- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:

In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. Unexplained changes
[edit]Many of your edits have been reverted and some have introduced incorrect English, for example diff. Please take more care.
It is important that an edit summary is used to explain why changes are made. For example, why did this edit change "1997" to "1998"? Johnuniq (talk) 02:07, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- @ArsheyaSagar: You have resumed editing without replying so let me explain that I am an administrator who noticed the report at the ANI noticeboard. Editors must be willing and able to communicate. Why was "1997" changed to "1998"? Do you have any thoughts about my above example of incorrect English? Johnuniq (talk) 09:35, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
