Little context in Mantecadas

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Mantecadas, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Mantecadas is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Mantecadas, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 19:10, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Adrianu Martín

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Adrianu Martín requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 21:06, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Aigen

A tag has been placed on Aigen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Kingdom of León

[edit]

I've undid all your contributions in the Kingdom of León subject. Read this first: Wikipedia:Categorization and stop mixing the leonese politics and history in the English Wikipedia. Thank you and regards, Rastrojo (talk) 13:34, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You must respect the work other people are developing and questioning first why is that. All that was categorisez has its own reason and what you did is close to vandalism. --Auslli (talk) 16:55, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Second warning. Please, stop categorizing without sense. Regards. Rastrojo (talk) 17:46, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please, if you have any trouble with the caterories I've made, there is a discussion page where you can explain that kind of things. Categories that you believe can't be developed other people can, and someone maybe have not your point of view, that I guess is not quiet neutral as Wikipedia would promote. So I invite you to be a bit more broad minded and not to destroy the work others develope for months. And please, don't be so agressive and impolitely, wikipedia is a free place, and you are not a cop.--Auslli (talk) 18:03, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Geozone. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Asturian parishes

[edit]

Hello. Why are you placing CSD tags on Asturian parish articles when they are Spanish populated places, comparable to an American "county"? As you can see, there is additional info about most of them on the Asturian and Spanish language wikipedias that I didn't translate, but someone else could. There are historic buildings in some of them, and some of them have notable people that I haven't linked. In other words, they are stubs and they need work. --Rosiestep (talk) 20:56, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rosiestep. The minimun unity in Spain is the municipality, (then there are villages and then parishes!!!) and many of this parishes has less that 50 people living and with 100 meters distance one for another... There are municipalities with more than 100 parishes, so I believe that is not a dictionary (and almost all the pages I have proposed for deletion are) and nor a parish guide. They have absolutely no relevance, and if they have, it has been not shown properly in the parishes I proposed for deletion.--Auslli (talk) 21:02, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That as maybe but they still aren't eligable for speedy deletion as they do contain content. They would need to be deleted using WP:PROD or WP:AfD so I've removed the speedy delete requests. Dpmuk (talk) 21:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
When I looked at the Asturian and Spanish-language wikipedias, I saw that an Asturian "parish" is a sub-unit of a "municipality", and that "villages/towns/hamlets" are sub-units of parishes. I reviewed WP:POPP to see if a "parish" would be considered an appropriate article. Per WP:POPP#Criteria for judging small population centres' first example (A residential hamlet in the parish of X is the birth place of a published author. The existence and location of the hamlet should be noted in X's article, and the fact of the author's birthplace on the author's article. There is nothing else to be usefully said so no separate article is necessary. Redirect the name of the hamlet to the parish aricle.), a parish is notable (at least that's how I read it), while a hamlet (town/village, etc.) may or may not meet notability criteria. It's true I did not include hamlets/villages/towns in each parish article; I could go back and add that info, as could anyone else. I admit to not being an expert on Asturian parishes, so please let me know if I should be reviewing something else besides WP:POPP in order to establish notability of a populated place. Thanks. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:10, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rosiestep. I think we can have an agreement. Yes, certainly we can be talking about "subunities" and finishing in the part of the table of the kitchen where a man of the parish is seated, but that doesn't convern wikipedia. If Ronald Reagan was there, does. And like I tell you, in Spain the minimun unity is the municipality, or going farther, the villages who have their own ellectionships for major. What do you think about consider appropiates articles those who really have something that permit them to be considereted as "interesant" for wikipedia, like some monument, birthplace of a cellebrity or somethnig like that, and not all the other ones? Beacuase like I tell you, we have to make a stop elsewhere and don't include places without enciclopedic interest. Best regards.--Auslli (talk) 09:31, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

to Auslli, from Rosiestep
Hello Auslli. I respect your opinion and your interest in the Asturian parish articles, and I agree that writing "interesting" place articles is good for Wikipedia! However, I disagree with your suggestion as to which Asturian parish articles I should or shouldn't create as: (a) per the Asturias government website, parishes are a part of the territory organization; (b) per WP:Notability (geography), populated, legally-recognized places are notable; (c) the Asturian parish articles I'm creating are transwikied from other language wikipedias, so their notability has been established elsewhere; and (d) only creating articles about "interesting" places... well, that's subjective (right?).
I hope you reconsider your position on this issue, and that you remove the Prod Tag from Ronda (Illano). But if you continue to disagree with me as to whether or not articles such as Ronda meet wikipedia's notability standard, we could seek the opinion of the wiki community, perhaps at WikiProject Spain and/or WikiProject Geography? In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the cup of tea. --Rosiestep (talk) 22:49, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So, I think we could arrive to an agreement. The last unity is the parish, according to wikipedia and the legallity in that regions. I'll remove the tag, in that sense. Are you ok?--Auslli (talk) 23:04, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All ok with me. We've reached agreement on this notability issue, and *gracias* for removing the Prod Tag. Also, in case you want to add it to your Watchlist, I left a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spain#Asturian language name asking for feedback about including/excluding the Asturian language name translation within an Asturian geo article. --Rosiestep (talk) 23:24, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rating the importance of articles

[edit]

Hi Auslli, I noticed you rated the article Shabo language as "Top importance", but did not offer a reason. I had rated the article for the Ethiopian WikiProject as "Low" solely based on the number of speakers; the subject may be worthy of a higher rating in importance. If you have a reason for a higher rating, I'd like to read it -- preferably on Talk:Shabo language -- so I can consider raising my rating. -- llywrch (talk) 17:34, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

After some more searching, I found the discussion on the project talk pages. What would be best is if you either (1) made a link from your edit comments to this discussion, or (2) replace the table the project template currently points to with the table on the Talk page. That way when curious people (like me) try to figure out the reasoning, we can find the explanation with a minimum of fuss. -- llywrch (talk) 22:58, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You added some links to the Delaware languages article, but most of them were for items already linked, either in the same section or in the preceding section. The general convention is as follows, from

Wikipedia:Linking#General principles:

  • Link only the first occurrence of an item. A link that had last appeared much earlier in the article may be repeated, but generally not in the same section. (Table entries are an exception to this; each row of a table should be able to stand on its own.

Re your response, I suggest you read the guidelines for linking, they're really pretty clear. Jomeara421 (talk) 10:38, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

European elections

[edit]

Hello, Auslli, perhaps you'd like something non-critical on your talk page for once!

I took your useful European election returns for the Land of Salzburg and added names for the benefit of my fellow non-Austrians (I know what the SPOe is, but not the JuLis, for example). I also right-aligned the table, added party colours, and adjusted the language in the introductory sentence.

However, none of this is to criticise your own work, without which I would have had nothing to work with (and being born in London, I was following the UK Euro-elections more closely anyway). This is just to say that—if you're adding European election results for other Austrian states and cities which I'm not following—then you and your readers might find some of the things I've added to be helpful, and some of the code I worked out this afternoon might save you a little time. (I wish I knew a more elegant way to add the party colours since I'm certainly no expert.)

Language-population update project

[edit]

Hi. The 18th edition of Ethnologue just came out, and if we divide up our language articles among us, it won't take long to update them. I would appreciate it if you could help out, even if it's just a few articles (5,000 articles is a lot for just me), but I won't be insulted if you delete this request.

A largely complete list of articles to be updated is at Category:Language articles citing Ethnologue 17. The priority articles are in Category:Language articles with old Ethnologue 17 speaker data. These are the 10% that have population figures at least 25 years old.

Probably 90% of the time, Ethnologue has not changed their figures between the 17th and 18th editions, so all we need to do is change "e17" to "e18" in the reference (ref) field of the language info box. That will change the citation for the artcle to the current edition. Please put the data in the proper fields, or the info box will flag it as needing editorial review. The other relevant fields are "speakers" (the number of native speakers in all countries), "date" (the date of the reference or census that Ethnologue uses, not the date of Ethnologue!), and sometimes "speakers2". Our convention has been to enter e.g. "1990 census" when a census is used, as other data can be much older than the publication date. Sometimes a citation elsewhere in the article depends on the e17 entry, in which case you will need to change "name=e17" to "name=e18" in the reference tag (assuming the 18th edition still supports the cited claim).

Remember, we want the *total* number of native speakers, which is often not the first figure given by Ethnologue. Sometimes the data is too incompatible to add together (e.g. a figure from the 1950s for one country, and a figure from 2006 for another), in which case it should be presented that way. That's one use for the "speakers2" field. If you're not sure, just ask, or skip that article.

Data should not be displayed with more than two, or at most three, significant figures. Sometimes it should be rounded off to just one significant figure, e.g. when some of the component data used by Ethnologue has been approximated with one figure (200,000, 3 million, etc.) and the other data has greater precision. For example, a figure of 200,000 for one country and 4,230 for another is really just 200,000 in total, as the 4,230 is within the margin of rounding off in the 200,000. If you want to retain the spurious precision of the number in Ethnologue, you might want to use the {{sigfig}} template. (First parameter in this template is for the data, second is for the number of figures to round it off to.)

Dates will often need to be a range of all the country data in the Ethnologue article. When entering the date range, I often ignore dates from countries that have only a few percent of the population, as often 10% or so of the population isn't even separately listed by Ethnologue and so is undated anyway.

If Ethnologue does not provide a date for the bulk of the population, just enter "no date" in the date field. But if the population figure is undated, and hasn't changed between the 17th & 18th editions of Ethnologue, please leave the ref field set to "e17", and maybe add a comment to keep it so that other editors don't change it. In cases like this, the edition of Ethnologue that the data first appeared in may be our only indication of how old it is. We still cite the 14th edition in a couple dozen articles, so our readers can see that the data is getting old.

The articles in the categories linked above are over 90% of the job. There are probably also articles that do not currently cite Ethnologue, but which we might want to update with the 18th edition. I'll need to generate another category to capture those, probably after most of the Ethnologue 17 citations are taken care of.

Jump in at the WP:LANG talk page if you have any comments or concerns. Thanks for any help you can give!

Notice

The article PuntuLLI has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability unclear; no independent sourcing

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. I have converted this to a proposed deletion to give you a chance to fix the article if you are still receiving e-mail alerts. Espresso Addict (talk) 01:48, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
