- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}

[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 17:11, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
Some of your edits and edits and having them reverted
[edit]I noticed you ended up engaged with an editor that does a lot of reverting. Keep in mind the 3RR rule; If you made the change, and someone reverts it, and you revert it back, the onus is on them to move that to a discussion page. This particular Mr. has made some very good edits to some of my posts, but also some that show what I believe to be an intentional misinterpretation of guidelines; you can ignore the latter, and still let the article benefit from the former. The editor has in fact been cited in at least one article as a sign of issues with Wikipedia, and has dealt with several AN3-notices. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franchisemichael (talk • contribs) 22:29, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

- After consulting a checkuser, the two users are unrelated, & the block mistaken. Apologies for the block. Cabayi (talk) 18:46, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
