Hello. Your recent edit appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. --VVikingTalkEdits 20:07, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- Belated thanks to VVikingTalk for explaining why my November 2019 edits did not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline. Australiasims (talk) 23:57, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Please help me with...
- Do the edits and justifications given below comply with Wikipedia policies enough so the edits would have a fighting chance of not being reverted?
- This is my first major edit, and I am grateful for help
- Do I need to disclose that I work with the person who is the subject of the biography, and, if yes, what are the proper places and formats for that disclosure?
- What is the best way to implement so many edits - including section-level edits - to an article?
- Edit the article section by section?
- Create a draft of the full re-written article and post that draft to the Talk page?
- Another way?
Below are descriptions of edits I'm proposing for Jimmy_Feigen.
- Reorder and rename article sections to present the content chronologically Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Biography#Order_of_events
- From:
- Personal life
- Detention during 2016 Olympics
- College career
- International career
- 2008-2009
- 2011
- 2012 Summer Olympics
- 2013 World Championships
- 2016 Summer Olympics
- Personal life
- To:
- Early Life
- College Career
- Olympics and International Career
- 2008-2009
- 2011
- 2012 Summer Olympics
- 2013 World Championships
- 2016 Summer Olympics
- Detention in Rio
- Life After Swimming
- From:
- Reword the content currently in the Detention in Rio section to focus on Jimmy's role / experience re the event.
- I propose the current content gives a broader narrative of the event than is necessary to detail Jimmy's involvement. Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view#Due_and_undue_weight
- Adding a Recent Accomplishment
- Updating the bio by including (in the proposed "Life After Swimming" section) that in 2020 Jimmy graduated from law school and now is licensed to practice law in Texas [1] Australiasims (talk) 17:47, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi there! I'll tackle these in a slightly different order:
- You are indeed required to disclose any financial relationship you have. The details are at WP:COIDISCLOSEPAY. In short: Read the documentation of {{paid}} and {{connected contributor (paid)}}, fill them out and add them to your userpage and the article talk page, respectively.
- Paid editors are discouraged from editing articles directly, and should instead file edit requests which are then reviewed by an editor without a conflict of interest. See the linked page for detailed.
- If the article does not need a full rewrite, pasting a modified version to the talk page is usually not a good idea and will delay reviews. As someone who handles edit requests from time to time, here are some things that I think make good edit requests:
- Be clear, specific, and provide sources for everything you want added. Propose changes in "change X to Y" format.
- If it's likely to be unclear to reviewers, but concise statements that explain why such a change is necessary.
- Split your requests into manageable chunks. It's far easier for multiple people to implement changes piece by piece than for a single person to review a massive rewrite.
- Watch your formatting. Requests that have a good visual structure are more likely to be reviewed quickly.
- Be patient; unfortunately, the queue is perpetually backlogged – but the better your requests are, the more likely they are to be answered quickly.
- It's hard to say whether your proposed changes would be accepted since we don't know the specific wording of your proposed changes – once you submit edit requests, the reviewer will leave more detailed comments.
- The chronological reordering is definitely a good idea; make sure to provide a reordered version, ideally surrounded by {{cot}} and {{cob}} to make it collapisble, so it's easier to implement the change.
- You are free to propose specific changes – broad suggestions are likely to be declined. Be sure to provide a clear and concise for why a change like this (i.e. content removal) must be made.
- The third addition also looks fine to me (though you could potentially find a non-primary source)
- I hope this helps. Feel free to ping me or to open another help request if there is something else we can help with. Best, Blablubbs|talk 19:49, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
