You are involved in a recently filed request for arbitration. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case#GMO articles and, if you wish to do so, enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit to the Arbitration Committee. As threaded discussion is not permitted in most arbitration pages please ensure that you make all comments in your own section only. Not another Barnstar!

I'd like to thank you for drawing my attention to the larger pattern of what's going on at ArbCom. I think there are some editors who want to make others afraid to speak up, and remembered some unpleasantries recently and well, I see you have gotten various blocks. I honestly don't know if they were deserved, or not, or somewhere in between, but suddenly this ancient artifact from olden times came to mind, and I thought you might be amused to receive...

The block log Barnstar
(...heisted and neccroed from User:Youreallycan/Block log barnstar) - I would like to use this opportunity to thank User:Atsme for her fine contributions to Wikipedia over the years and welcome her to the contributors that got a little heated club and allegedly made that caring extra revert or comment. Many thanks for all your work here. Respect and best wishes to you from Jusdafax 18:21, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
Thx, Jusdafax. I am currently working on a "Free Pick-Up (at the train station)" Award to go with some of my other humorous banners to keep things from getting too serious. I still don't know exactly what I did that was so terribly wrong it deserved a block because there was no evidence (diffs) provided to support any of the claims. It appears I angered some in the same group of editors who openly hate my creation of AVDUCK. Maybe if they had provided at least one diff supporting their claims, we would know for certain, but all I got were tons of aspersions. I did admit that I should have responded kinder to being railroaded at ANI which led to the block, and I did learn something from it all. (forgot to add) My apologies to those I apologized to were sincere because in retrospect, I do realize I should have responded to the allegations differently, but please forgive me for believing the punishment did not fit the crime. Sadly, some editors have come at me with preconceived notions, but at the same time, others have been absolute sweethearts, including a few who supported the block. I have not faltered in my belief that truth will prevail, and I hope it will reveal itself sooner than later. Atsme📞📧 19:08, 11 September 2015 (UTC) add-on 20:32, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

Jusdafax, regarding the blocks on my block log which you mentioned above (and I'm just now responding to).....

  1. shouldn't even be there. I was wrongfully accused of posting personal info (outing). The block should have been redacted from the log. I spent nearly 12 hrs. pleading innocent before the block was removed with the following explanation: (OK, not copied from email replies, available on-wiki).
  2. edit warring - I was a newbie, but ignorance of the law is no excuse and we were both blocked. It appears to me that since I didn't have tenure or protection or whatever, I had to sit out my 36 hr. block while his was expeditiously removed despite his incivility. Aspersions in ArbCom

Hi Atsme. You might remember that Alexbrn cast aspersions of COI either at you or I during the evidence phase of ArbCom.[2] Did you ever hear about this from ArbCom or receive a withdrawal from Alexbrn? I clearly do not want to know about any details, but if you have, I might consider this matter closed. I have not received any communication from ArbCom or Alexbrn, and I am considering proposing a sanction at ArbCom about this aspersion.DrChrissy (talk) 12:49, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Good day, DrChrissy - if you're referring to his comment about my humorous banner and your borg, I have not pursued it. I've been the target of his distateful comments for so long that I've learned to consider the source and simply ignore it. I think it's best to prioritize by level of importance at ArbCom and his out-in-left-field misapprehension is unimportant to me. Atsme📞📧 13:05, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi - thanks for the quick reply. No, I wasn't thinking about the "Birds and the Borgs" (I like that!), it was about his comment, "Reviewing edit histories I have – irony of ironies - some concerns about a possibly undisclosed COI from one of the participants here, and will email arbcom separately to avoid outing." This is IMO well worth prioritising. Because Alexbrn does not make it totally clear whether it is you or I he is accusing, I was just checking whether this might have been sorted out without my knowing. "Live long and prosper"...Spock (2250).DrChrissy (talk) 13:13, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
I have had a good look at the section again and there is a paragraph separator between his discussion about you and I, and the reference to a possible undisclosed COI - this aspersion could have been about anybody! GAN

Your GAN nomination for Gabor B. Racz has been hanging around for some time but I think I had better not review it after my first effort was criticized. Someone will take it on in the end.

Would you consider reviewing one of my four outstanding nominations at GAN, being Parsnip, Greylag goose, Purple heron and Ruddy shelduck? I wouldn't ask, but the final round of the WikiCup is finishing at the end of the month and the position is finely balanced. The present leader has got all his points from Featured Pictures, and he also has a total of 1380 FP bonus points that are not readily apparent on the scoreboard. I seem to remember you have several featured pictures so you will know that when FPs are nominated, people support or oppose them, and with sufficient support the image is promoted ten days later. With GAs, it is a much more chancy business as you know, and the nominations may hang around for months before they are reviewed. I am not far behind in the WikiCup and need all the points I can get. Have you got any more GANs or FAs in the pipeline? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:47, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Filmmaking?

Hi Atsme, is Filmmaking what you meant to link to here or something more Wikipedia guideline-y? Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:29, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: - something more guideline-y if you can point me to it. Atsme📞📧 19:35, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Well MOS:FILM would be the best place to go. Some elements of what the IP user was suggesting might be reasonable to include. Not sure. Don't have much time to look at it now anyway. I thought you'd just made a typo or something. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:42, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: - ok, but isn't all the coulda-shoulda-woulda but didn't irrelevant - as in who cares? There are thousands of misses during development - what counts is what actually happens, right? For example, it wouldn't be too unlike saying he was one of 150 candidates to be nominated for an Oscar, but he wasn't nominated. Oh well - why even bother to mention it? I could see where it would be noteworthy to say Leonardo DiCaprio was considered for the lead role, but he turned it down and the movie went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Uh huh - now that's notable. (anything with Leo's name is notable to me). 😃 Atsme📞📧 20:16, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes, your point has merit. Although, for instance, it might be worth noting that Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly in Back to the Future and footage was shot for a few weeks with him in the lead, but the studio/director didn't like the direction he went and recast the role with Michael J. Fox. However, per your point, without any context, it probably doesn't matter that a director was considering different leads for another movie, because all films go through audition processes, and everybody has a list of actors they think would be good for their film. So, I'm not outright criticizing your point. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:38, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

The working cattle competition articles would benefit from sources and overall upgrading if you are familiar with that area; I simply haven't had the time to get to them with the other 3000 articles at WPEQ and my recent fondness for working on racehorse articles... cutting (sport), reining, Working cow horse (or reined cow horse, whichever works), team penning, ranch sorting, etc... see {{Equestrian Sports}} Montanabw(talk) 07:29, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
There are some famous Quarter and Paint Horses who are notable enough but don't have their own articles, too, if you want to do that. Hi, Ellanorani - it was my pleasure to help. The article has good general information and it's quite informative which is what we expect to see in encyclopedic articles. The images are an enhancement and help to keep readers reading. I tend to work a little slower than most when preparing articles for GA or FA because I like to walk away from it for a day or two, and then come back and see it with fresh eyes. I'd like to work on copyediting next - tighten the prose - and then review it again and try for a little better balance with the image layout. Once that's done, I'll nominate it and we can collaborate to address any issues the reviewer may find. Thank you for touching base with me. It is much appreciated. I understand, Ellanorani. One of the three core content policies of WP is WP:NOR, and without being able to cite RS it becomes quite difficult to improve/expand an article. It's ok to take a break from it and then come back with a fresh mind. I'm working on a couple of other projects right now and will try to get back to Faisalabad within the week. P.S. Love the butterfly!DrChrissy (talk) 22:36, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
DrChrissy, my section is below yours so I don't think it was anything I did. The parts I hatted in my section are closed with a hab, although there was a moment I forgot to add the hab but fixed it right away. What I'm seeing now is a green hat bar in your section that reads Extended content and when I click on "show" I'm seeing comments by Minor4th above your chart. She hatted some stuff above you so that may be the inadvertent culprit. I'll ping Minor4th so she can give it a look-see. Atsme📞📧 00:05, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Cheers!DrChrissy (talk) 00:26, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Oops! I'll try to fix it. Minor4th 02:46, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

HELP! I can't figure out how to fix it. Minor4th 02:54, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

All fixed. You had a rogue {{cob}} at the end. yes Atsme📞📧 03:37, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

It's magic!! *LOL* Between the Arb case and a busy editing day today, I'm beat. Will start fresh on all of this tomorrow. Thank you for the invitation, Montanabw. Atsme📞📧 03:10, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
I've decided to only post when pinged at Arbcom, and not always then... can be such a time sink... Montanabw(talk) 03:20, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
You are clearly much smarter than I, Montanabw. I gave in to the temptation, and tried to bring some attention to what I felt was an injustice regarding Petrarchan's proposed TB. *sigh* Now I'll work on some horse articles which usually makes me smile reminiscently. 😊 Atsme📞📧 15:33, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
I've given into temptation many times; luckily this time I have been too slammed in real life to worry about wiki. Triage is a beautiful thing, sometimes... :P. Montanabw(talk) 17:23, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Oh, no - Triage? If so, I hope it all works out the way you wanted. Atsme📞📧 17:26, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

I !voted - did you?

[4] Vet the candidates and vote for the ones you believe will (1) uphold PAGs, (2) make decisions that are fair and reasonable, and (3) have left their POV at login. Also make sure they have the time to thoroughly review each case, and will take the time necessary to carefully analyze the diffs provided in evidence and make sure they support the allegations, otherwise they're just aspersions. Decisions should not be made based on aspersions. Double standards and favoritism are also unacceptable so if you see any indication that an arb candidate may employ double standards, don't vote for that candidate. One last thing - it is definitely a plus if they have GAs and FAs to their credit because it's a good indication they know what it means to comply with NPOV and how to properly use RS, particularly where BLPs are concerned. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Actually, I voted the first day!! Anyone else? Atsme📞📧 19:09, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Me too! I voted the first day, got the notice the second day. I'm seeing this happening all over the place, and people complaining all over the place. I've also seen people get three copies of the notice simultaneously, and I've seen the notice try to be posted at Talk:Axon and Talk:Invisible Pink Unicorn. Maybe I'll change myself from a fish to a unicorn and vote twice. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:28, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
That could make you a bivalve voter! ;-) DrChrissy (talk) 19:33, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Maybe two out of three? I won't even attempt to top that one! --Tryptofish (talk) 20:07, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

I voted the second day -- before I got my notice :) You know, Atsme, if you are unhappy with your vote, you can vote again and it will replace your first vote. (I read the rules cuz I'm a dork). Minor4th 19:44, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, Minor4th - that's good information. Somebody has to read the rules before they can ignore them. 🤗 My focus now is on the pun-ishment from two of my favorite WP collaborators: one is a fish out of water, the other filters words and tries not to make waves; both leave little pearls of wisdom. Yes, the world is my oyster...and I'll take mine on the half-shell, please, with a lager light on tap. 🍺 Bartender! A round for everyone! The voting has begun!! 🍻🍻 Atsme📞📧 01:16, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Fish out of water?? Where's that bartender?! And that bartender better have something stronger than water! --Tryptofish (talk) 18:28, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
🐠🐟🐡 trout Self-trout <---Fish out of water. 👀 I tripped a fish. Bartender!!! Another round here, please. Pour my guests whatever they want - Tryptofish is a fish, so you could say he's a heavy drinker; i.e., having gills is like being tethered to an IV. Atsme📞📧 18:38, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

I imagine the John Dory has been frequented by a slippery dick or two. Oh my, the pun-ishment is excruciatingly punful. One spawns another and another until you have entire schools going coastal. Atsme📞📧 19:40, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Fortunately for me, I'm in the US, so at least I don't have to deal with spotted dick. --Tryptofish (talk) 19:59, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Bowfin deception?

Hi. I'm editing the Fish intelligence article and it contains "Bowfin (Amia calva) males caring for their free-swimming fry exhibit a related distraction display when a potential fry-predator approaches; they move away and thrash about as if injured, drawing the predator's attention toward himself". I know you are an expert in these "primitive fish" and I was wondering whether you have heard of, or observed, this behaviour?DrChrissy (talk) 16:02, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

DrChrissy, I've neither heard of feigning behavior nor witnessed it but there is documentation that the male aggressively protects the fry and will circle them to keep them together. (Breder and Rosen 1966) There is rather limited documentation on their behavior in the wild, much the same as what I experienced when I went digging for alligator gar info. I actually had bowfin slated for inclusion in the ancestral fish series I produced back in the 90s, and had started the research but bowfin are difficult to find in the wild (probably more so now). There also wasn't much interest in them back then by either state or federal resource agencies. I imagine the only interest in them now would be for their roe. Atsme📞📧 17:42, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks very much for this. To be honest, I am a little bit sceptical about the feigning behaviour, but that is probably L'l ol' sceptical me. A source is supplied, so it is verifiable, but I thought I would ask anyway. Hope you are enjoying the roller-coaster ride at the "other place"! ;-) DrChrissy (talk) 17:53, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Pictures

This is a little out of your horsey comfort zone, but could you please check out the photo request on Talk:Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration? I used the search tool and found two Flickr images, (one of I Am Jose, which could go on his article!) that are licensed CC BY SA. When I tried to upload them I kept getting a notice that it was disallowed; I think because I don't have a Flickr account and wasn't filling in those parameters. Could you check it out and possibly upload them? Thanks, I just don't know how to do this. White Arabian Filly (Neigh) 21:34, 16 November 2015 (UTC) ADD: The pictures (one of the black horse, one of the arena and grandstands) appear but then are outlined in red, and... they don't upload even though they are supposedly free to upload to Commons. Not great pictures but they are better than nothing. Thanks for any help. White Arabian Filly (Neigh) 02:16, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Post the flickr links here or at WPEQ and we can look at them, they have to be both commercial use and mods allowed, or unrestricted CC... the disallowed notice is probably that the licensing isn't right...Commons can be such a B--- to upload stuff to... Montanabw(talk) 04:20, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

White Arabian Filly, Montanabw - This is what I've found so far under a CC BY 2.0 license: [https://flic.kr/p/fSYtEE], [https://flic.kr/p/xtbnGv] both of which fit the TWHNC. Let me know if they're acceptable and I'll upload them to Commons. PS: when I hit save for this post, I got a notice that those links are blacklisted?? I nowiki linked them so you'll have to cut and paste to see them if we're even allowed to use them. Atsme📞📧 11:35, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

added - all uploaded and ready to go:

  • File:TennesseeWalkingHorseCeleb.jpg|thumb|The Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration
  • File:I Am Jose Win.jpg|thumb|2015 Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration, 3-Peat 2015 World Grand Champion, I Am Jose, ridden by trainer, Casey Wright
  • File:I Am Jose Celeb.jpg|thumb|"I Am Jose" and trainer Casey Wright, 2013 Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration World Grand Champion
I suspect that it is the shortened urls that flagged it funny. Posting the complete URL works. Another trick, to get a link to the photo but not the photo itself (this also works with categories) put a colon before the file name, and you get this. File:I Am Jose Win.jpg.
