Re:BOT
It'll be semi-automatic: It'll be a remotely hosted PHP script which I can enter a username into, and will generate automated suggestions for that user by file_get_contents()-ing the user's Wannabe Kate's page (I'll also probably add an "in-depth" review, which will actually access the Special:Contributions page). As soon as I learn more about Wikipedia's DOM, I'll also make a user script that accesses the remotely hosted bot for me. Thanks for the SVG, I can't do vector graphics for my life. :( Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 22:07, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I finished addressing your review for Donegal fiddle tradition. Could you re-read it and tell me what you think? Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 22:54, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- I do not think anybody has designed a BOT for that purpose, tell us when it is ready. Me, I always choose Java, makes things easier to handle the good old way.
- I re-read the article and you did a great job with small changes here or there. I left some notes on the talk page in response to your notes.
- A small piece of advice, per WP:TALK, one is not allowed to change other people's commentary as you did to mine on the talk page by inserting your comments, but I really do not mind! I have no objection against it, but other people might, so this is why I am telling you, I had to learn this the hard way here! Please do not go and change your comments, I am perfectly fine with them.
- Λua∫Wise (talk) 11:36, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. A while ago, I noticed most people liked to put "Done" tags next to resolved problems (which is perfectly acceptable and actually encouraged by Wikipedia policy), so I figure it wouldn't hurt to add comments next to them. The bot is only about 30% done, and progress is slow. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, you don't mind if I transfer a bunch of your images to the Commons, do you? Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 03:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Of course I do not mind!, I made them and they are 100% free ;) I doubt how useful they might be :) but you my friend are welcomed to try.Λua∫Wise (talk) 08:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, transferring! By the way, I updated your userpage again. You're really racking up the DYKs there, aren't you? Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Wait, you only nominated that one; you didn't create it. Sorry. :( Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:59, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for updating and then reverting my user page... mate you gotta chill out :) and get not too technical! By definition, I now have 4 DYK's. count'em, although I only nominated half , but is still considered DYK. And also technically speaking, Henri Brocard is a current good article nominee; not a GA. Anyway, you are extremely active with RfA, you are planning for run for admin. in the future, I could nominate you if you want.
Λua∫Wise (talk) 09:27, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oops. I guess I can't count. Okay, I'll replace 2 with 4... About the Henri Brocard thing; it's a half-joke:
- I'm nearly certain that it will pass, and
- I'm following the proud tradition of User:Anonymous Dissident. ;) I can't really find the link now, but one time during either an ER or RfA the number of his GAs was brought up and he had done the same thing as me. No one was particularly annoyed about it. I recall a user (Dihydrogen Monoxide maybe?) commented, "Already counting it, eh? ;)".
- Anyways, thanks for the RfA offer. I might consider it after Henri Brocard passes GA (in the event it doesn't, I'll just improve it until it does) and that Mathcounts supplementary list passes/fails FL. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- (resetting indent) Oh, and about the user page thing: You can edit any portion of my user space you want, though I'd prefer it if you didn't replace my user page with "EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!" or something similar. ;) Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:05, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Why do you respond to my messages in installments? (Am just kidding ;D, I do that myself) ... Anyway, I will nominate you for RfA after your main space edits reach over 1000-of course I will ask you first, and if you agree I will officially nominate you-. And about that French guy Henri, I was going to review his article, and pass it for GA, but that seemed a little inappropriate; *cough* cronyism *cough* ;well, it will not qualify as cronyism since I really do not know you and you do not know me, but some people will say that, and I had my fair share of these people in the past on WP.
- And one more thing: Com'on man, why are you doing this? If I can't go and blank your user page right now, and "imagify"-(from "image" + "ify", such as "SVGify") a part of your signature that is related to a long story on it, what is the point of editing it????! :) This is a joke, I repeat A JOKE, I have no intension to vandalize Wikipedia, please do not report me to an administrator, I do not want to get blocked!

- installments. Okay, enough of that. Haha, "cronyism"? That's a new one. I see Wikipedia has an article on it. Thanks again for the RfA offer. I'll make sure that those last 200 edits will be quality edits and not vandalism. ;) OH NO YOU'RE GOING TO VANDALIZE MY USER PAGE! I'M GOING TO REPORT YOU TO WP:AN IMMEDIATELY AND OPEN Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Auawise! ;) Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:30, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- lol :D. "Cronyism"; yeah, it's a new one, I heard about it for the first time on SNL, and it is a cool word if you think about it; as in "wadd up mah crony?". Also cutting down on your vandalism for the last 200 edits will help your RfA (If anyone reading this in the future, I am just kidding, he is a good guy, go and vote for him you nerds, instead of checking his talk page ;)! -nerd is used lovingly here, as in "what's up mah nerd?"-. Luckily this page Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Auawise is red linked -for now at least- but if you did anything to change that fact I will retaliate with Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/nousernamesleft ;). One more thing, I have a personal question, if you do not want to answer, it is okay, but what is your I.Q.?Λua∫Wise (talk) 16:35, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I was all, "Hey, why is it a blue link?" when I saw it. Nice one. ;) The lower end of my IQ range was originally in my

(Reseting indent) That's some serious I.Q. you got there man! You are like one of the 0.01%! My I.Q. is much lower than that at 130 low to 138 high :(. Were you born this way, or did you seek increasing it? You should not "waste" your time on WP, because you ,sir, are a genius! Harvard and Mensa International are waiting you! Anyway, do not tell me you did not click on that link above, you thought it was for real! ;). Well, since we ran out of topics to talk about, I would like to wish you a fruitful wiki-carrier, my RfA offer is still open, if you ever choose to accept it, drop me a message and I will officially nominate you, also may I ask a favor? Could you go here and tell me whether they are accurate, cause I am pretty sure there is something wrong with their tests. Thanks and Cheers!. Λua∫Wise (talk) 14:38, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Having a high IQ is like being a sysop. (for what I mean by the analogy, see WP:ADMINNOT) Anyways, I don't consider building an encyclopedia a waste of my time. Also, twelve is a bit too young for Harvard, don't you think? ;) As for Mensa... well, joining an organization named after a table doesn't appeal to me. I'll drop you a message once I reach 1K mainspace edits for the RfA... thanks again for the offer. About the tests: They seem all right to me, though I only tried a small sample. They test cognitive capacity, not knowledge, so that seems right. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 21:11, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- You are 4 years younger than me :0!!! And yet you can create a remotely hosted PHP script for your BOT, and I can barely write some Java scripts... is it me, or I am actually stupid? ;).....Anyways, Keep up the good work... and you are never too young to get to Harvard, trust me on that one. Good luck! Λua∫Wise (talk) 14:13, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm flattered. ;) You're not at all stupid, on the contrary, you probably know more about general subjects than I do. Hm, that Harvard remark is intriguing.... Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 22:31, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, why do you no longer use User:Auawise/icon? Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 03:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you have not figured it out yet, then here it is: I stole the User:Auawise/icon idea from you! :)... In fact, just minutes ago, I was still stealing ideas from you (e.g. {{rollback}} ) ;). For the moment, I saw it is better to integrate it with the my user page. Why did not you do the same instead of starting a separate sub page?
- I think if your RfA works, you could well be the youngest sysop! ;)
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 11:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, I think User:Anonymous Dissident gets that honor. Also, stealing ideas from my userpage, eh? Don't you know that's copyrighted and not under GNU? ;) Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 22:57, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
- Technically speaking, it was from a user subpage and not a user page, and: oh really? read the fine print at the bottom man, "You agree to license your contributions under the GFDL.";). Therefore, YOU CAN NOT SUE ME! :). Anyway, I noticed you, yourself, have "stolen" some ideas for your userpage from other users...
- Also, have you considered admin couching?
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 17:29, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

- Haha, you're right, I did steal the layout from Anonymous Dissident (though significantly tweaked) and the icons from him as well. No, I haven't considered admin *couching*, but it sounds relaxing. ;) Actually, yes, I have considered admin coaching, see Requests#Current_requests. Unfortunately, that place is highly backlogged, and it doesn't look like an admin is going to get to me anytime soon. Also, I'm really starting to not see the benefit of such a process for me; it seems that most to all of the material there I already know about. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- Apologies for the typo :)
- You seem very confident of yourself; a desirable attribute in a sysop. I just wanna say that this is the longest conversation I ever had on WP to date, and it ain't getting any boring ;) first thing that comes to mind when reading it is any Seinfeld episode (by the analogy I mean a show about nothing that has some good jokes (mostly yours) and some lame ones (mostly mine)). Anyways "Temperal", you said you spoke a number of languages fluently, may I ask what languages you speak, other than English that is.
- P.S. Your name appears User:Dattebayo321, in Omaha?
- P.S.2 Congratulations and Happy New Chinese year -春節- since your ancestors once lived in China :).
Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 20:25, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- (resetting indent) Haha, that was a pretty random Seinfield comment. ;) I used to have a signature of "Temperal" because... actually, I don't remember anymore. Funny. I can speak Chinese and French fluently, and German somewhat, but I can't write Chinese for my life, and I can't write French very well. I can write German relatively well, though. The userpage you linked to is the page of one of my old classmates, who apparently thought it would be funny to join Wikipedia. Happy Chinese New Year! Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 23:34, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- Also, concerning your flag images: They seem to have conflicting tags. They can't both be GNU and non-free at the same time. I removed the non-free from one because it seemed that it was more GNU, but could you clarify this? Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 00:14, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- The comment was rather random indeed; I just write whatever that happens to be "in my mind" the moment my fingers hit the keyboard when writing an informal message, thus sometimes I just jump from one topic to the other , and sound incoherent.
- The ability to fluently speak 3 languages is rarely observed among 12 year-olds, and is very difficult to attain once the Language acquisition device becomes unavailable after a certain age. It is one of the fields that interest me due to its ad oculus relation to IQ and brain functioning (needless to say, many of my peers (16 yr olds) find the topic as dull and boring as it can get).
- A sequence of somewhat odd events has puzzled me as I started looking into your former class mate's history; he not only revealed your name on his userpage -that you vandalized a long time ago- but also has left me a message yesterday at the same time you left your first one exactly (just one minute apart). He has been inactive for some time, and to see that he detected his name on my talk page the same day I put it there is rather odd, do not you think? Also, I have made a small mistake above that I corrected on your talkpage; the User:Dattebayo321 would actually lead to here rather than his page, making it all more difficult for him use "what links here" and find my page, let alone doing it in the same day and one minute before your post......
- I have corrected the flag tag. The problem mainly happened because of my involvement with WP:GL, not really a long story, but a boring one, so the bottom line is : they are fixed now.
- Cheers. Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 19:26, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, it's a her. I think she often reads Wikipedia, but isn't really active. (She hasn't realized how addicting it is yet!) Yeah, I vandalized her userpage a long time ago - but with permission! ;) I'm impressed with your knowledge of development of the brain. That's an example of why high IQ isn't all that important: it's just capacity to learn things, but if you don't try to learn them, then you learn nothing. I thought the language acquisition device wasn't a confirmed sector of the brain yet, though... On a random tangent, I use way too many ellipses... see, there's one right there! It's an odd habit. Anyways, thanks for fixing the tags; I'll have to go remove the one from commons that I uploaded now. By the way, concerning your RfA offer: User:WBOSITG has also offered to nominate me. I'll tell him that he can co-nom once I reach 1,000 mainspace edits (the rather arbitrary goal that we agreed on). One last thing - where did my classmate reveal my actual name? I can't find it on her userpage... Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 21:58, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, She left a message saying something about a remix, I think 12 yr olds are talented these days. I am happy that I am not the only one who thinks you deserve the nomination and the tools, I just want to note that the 1000 main space edit- figure is a bit far from being an arbitrary number, an admin is required to have at least this number of edits + another 1000 of talk page edits to prove his involvement with the community, what do I have to prove that you ask, I say that I read something like that somewhere, but I can not cite it right now.
- Since we are including random stuff in our messages, here is one: SAT is really easy! :)
- I disagree with the note that IQ is a mere indication of one's ability to learn, the effects of IQ extend beyond the classroom to every aspect of life, its socioeconomic effects are too great to be ignored (see IQ and Global Inequality and IQ and the wealth of nations, controversial? yes, but worth considering nonetheless).Nothing is 100% certain in that field, and this kind of uncertainty opens the door to much speculation about whether IQ is everything, nothing, or something in between.
- Your name appears here, no need to confirm it's true or not; your privacy is respected.
- Sorry about the "he" thing, Dattebayo321, now I shall use the right pronouns.
- Cheers! Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 19:39, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, about the 1000 thing, I think many editors have their own arbitrary standards for RfA, and you stumbled across one. I'm not saying these aren't useful; they can be good rough estimates of a user's experience and/or interactions with other users, but all are rather arbitrary. What is, for example, the difference between a user with 900 mainspace edits and one with 1000 mainspace? IQ is highly controversial, I agree, and perhaps I'm wrong in my opinion that it is simply a matter of capacity... I'll just say that my last name is definitely wrong on that page ("Shoe"? Come on). By the way, I'm nearing the agreed count, so feel free to initiate the nomination at any time. Please hold transcluding it onto the main RfA page until I've answered all the questions (which I'll do when I'm good and ready), though. Thanks! Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 20:25, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
- I am starting to think that you might be right on that one; I might have read the 1000 thing somewhere and mistaken it with somewhat a policy. I have tried to locate it, but utterly failed to do so in the last hour. The memory is a mysterious thing, or at least, mine is malfunctioning! :)
- I started the RfA page. PLEASE review my nomination introduction and inform me of any changes you want, even to the extent of replacing it altogether. I do really do not mind.
- As usual, take your time to answer all questions, briefly but perfectly; I think there are some editors who will read the responses and vote rather than go through your entirely history.
- Okay ,"Shoe" is something that I found odd but it is nonetheless possible, especially if you take into considerations (misspellings of) Asian names, do not you think? If you would not like to comment on this farther, we respect your privacy as I said before. (What "We"? I really do not know, I just used it there instead of I, it seems more serious! :) )
- I would like to wish you the best of luck in your RfA. Go get'em! ;)
- P.S. Sorry for messing up your talk page with the RfA nomination template, I thought this way it will catch your attention from the first glance. :)
- Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:10, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Just a brief post to thank you for your welcome :) I am new on wiki but after having read all the tutorials I hope that my wonderfull (^^) article will meet all the legal requirements and moreover will be nice to read... I am optimistic.;) JeBeDu. (talk) 15:51, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes! Your wonderfull article does meet all the "legal requirements"... I really hope that you enjoy editing WP and continue to be a productive part of our community, you will certainly come across many nice wikipedians around here. If you ever need any help -I doubt it since you read many policies and guidelines- you can contact me on my talk page. Alors, vous êtes de France? Parlez-vous français? Λua∫Wise (talk) 16:10, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Good to ear that about my article :) Yes I am French, but currently I am overseas to finish my studies. I will maybe go back to France in 6 months... or later ^^. Pourquoi etes vous interesse par la France? JeBeDu. (talk) 16:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah oui!
Bonne chance mon ami.
- P.S. C’est trop froid a Oceanie, non ?. Λua∫Wise (talk) 12:20, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
(talk) 14:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
eurydice new image
hi I join you with the feeling that this image from 2007 added to the Eurydice page is a disgrace to the subject matter and to wikipedia. I suggest to delete it Doraannao (talk) 14:57, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- I will list it for deletion for being UE (unencyclopedic). Speedy deletion is not feasible here since it is relevant to the topic, and has no copyright problem and no other issues, so it does not qualify for these criteria.
Thanks. Λua∫Wise (talk) 16:26, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
A human
Why cannot they be explicit (see *1*) and say Image:ORPHEUSandEURYDICE.jpg! You left a message about this on a title of A Human which was the wrong place. The "File history" section of the image provides a link to the uploader's talk page. Why did you not simply follow that link? -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 16:48, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- If someone would not like to be explicit, it is their choice, you can not force them to do things they do not want to do, also, the message was for me and I got it, thus I would not think this is anybody's problem but me and Doraannao. Second, user Doraannao is a new user, and may not familiar with WP, one must not bite him ;
- Third, The uploader used A human to refer to himself (see Orpheus), I mistakingly clicked on it and was taken to the page where I left the notice in a hurry, however, I quickly recognized my mistake and left the message at the right place. I used the direct link for convenience when I was checking the places that used the image.
- Per WP:TALK and WP:USER I removed your "*1*" which came in between another editor's comment, I also changed the title of the post. Cheers Λua∫Wise (talk) 17:09, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
hi yes, this is unencyclopdic, this image. the subject of Eurydice is a huge subject in music, painting, and aesthetical philosophy. To leave inside something like this image will reflect a disrespect to the subject matter. I think that your solution is the right one. thanks Doraannao (talk) 17:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed,it is such a shame that they stayed there for that long, and no one bothered to remove them, let alone notice them. In fact, they are not hidden or something, but were in plain sight in 2 articles, 2 notable articles, with a caption that one can not miss. Thanks for reminding me of this, I must admit that I almost forgot about them, so you are the one to be credited with their removal.
- Cheers. Λua∫Wise (talk) 20:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Eurydice image
yes, how good of you to attend to this. I am into cultural analysis of art history, specializing in looking at art history from point of view of gender, psychoanalysis, western modern and postmodern phiosophy. Clearly images in such a site should be by Poussin, Titian, Ettinger and Rubens. Not only the image is a disgrace, but also the ignorant line that goes with it is of no dignity for encyclopaedia. I am new, so please forgive me for not knowing yet how to be more efficient. I appreciate your attitude, thanks Doraannao (talk) 12:54, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Clearly an interesting field you got there, and Wikipedia may not have many people specializing in that area, that's why your role is important here. I hope you continue to contribute to Wikipedia; I have seen that you are already contributing to major articles such as the Critical theory and Philosophy. Great job! Ah, as for the image, it will deleted very soon, and I will clean the articles that contain it after deletion. You did do not anything wrong and need not to apologize for anything...one editor has pointed out above that one could be more precise and I told him that this is not necessary or required. If you need any help, you know where to find me. :) Λua∫Wise (talk) 13:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- many thanks. The essay itself is good, one day perhaps I will try to give it more contents. perhaps it should be also included, as as it is now, as well, as a small section in the Orpheus essay. I noticed that sometimes this is done and that the whole section inside the Orpheus essay, for example, can then be referring to the Eurydice essay major essay. Just an idea for the future. Thanks for suggesting help, Doraannao (talk) 14:22, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Including a small section with links to the main article is a good idea, and perhaps even vitally important since the article is rather short. By the way, you do not need to start a new topic every time you post a message, just go to the place where the message is and click "edit" and write your message at the bottom, perhaps you already know, but this is just a note :). Anyway, good luck in your Wiki-journey :). Λua∫Wise (talk) 14:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
hi again, I hope that I do not disturb. I followed the site of A Human to see why he is putting such an image, and discovered that he had put another image which is a painting by himself, again, in the wikipedia:Rose page, next to a painting be Renoir!!!! I am too new here and not aware of the standards of wikipedia and of the ways to add or suggest to delete images; but this procedure by A Human starts to look like an attempt to be close to and to parasite great artists, and as such, of exploiting the encyclopaedia. I am starting to think to contribute to Wikipedia in my fields of knowledge, but am not sure yet how and if; it seems a bit complicated. Thanks, Doraannao (talk) 17:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- And he put it there 2 days ago... How could this image pass all wikipedians patrolling recent changes is something I can not understand. I removed the image from article rose. Funny thing was that not only he put his painted image next to Renoir's but also his image was bigger in size! A sign of utter disrespect if you ask me. Well, for the moment let's keep an eye on him, we still do not know if he is doing that for the destructive humour found in vandalism or he does not honestly know Wikipedia rules. Your contributions to Wikipedia are welcomed, and it is not complicated at all, it just seems that way, so here are a couple of links that will tell pretty much everything one needs to learn to edit WP:Wikipedia:Tutorial and Wikipedia:How_to_edit_a_page... good luck and thanks. Cheers :). Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:07, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
AIDS map
I used the blank map shown here, then I filled in the colors using Inkscape. --escondites 18:22, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting cause I used Inkscape to trace the bit map and then colour it and the results ain't short of disastrous! :) Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:24, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I know! I always used the "trace" method, and it always looked awfull, you should avoid it :-) --escondites 18:27, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- It works with geometric shapes, but with nothing else... I have illustrator but it does not do the job any better. Λua∫Wise (talk) 18:38, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- But why don't you use Bezier curves to draw geometrical shapes? (SHIFT+F6), also see the Inkscape tutorial! --escondites 18:43, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yap, but it is much faster with bitmap tracing, it preserves the ratios and with high resolution, you can get the image just right... Also, I spent plenty of time will all Inkscape tutrials and its simplicity that makes me go back to it always rather than illustraor. Cheers.

help needed with wikipedia entry
Hi, I am new to wikipedia, and I am hoping you can help me...
I have created a wikipedia entry for a new project I am starting in April 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PERSIST_FP7_Project
The problem with this is that if you go to Wikipedia and search for PERSIST you get something completely different... ie. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persist
Is there a simple solution to this? I.e. I want users to type PERSIST and be presented with both http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PERSIST_FP7_Project
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persist
as results.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Kevin —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevindoolin (talk • contribs) 15:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hello Kevin and Welcome to Wikipedia! :),
- I went to the article Persist and added a line at the top to direct people to PERSIST_FP7_Project if they would like to view that page... I did not see the need to star a disambiguation page, hope this helps! If you are not happy with the solution or if you need further help, you know where to find me! ;). AWB general fixes
Please avoid making insignificant edits with AWB such as only adding or removing some white space or moving a stub tag. See rules of use. Regards, Jogers (talk) 17:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- I actually avoid (or rather "ignore" as opposed to "save") these kinds of edits. No problem, I will try to further minimize those when editing. Cheers! Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 18:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Note
This may seem a tad random, but, being bored, I did a quick search on my username, and found out that it was, quite randomly, on a prestigious user's page. Not only was I quite freaked out, (had I actually been caught?) I was also surprised to see that Nousernamesleft was actually known out of his little bubble. So I'm dropping in to say that we're two different people. ;) !!!! (talk) 23:33, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Auawise-
I would like to delete certain copy from a contribution due to innacuracies. I have read about the recommended course of action and will open a discussion. However, could you please tell me who comprises the "Wikipedia community" and how it is determined whether or not a desired change is acceptable?
Thanks.

Monobook.css
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure what the code does myself, but it appears to be related to another piece of code,
importScript('User:Ais523 non-admin/adminrights.js');
which goes on a .js page. They should, when utilized, highlight the names of admins on things like your watchlist. Since I'm not very well versed in technical stuff, I can direct you to User:Penubag, who was kind enough to instruct me as to how to use these scripts, if you're interested. My talk page, under the topic "Question", also has the same instructions I followed to get the scripts to work. Comandante Talk 19:14, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- Well, good for a twelve-year-old, I guess. According to AMC, it's comfortably in the top 2%. A perfect is 150, and only a few people score that each year. Tbe AMC is a friendly not-school-related competition, as judged by the name, so is pretty different from the A-levels, it seems. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 19:48, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

WP ads
I am not sure if someone else had asked you this before, but I will ask you about this anyway. I was wandering around WP, when I saw a couple of WPAds that you made, like this one . I could not help but to wonder what kind of software you used to create these gif pieces of art? :)
I am planning to do one myself, so I came here because other ads seem inferior to yours! :)
Λua∫Wise (Operibus anteire) 14:43, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- I've been using Macromedia Flash 5, which came out... 2001-ish? It's really a very old piece of software, it's just so old that it makes everything nice with a couple of very simple clicks. :D I'm actually trying to see if Adobe Fireworks CS3 (Macromedia got bought out by Adobe) will make decent animations. I'm pretty sure the other ads aren't really inferior, they've just been made so that the Ad wouldn't be too "flashy". Anyways, let me know if you need a couple of pointers in case you get stuck, but haha I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer your question. The ads I've been making have been a hit or miss kind of deal. Just remember to make the ads to conform to the Template:Wikipedia ads guidelines. :D - Jameson L. Thanks :D. I will actually buy Flash CS3 today, kindda expensive though. I hope it has a user-friendly interface, because I quite honestly never worked with flash before. Recall
Hey, I have to ask your opinion on something. Should I add myself to Category:Wikipedia administrators open to recall? On one hand, it does avoid the bureaucracy of ArbCom. On the other hand, certain cases have created more drama than they've helped relieve, so I'm undecided. Nousernamesleftcopper, not wood 14:33, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

So, I need help with this whole SVG business. I can't get Paint Shop Pro 9 or Fireworks CS3 to export my graphics into SVG format. What should I do? Thanks Auawise for your welcome info. Could you explain how IMDB, TV.com, Yahoo TV, etc. are on the majority of TV shows' external links on wikipedia? I am not sure how they were able to post the links without it being considered spamming. I have read the external links guidelines and feel that the entity pages on fancast.com meet the same criteria but I am not sure how I can post them on my favorite TV show sites like other entity page sites have (i.e. tv.com, tv guide, yahoo tv, etc.) I feel that Fancast offers a more meaningful relevent content than some of the external links posted. Any advice you could provide would be appreciated. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RobinDagos (talk • contribs) 20:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks Auawise, I'd love to try, but as you've already mentioned I probably don't have enough wikipedia namespace edits, so maybe it would be best to wait for a month or two, I hope that should be enough to improve on weak areas, especially since I was gonna work on that anyway. I've been slightly busy this month, but hopefully I'll have more spare time starting from tomorrow. What do you think? And thanks again. BanRay 17:11, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- no, I haven't been in any edit wars and getting a few hundred wp edits won't take long. GAs/FAs, however, might be a problem, as I guess I'm more of a wikignome type of editor. I enjoy writing and expanding stubs, but I rarely work on near finished articles just to promote them to GA. I've planned to expand Pirita and Tijani Babangida, but never got around to. Getting at least a couple of articles to GA will take time. So maybe it would be better to wait a bit, I don't know BanRay 19:44, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. Just a comment about myself: My personallity means I have virtually no creativity/ideas in most things (which will include WikiProject Iraq). All I can do is search and critisize (i.e. maintenance - find/fix/publicize problems). I am willing to help, just the ideas have to come from someone else (i.e. not me). Though I visit Wikipedia alot (several times a day), I dont often login (this means I dont often see messages sent to me and so there may be delays between a message sent to me and a response from me - like what has just happened). The article Apple you nominated as a good article has failed , see Talk:Apple for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of said article. If you oppose this decision, you may ask for a reassessment. - Now that I want the article deleted...Only ONE person has voted. That won't get the article deleted! Ughhh! RingPOPmom (talk) 09:24, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- Every time I write something, someone always finds something to tag the article. I'm tired of trying to defend everything. I know that if the editors looked at the articles under the American child actors, they could find 100's that have less than my article had and those articles should be deleted according to Wikipedia standards, yet they are still on. I'm fine with deleting the article. Cept with only two votes, it'll probably stay on AGAIN...I really hope it gets taken off. RingPOPmom (talk) 17:14, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- THANK GOD...no more article! It finally got deleted! RingPOPmom (talk) 00:43, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
{{Baghdad-stub}}
Hi - I see you have recently created one or more new stub types. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it is otherwise correctly formatted, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 23:43, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again - you wrote: The stub was created only yesterday, and I have not had a chance to tag articles with it. If you think I should have proposed it first, go ahead and do what you have to do. I will run it through proper channels in the future first. Thanks!
- If something's listed on the discoveries page there's usually no immediate worry of it being deleted - it's just to notify the stub-sorting project that it exists. If it doesn't reach the required standards for a stub type after a month or two then we'd probably look at proposing it for deletion, but you've got time to work on it. As to the stubs themselves, given that your WikiProject is for Iraq as a whole, not "Wikiproject Baghdad", the threshold level for a separate category is 60 stubs. So if you can find 60 stubs on Baghdad, then chances are the category will be kept (note - changing a plain iraq-stub to baghdad-stub is fine on articles, but if they're something like iraq-geo-stub then add baghdad-stub to it as a separate template). If you can't reach 60, then it's likely the template will be kept but upmerged (i.e., it'll lead back into the main Category:Iraq stubs). So for now, it's simply a case of trying to find Baghdad stubs. Grutness...wha? 23:18, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
- You're right that a stub type for a capital city is a lot less controversial than some (you should see the fun we've had with Kosovo stubs!), but even then there are still some things that are taken into consideration (like the size of the stub category). Also, since stub-sorters understandably do much of the work with sorting stubs into their different types, it's worth keeping them in the loop when new stub types are made - otherwise they won't be able to sort articles into the correct stub categories. Cheers, Grutness...wha? 00:25, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Cat: Rock formations in New york
Hi again - you wrote: Could you please advice on this category which I stumbled on by chance (Category:Rock formations in New York)
Looks fine to me, even though it is pretty small. The 60-stub limit's only for stub categories, not for "permanent" categories like this one. As to why, it's a long story, but as briefly as I can, there's a difference in use between "permcats" and "stubcats". A permcat is used by readers to help navigate between articles, so the size isn't really that crucial. A stubcat is for use by editors looking for something to edit, and size becomes a bit more important with that, since no-one really wants to either wade through a category with several throusand articles looking for the few they can edit, or hunt through a dozen tiny categories in the hope of finding one article they can do something with. Because of that, an optimum size of 60-800 is used with stubcats - anything larger is split into more finely grained categories, anything too small is upmerged into a slightly more general category. AHope that makes sense. Grutness...wha? 00:16, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
