Halakhic - cap?
Avraham,
I'm trying to determine if the adjective "Halakhic" should be capitalized when not at the beginning of a sentence. Both the Jew and Halakha articles are inconsistent on this point. --Steven J. Anderson 21:01, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I was just asking about the word "halakhic" (adj.). I looked for that word on both the "Jew" and "Halakha" articles and found it both capitalized and uncapitalized about an equal number of times. I'll ask around. --Steven J. Anderson 23:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
I think enough time has passed on the "Beit Midrash" page-move discussion to move the article. See Talk:Beth midrash#Name of article. Shavua tov, DLandTALK 01:46, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
thanks :)

Inappropriate length block for 131.111.8.104
Blocking University of Cambridge for a month? What on Earth were you thinking? You do realize that real academics do edit Wikipedia from behind these proxies and that such a block would look very, very bad for us in the media if it ever got publicized. One more thing, there's about 7 proxies in the Cambridge proxy pool. Please be much more careful when you're blocking tertiary institutions. Thanks. -- Netsnipe ► 14:49, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- It is an anonblock. If there is a registered account it is unaffected. If there is no registered account, well, if you were part of unblock-en you'ld see the volume we get. It came off of a three month block recently. I believe your reaction was a bit excessive. Further, academics or not, we do not countenance death threats here. A month is not excessive and I would request you restore it if you have taken it off. -- Avi 14:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
File an abuse report with their Computing Service helpdesk. Universities are very responsive when it comes to tracking down students who abuse Wikipedia. -- Netsnipe ► 14:57, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- See WP:ANI#Cambridge University Vandals. Further, last I checked, it was common courtesy to discuss the block before with the blocking admin before reverting it. -- Avi 15:02, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
At least I notified you directly. Anyway, I've voiced my concerns at the WP:ANI discussion. -- Netsnipe ► 15:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
You have new messages won't go away
Hello, you just made a change of some kind to a proxy server I'm using's talk page. The "you have new messages" thing won't go away. 131.111.8.98 16:08, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Purge your browser's cache after you click on "my talk page" -- Avi 16:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a cache issue, I'm getting it on every page (including this page as I write my reply). 131.111.8.98 16:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, give it a while, proxy servers can be funny things. If it is still there in an hour or so, let me know, and I'll try and contact a developer. -- Avi 16:17, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, it is a wiki server issue. I'm getting a 10 minute lag on edit histories and watchlist, and I'm in the US. It's likely worse for you. -- Avi 16:18, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of Alofa Time article
I just attempted to read the article about Alofa Time, and found that you had deleted it as an "attack page."
I know that some of the information in that article was factual and well-sourced, and moving it to a NPOV would not have been that difficult. Therefore, its outright deletion seems like an overreaction. Is it possible to "undelete" an article? If so, I'm willing to work with you to get it up to Wikipedia standards. Sarah
Hello. Did you write the thing about one Sarah being the best in the world, or what do you mean? :-) I'm trying to learn how to edit in here. What does Wikipedia mean about "being bold"? --Chringle 20:28, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
Liftarn and Limboot
Please explain why you decided to block Limboot, but not Liftarn, when they, as you acknowledged on the 3RR noticeboard, both broke WP:3RR. I also do not understand how there is not a conflict of interest when you were already involved in reverting Limboot on the antisemitism article. KazakhPol 03:52, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please check the block log. Another admin performed all blocks. I specifically recused myself, as I wrote on the 3RR page. I then asked an ArbCom member if I would have been allowed to block in that situation, and was told that the block would obviously been a protective block, and would not be considered "blocking to gain an advantage" since the violations were so obvious (and in my opinion egregious). Regardless, all I did in this case was to update the 3RR page, and leave a courtesy message for user:Limboot so that he could request an unblock if he desired. -- Avi 04:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC).
- I see I am mistaken. KazakhPol 04:31, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Kosher tax
I've added some more detail and references to the article. If you have some time, and are so inclined, you might want to put them into those reference templates you like. You know I've never had the patience to learn that arcane syntax. :-) Jayjg (talk) 04:27, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm stupid
I'm obviously being stupid here, I can't find the discussion Template:Oxford IP and I thought they were for seven days, do they go on for ever :p ?--Alf melmac 09:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC) Ah right, the single link, right at the bottom of the page. Fair & Balanced: Thank you
Avraham, I want to thank you for your professional and fair handling of the various edits upon which you have worked. Your answers to my questions have been handled very kindly and I want you to know that I have a high regard for your thoughts and work. Jtpaladin 20:40, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I don't know whether you noticed, but you just accidentally deleted some of Michael's comments in this revert of vandalism. I'll restore them unless you get there first. Jakew 13:44, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Circumcision
Regarding an edit of yours from quite a while ago [1], where you introduced this reference. I assure you, I don't want to meddle with this, but I have two questions: Shouldn't the text include who precisely holds that opinion (per WP:NPOV#A_simple_formulation)? And is this really a reliable source by any means? -- Please feel free to ignore this posting, I just felt compelled to raise this issue once, which is hereby done. All the best, —AldeBaer 05:22, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- My bad, I see it now. Sorry for bothering you. —AldeBaer 14:08, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Why was Austin Stevens: Snakemaster Deleted?
Why was it deleted? How was it an attack on Austin? Is is the stuff on the accusations of animal abuse and staging? Well those I have to admit were unsourced but they were from actual zoo curator such as Jim Harrison of the Kentucky Reptile Zoo. Can I recreate it a bit more downtoned and NPOV? …for your comments to user:Limboot. I know we oft-times agree to disagree about issues, but I appreciate your respect for your fellow editors, and personally appreciate your comments on my behalf. Thanks again. -- Avi 05:12, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- It should work that way Avi. I hope all contributors are aware of the importance of respecting policies. I support the indef block especially that Limboot's behaviour didn't change after i had mentioned to them CIVIL and NPA. I also want you to have a look at this template and give me your feedback. Nesting
Hi Avi. I noticed you nested the project templates at the Naeim Giladi talk page. I wanted to explain that I will be reverting that since after reading about the nesting option, it said it is used when there are three or more templates (and per my comments on the Wikiproject Palestine talk page, being a reborn initiative, we would like to reach as many new people as possible, some with little knowledge of drop down menus). So I hope you don't mind. Thanks. Tiamut 17:32, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for understanding Avi. Cheers. Tiamut 17:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Avraham - please rv my last rv of Palestinian people to your latest version - I seem to have a problem with my JAJAH plug-in that strips away numbers. Thanks, altmany 21:49, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
No hurry; I'll check tomorrow. The Citation template obscured your intent and the actual source, and it seemed like we were talking past each other, so I just did it. But, if they are convenience links, they could be set up using the correct template for each source (cite news, cite journal, cite book, etcetera), followed by some sort of indication ... "available at jackcoggins.com, retrieved on ... " and so on, so that it doesn't appear that you are actually citing his website. It's bedtime here; I'll check in tomorrow - leave me a note if needed. Huh?
Umm is your edit here supposed to be a joke? You stated "Your edits appear to be vandalism". How is removing a category for which I see no reliable sources, considered "vandalism"?
Did you mistake my edits for someonelse's?Bless sins 21:40, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- There is no source in the article justifying the existence of this category. How is removing unsourced content "POV-based vandalism".Bless sins 21:43, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
- Can please specify where allegations of "antisemitism" made by reliable sources are "documented" in the article. I could not find the word "antisemitism" anywhere (except in the category).Bless sins 01:08, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- By section 2, I assume you mean the one titled "Views and acts". I am sorry, I'm a bit slow, but I didn't find any allegations of antisemitism. Can you please be even more sepcific as to where the allegation of antisemitism are. Also, can you please tell me how Yassin is representative of the Islamic faith.Bless sins 20:54, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

What's the problem?
Why do you immediately revert or change any additions of photos that I make the Template:Palestinian ethnicity? I have compromised on this with you by agreeing not to keep reinserting the photo of Palestinian children, which for some inexplicable reason you find "inappropriate". Now you changed the photo of Palestinian refugees from 1948 that I uploaded as a compromise image to one of a Palestinian family from Yanoon that is already in the article Palestinian people. Could you please self-revert? Tiamut 14:22, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Avi, I'm asking you nicely now. Please self-revert. More than 50% of Palestinians are refugees. Very few comparatively like in Yanoon. These are historical and present-day facts. Palestinian identity is tied to their identity as refugees. You may not like it, but it happens to be true. Please try and respect the fact that as a Palestinian, I find your constant reversions of my additions to that template somewhat offensive. I don't go to pages on Jews and replace photos of people there with what I think is more appropriate. Perhaps a little cultural sensitivity is in order, no? Tiamut 14:29, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Avi, once again, you do not seem to understand what cultural sensitivity means. Identity of ethnic groups is self-defined. If I start replacing pictures of Jewish survivors of the Holocaust with pictures of Israeli soldiers, that would be culturally insensitive. If I replaced the same pictures with pictures of Jews hanging out in New York, that would be culturally insensitive. Please. I'm asking you. Don't make this an edit war. Tiamut 14:34, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
I like how you placed the request for comment at the WikiProject Palestine page first (even though I already had alerted project members to the issue), then at the WikiProject Arab-Israeli conflict page and finally, at the WikiProject Israel page. Tiamut 15:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
You don't seem to understand that this is an issue of the identity of a people whose history is political but who have the right to represent themselves faithfully nonetheless. For you to claim as you did earlier that pictures of political representatives would be more representative than smiling children - and then do a 180 about face and say that I have no right to make the template "political" by placing pictures of refugees leaving in 1948 - shows the fallacy of your argument here. It's very clear to me who's position is informed by the desire to politicize issues of identity and society and whose is not. Tiamut 16:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Crop out just the poster - which is what you're really need. That's easy fair use, and Corbis has no rights to it. -- Y not? 17:33, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
