Welcome to WP:PJTF, and a note about Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes
[edit]Hi there, new member! Welcome to the Percy Jackson Task-force! Thanks so much for being bold and creating Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes. I really am very happy to see your new work.
Unfortunately, there are a couple of things I would like to let you know about as we go on. The first is a gentle warning that, as your new article consists of mainly a list of characters supported by a single primary source, it may be subject to deletion by the new pages patrol. (Please check out this page and its companion to learn why primary sources make reviewers so uncomfortable.) If this does happen, don't worry! Not only is this something a lot of editors go through, WP:PJTF already has a draft of this page in-progress which can be used to fix up your article.
That is the other thing I need to tell you about. Member Zussman1 already created the page Draft:Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes back in August. When this user submitted his/her page for "articles for creation review" before making it a full article, it look almost exactly like yours does now. It was declined for the same reasons as my warning above. Because of this, WP:PJTF has been working to improve it by overhauling its "references", "reception", and "plot" sections, with plans to resubmit it again later. Pages in the Draft namespace, are not searchable by the general public, and so they can be edited more slowly -- they're sort of like first drafts of an essay you might write for a class. Pages in the Article namespace will come up in every Google search and therefore must present high-quality information. In the future, consider using the Article Wizard to create a draft and search for others' before moving straight to the article namespace. Now that there is a page about Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes in that namespace, our focus will be on making your article comply with Wikipedia and our parent project's content guidelines.
Basically, this message boils down to a warning that WP:PJTF editors may make substantial edits to your article -- but this is not a comment about you or your editing skills! Our project has simply made its job the maintenance of articles related to Percy Jackson & the Olympians, especially ones visible to the general public, and your article falls under that category.
What can you do next? You can certainly help edit Zussman1's draft, or continue to improve your own article. You can contact me on my Talk page (or other WP:PJTF members on the project's) for help or advice, and you can continue to follow the discussion you started here. Leave me a {{talkback}} if you post something on this talk page. Thanks again so much for joining WP:PJTF! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:50, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
- :( I did try my best to create a new article, but I'll now edit Zussman1's draft. Thanks ;) The Pancake of Heaven! 10:51, 4 November 2015 (UTC) (Tagging @2ReinreB2)

- Chapter Two: Psyche
- The second chapter, "Psyche Ninjas a Box of Beauty Cream" is about the Greek heroine and princess Psyche. Psyche was so beautiful that mortals around her home city began to worship her as an incarnation of the goddess Aphrodite, or possibly even as a new and improved version of that goddess. The people of her hometown never noticed her intelligence or piety, only her jealousy-inducing beauty, and so she spent her days friendless and miserable. When the goddess Aphrodite discovered the new Psyche-worship, she called on the god of romantic love, Eros (better known by his Roman name, Cupid), who some stories refer to as her son, and soma as her much older sibling. The goddess asked Eros to punish Psyche by making her fall in love with a monster. He replies, "I'm on it... uh, Mom. Don't worry.", and Aphrodite considers the matter closed.

Courtesy notice about a page I moved
[edit]Just wanted to let you know that I moved the userbox you made for WP:RRTF to this page. I did so firstly because it was originally titled "Wikipedia:Wikiproject..." instead of "Wikipedia:WikiProject..." which meant it didn't come up under searches for all of WP:NV's subpages. I then had to name it "2" because the userbox which used to be called "User Percy Jackson task force" just got moved to "User Rick Riordan task force", and I didn't want yours to be different only by capitalization. That would make it really easy for users to end up with the older version when they really wanted yours! Anyway, hope you don't mind my doing-first-and-asking-later. Sorry about the reversion
[edit]Hey there, The Pancake of Heaven!. Just wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit to the WP:RRTF members page not because I think you're not worthy of being a "senior member", but because I invented that term just to differentiate Benjamin112 from the rest of us. He's part of what I like to think of as the "old order" -- the people who founded the task force, but are (mostly) uninvolved now. It's sort of an honorific, to thank him for staying on with us newbies as we revamp the project. The word "senior" doesn't really mean "better"; it just sounds better than "old".
Anyway, hope you're not offended. That was absolutely not my intention. I tried to clarify somewhat on the page. I've been trying to work out a way of differentiating our relative "ages" and jobs on the page (since the current method clearly isn't that great) and I'd appreciate any advice you have. Besides creating a plethora of new content, this user has also contributed significantly to projects such as WP:CANUCKS, WP:RRTF, and WP:UBX. They have made numerous efforts to reach out to members and nonmembers of these projects alike, leading to both increased awareness of their goals and a welcome spirit of camaraderie. What is almost more impressive, however, is that this editor has floundered in the past, but bounced right back. [1],[2] After just over six months of contributing, they seem to have settled into a comfortable editing rhythm, and are hopefully here to stay. Props to a passionate rookie. Hello, you have notified the creator of this article that it is nominated for speedy deletion. They have come to the help-desk asking why and also saying they cannot find the 'contest' button. I think why is obvious to regular editors... but the speedy notice is missing from the page as far as I can see. I do not wish to get involved in the process personally as I intend to assist the creator; so, if you could add the speedy tag to the page that would be appreciated. Thanks. On my watchlist I noticed you've been given Rollback, so if it's okay with you I'd like you to check out WP:Huggle so you can learn about high speed vandal fighting. Assuming you didn't know about that anyway, but yes - you'd be really useful in counter-vandalism. Please let me know if you have any questions, cheers NottNott|talk 17:46, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

On MoTe2
[edit]Hey Pancake, although the edit is aggressive, the mentioning of that particular piece of information is incorrect, MoTe2 does not exhibit a phase change under exposure to a laser like what is described in that paper. In the coming year, there will be 2 papers released which provide direct evidence against this idea and proof that this is due to a formation of amorphous tellurium. Science is well known for publishing over the top articles which later turn out to not be entirely true. If you'd like any current proof, you can take a look at the science paper (listed reference 63) and compare their Raman spectrum from the supplementary to that of tellurium. I wanted to leave the correction in the wiki page... 68.59.127.215 (talk) 06:14, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
- 68.59.127.215: Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view. "Except that this is a boldface lie and it is actually amorphous Tellurium being formed, not a phase transition from 2H to 1T' - Proof can be seen through comparing Raman spectrums of Te to laser ablated 2H-MoTe2. " This is considered as your own opinion. On top of that, you did not post any sources. You can rephrase your words such as, "However, studies show..." and provide a reliable source from the Internet. Instead of using "boldface lie," you can and may use "may not be true." Please read Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia; I am not sure if your edit was in good faith. Thank you. →The Pancake of Heaven! (T • C) 06:21, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid categories
[edit]Hi, I've fulfilled the edit request to the best of my knowledge. There is now also the param |DOAWK-importance=
to assess importance. Note that now, articles will be automatically added to new task-force categories, most of which I believe I have created. The two categories that will list everything relevant (to my knowledge) are Category:Diary of a Wimpy Kid task force articles by importance and Category:Diary of a Wimpy Kid task force articles by quality. I've only created start-class and unassessed-class assessment categories, but more of these should be blue-linked as it happens. Thanks. — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 15:00, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- I actually went ahead and made a more generic category, Category:Diary of a Wimpy Kid task force articles, which I mentioned on the task force page. Please make any corrections as necessary. Note that the template {{WikiProject Novels}} will return the appropriate quality/importance categories automatically. Hope I've done the right things :) Let me know (and ping) if you have further questions. Thanks! — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 15:16, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- FYI, check out the categories under Category:Lemony Snicket task force articles, the 19 "quality" ones. I've created only three DOAWK quality categories for now, but once more articles are tagged, create the other categories (currently red-linked) as necessary. — Andy W. - Okay, thanks for your help! I'll check those categories. → The Pancakeof Heaven! 13:50, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

New photo in Anaheim Ducks' article
[edit]That photo can't be from a game on June 1, 2016, because regular season ended on April 10, 2016 and Ducks played against Maple Leafs on January 6, 2016 in their home arena. Furthermore, it's been a while since Maple Leafs made it to the playoffs... – Sabbatino (talk) 08:27, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

On RRTF/Inviting members and /Becoming a coordinator
[edit]Hey there, The Pancake of Heaven!. I just wanted to quickly touch base with you about the page you created called Wikipedia:RRTF/Inviting members. I really appreciate your enthusiasm in creating this, but I wish you'd talked it over with the force before you did, as it's not really appropriate.
Recruitment is very difficult for a small task force like ours, and the last thing we want to do is scare people away or discourage members from bringing others in. While this "open recruitment" policy (if you will) can sometimes end up bringing in less-than-ideal newbies, it is what has allowed our force to remain active. When I began the process of reviving the force this time last year, there were quite literally no active members. And while it's not something I'd like to talk about, because I don't want to guilt you into agreeing with me -- had I adhered to the guidelines you've laid out, none of our most productive members -- yourself included -- would be here today.
So that's why I must strongly object to these member guidelines. In particular, the banning of IPs, the banning of editors with possible histories as vandals, and the entire section about removing inactive editors. As far as inviting vandals and IPs goes, that is up to the discretion of the RRTF member (or nonmember, maybe from WP:NV). Removing editors -- that's just not good either; we only remove people who fail to respond to annual roll-calls, because otherwise our enrolment would drop and we'd go back to being semi-active rather than active. Plus, it's not up to us to say when an editor gets to take a more-than-two-week vacation to someplace without the glories of the internet. RRTF took a vote on whether to change the member requirements and the verdict was no.
One last thing: your other new page, Wikipedia:RRTF/Becoming a coordinator, is also not appropriate. The whole WP:NV coordinator thing -- there's just one coordinator, the person listed here -- and their job is just to smooth stuff over with WP:NV. There's no application or anything; I personally got the job because I talked to the previous coordinator about helping revive RRTF, but they were busy and made me coordinator so they could work on other things. I would be more than happy to give the job to somebody else -- but it's not something our taskforce does. It's more like, the coordinator is the liaison to WikiProject Novels, who are our bosses. They coordinator has to answer for any mistake we make, and they're the person somebody outside the project would get in touch with if they needed info or something. But the coordinator doesn't have any more power or special responsibilities in our task force, and the fact that they're coordinator actually makes them a member of WP:NV.
If you disagree with anything I've said, please say so either to me personally or discuss it with the force as a whole. Wikipedia is led by majority rule, not by the feelings of one editor. I agree with your sentiments that we need to be careful about who we invite, and that we should have some sort of job center for RRTF. I just don't think we should be banning and removing people (or encouraging that behavior), nor should we be treating a single, out-of-our-hands position as something you can be elected to. I've been trying to draft some "jobs" for the force (like "Praetor of Camp Jupiter" for the person ultimately in charge of The Heroes of Olympus fact-checking) but there really aren't enough people to justify a bunch of positions, and I don't want to offend somebody by making a post they might want, but not get voted into. Please, please talk to me if you've got ideas -- I'd love to have somebody else's help.
Thanks so much for reading to the end! :) -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 23:34, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- @2ReinreB2::No problem! Should I mark them for speedy deletion? Thanks. → The Pancakeof Heaven! 13:06, 4 August 2016 (UTC)
- Speedy deletion is your call, ultimately (read this stuff if you decide to do so). I think at least one page could be repurposed if the force decides to make a "jobs" page/section, just not the current info on it mostly. But I don't think they'd be a big loss, if they were deleted. I leave it entirely up to you, and thank you for being so understanding. Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 00:38, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
