able to take care of a lot of the things on my to-do list, now that it's the end of term, and help is always appreciated. --Sopoforic 16:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Please...
[edit]Clear up what you mean at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/A Tree Full of Secrets. Thanks in advance.--Whsitchy 04:50, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Deletion review Kari Schull et al
[edit]You participated in the AfD for Kari Schull where the nominator is attempting to overturn the "keep" decision at [deletion review Kari Schull]. This discussion is linked to 3 others the previous day, where the author of the articles is attempting to use the "keep" at Kari Schull to overturn the rejection of his other similar articles. Interesting potential precedents for the applicatrion of BIO, or for the reform of special case notability criteria --Kevin Murray 18:48, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Naked Neame
[edit]Thanks for that info. I really thought it was even longer ago than that, but I'm probably mistaken - or maybe, once he got started, he couldn't stop! Deb (talk) 17:33, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
National Socialism disambiguation page
[edit]The term national socialism was used by Trotsky and his followers to describe theory of socialism in one country. For example see this and discussion at article's talk page. -- Vision Thing -- 13:02, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Message from WikiProject Punk music
[edit]Hello!
You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.
We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.
Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!
You are receiving this message because you have previously identified yourself as a member of WikiProject Punk music, either because your name appears on the Participants page or because you have placed the project userbox on your user page. As a courtesy, if you have left the project, retired from Wikipedia, or simply no longer wish to be an active project member, please remove the userbox from your user page. This will remove you from Category:WikiProject Punk music members and help the project to keep its active membership list up-to-date. |

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
