[edit]Hey,
Thanks! I base all my drawing on first hand sources some of which was provided to me by people from wikipedia, and if you look at the picture history originally I did have the eagle facing sinister but a user form France told me to change it so I did. I still don't know why but the eagle faces different directions for the First and second empire, anyway If you can find me a first hand source picture for either that would be good, so I can improve it some more. Disambiguation link notification for February 10
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Slains Pursuivant, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Stirling (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

CoA of Sweden, small version
[edit]Hi, why do you keep changing the small version of the CoA of Sweden here? I have never seen a version like the one you propose ever used, the one you removed is much closer to the one actually used - or have I missed anything? Thanks. Yakikaki (talk) 21:17, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- A coat of arms is not defined by a picture but rather by the wording of its blazon. Thus all blue shields with three crowns ordered two above one are representations of the coat of arms of Sweden (unless it's not a coat of arms of someone else using the same charges and tinctures). If you google "tre kronor" and "sköld", you will find all sorts of versions, including shields that are close to the one I think currently is the best version om Wikipedia. I can agree that the shield in the version I have removed is close to several versions used by the Swedish government. The crowns is designed in a style that often called "flatestil" ("surface style"; from the norwegian heraldist Halvar Traetteberg). However, the closed crown above the shield is in no way near this flatestil. It is almost three dimensional in its style and differs from the style of the shield. As I think a coat of arms should be designed in a uniform style, this version should not be used. I hope this is an answer to your question. / B****n (talk) 22:30, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Aha, interesting! Thank you for the explanation. Yakikaki (talk) 09:53, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Theroadislong (talk) 17:08, 29 July 2023 (UTC)HI, you changed the caption for this pic but it seems the caption was in line with the description at commons [1]. So why did you change it? If it was indeed wrong, it would indicate a larger issue with more pictures. Thanks, WikiHannibal (talk) 13:03, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- The caption was wrong. The old version of the armorial, "Alter Siebmacher", has the title: New Wappenbuch : Darinnen deß H. Röm. Reichs Teutscher Nation hoher Potentaten [...]. See: Google Books. Although the book has the word "new" (neu) in its title, it is the old version. /B****n (talk) 14:33, 24 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your response. I hope I get it now - someone thought that pic description at commons, "New Wappenbuch", meant "Neuer Siebmacher" and used that in the caption when in fact "New Wappenbuch" refers to Alter Siebmacher. BTW when I look at page 7 (Mecklenburg, Pommern, etc.) of the Alter Siebmacher you linked, the picture is different from the one used in the article. Perhaps it should be specified in the caption that it is from a later re-edition? WikiHannibal (talk) 15:01, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
