Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! -- [[User:MacGyverMagic|Mgm|(talk)]] 19:34, Oct 28, 2004 (UTC)

Why did you remove the MobyGames link from Flashback?

Hello.

Hey there, man. I have been looking for somebody to work on La Femme Nikita with for the longest time... are going to work on it in the near future?

Writting articles alone can be a real pain, that's why I haven't touched it yet, despite the fact that I really want to. You know, not having anybody to consult with or expand the article when you don't have anything new to add really sucks.

Anyway, drop me a message, Sn0wflake 03:24, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hi Arthena

I have recieved your message. I am also a new member who has just discovered this amazing websight. I now know about the rules and thanks for your message.

lol ops

Hi. Sorry about saving the many versions of Heartworm I'm sorta new so that's why. :P Thanks for the compliment! Bye. (Lucky you live in Amsterdam :)

Hi Arthena

Thank you (very belatedly) for your initial creation of Roy Dupuis and also for recently trying to restore some important information that was removed by an administrator unfamiliar with the subject.

In one spot, re: "stage performances" (which that administrator changed from a complete list to a selected one before semi-protecting the article and talk pages), there are typographical errors. The name of the author of a play has been inadvertently dropped and there is a blank space instead, probably in altering an external link to internal (yet unpopulated) ones. Perhaps you could fix that. Thanks.

It would also be useful to add more internal Wikipedia links double brackets around names of titles, authors, and other potential Wikipedia article subjects. A "See also" section with Wikipedia internal links to Cinema of Quebec and other useful resources relating to "Roy Dupuis" could also be a useful new section. (I still think that it would be better to list "Stage Performances" in a separate section (not as part of "Selected Awards"--which seems to be an error) and that all of the plays could be listed at least by title, author, and date consistently (there are some discrepancies in format now too introduced in your or others' deletions). I see no point in omitting two or three plays or awards, when the list could be complete and still not much longer than it is. I myself can't make the changes since the article and the talk page are still semi-protected, but maybe you can. Thanks!

Here's the section (also needs italics for titles of plays and other typographical corrections, which I'm providing below:) There may have been other performances that Roy Dupuis did on stage, so calling the list "Selected" is probably accurate and a safe option:
<<==Selected Stage Performances==

[You'll need to take out the coded : and <</>>.]

(I see no reason to lop off merely one to three works just to make it a "selection" instead of a fuller list, and to put the section in with Awards (which are film or tv awards!) The few awards currently omitted could easily be restored as well without adding much to the length of the article or making it seem less concise and "encyclopedic." See Encyclopedia. There is no need to suppress such useful and interesting information when one knows it it! To delete this kind of information is really a violation of Wikipedia:Editing policy. I still don't see how doing so improves the article. In contrast, the omissions weaken it.

Throughout the list, I tried to incorporate the typographical features (italics) and put the dates following consistently (they are dates of the performances, not dates of the works themselves). Ones currently omitted are among Roy Dupuis' relatively-few stage performances; some photos from them are featured on the webpages of the National Theatre School of Canada (which has its own Wikipedia article)!

Feel free to re-incorporate (concisely) relevant information from earlier versions of the article as long as it stays within Wikipedia:Editing policy, Wikipedia:External links, and Wikipedia:Citing sources and therefore doesn't trigger further administrative interference. Thank you so much for all and any of your help! --Gentility 23:40, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Gentility

Hi Arthena:

I was able to make some of the emendations and corrections suggested above. Thanks for your initial and subsequent contributions to the article.--NYScholar 08:59, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/De dust

Hi. I've just given you a big trout-slap in this deletion debate. I'm dropping a note here to hopefully lessen the sting, but if you don't tell why you want something kept, it's not possible for people to evaluate (and possibly refute) your arguments. - brenneman {L} 01:01, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thanks for your reversion of vandalism against {{Wiktionary}}. User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 11:46, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Last Supper

Before I move The Last Supper there can I ask if you looked at this? It's how the page was before it got turned into a redirect so there may be some info that needs to be collected first. Also if I move it I would ask that you take care of the redirects, especially the double redirects. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 23:48, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Singles are OK but there would be doubles. However, you now need to talk it over with User talk:Ardric47 as he has contested it. I'm going to restore the redirect to The Last Supper until it's sorted. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:04, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Just thought, if there is consensus for a move then list it at Wikipedia:Requested moves rather than a speedy. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 00:08, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

I'm not opposed to the move, I'm just trying to save the history. The two revisions to which you linked on my talk page are not the same. Ardric47 00:14, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
I think they've fixed it now. Cut-and-paste moves are probably the most confusing thing I've ever encountered on Wikipedia. I had to click through about five times just to understand the revisions that you posted, because I didn't know that the navigation between revisions was ordered by "oldid": if you go to [1], you can click on "Older revision" and end up at a version that is about one year newer! Ardric47 00:37, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
It's already been moved. Ardric47 00:45, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! Learn something new everyday. :) Marikology 04:56, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for the tip. I'm a new Wikipedian : ( But I'll get right on fixing that. Thanks again! Yale2010 00:10, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Moving articles

When you move an article you should use the 'move' option, next to 'history'. If you move like this the page history will be moved along, which is considered very important. You should not move pages using copy/paste. Thank you. Arthena 10:36, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your message, I didn't know. Greyclair

castro valley high school

please stop making changes to castro valley high school, it is fine the way it is 75.41.244.63 00:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Zoe Slusar

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Zoe Slusar, which you proposed for deletion. I am leaving this message here to notify you about it.

You hadn't listed a reason for {{prod}}ing this article. I went ahead and cleaned up the article. I'm not sure if you can re{{prod}} the article if I haven't met your concerns or if you'll need to file an AfD on it. I don't think that there is much more that I could add to the article but I would appreciate being informed on my talk page if you do mark it for deletion again.

If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to it. Instead, feel free to list the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! ~ BigrTex 16:19, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

VOLUNTEER ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

You stated that there were never voluntary active members of Wikimedia Foundation Inc. could you please provide some kind of reasoned logic behind this beyond suggesting that someone said so on some mailing list? Or maybe I misunderstood? There were several elections and these elections were not open to the public, only to members. Are you suggesting that those elections to the board were all invalid? This is what those bylaws stated about volunteer active members:

This membership shall be open to all persons interested in supporting the activities of the foundation who have contributed under a user name to any Wikimedia project prior to the election ballot request deadline. The board may set minimum contribution requirements for the purpose of eliminating fraudulent votes. Volunteer Active Members shall have all the privileges of Contributing Active Members. Volunteer Active Members are automatically qualified to vote, do not need to register as a member prior to voting, and can opt out of membership at any time.

Please explain, as I helped Jimbo write those original bylaws and they were submitted to the IRS in support of the WMF tax exempt status (and thus form part of the basis upon which it was granted), so I would like to understand what you are talking about? Thank you. Alex756 18:57, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
