Uttam Rai (born 20 December 1996 in Namchi, Sikkim) is an Indian footballer who plays as a striker for the IMG Soccer Academy in Florida, United States and for the India national under-16 football team.
Early Career
Rai was born on 20 December 1996 in Namchi, Sikkim, India. In 2007 Uttam joined the Namchi Football Academy, under the Search for More Bhaichungs program [2], in which he played in the Subroto Cup for two years. [1] His highlight of the tournament was when he scored four goals in only 35 minutes against Sri Vyas Vidya Mandir, a game Namchi won 13–0. [1] After the 2007 Subroto Cup, Uttam gained a scholarship for Air Force School Football Academy who are based in Delhi where he stayed for two years. While with Air Force Uttam played in the Subroto Cup and in the DSA School Level League. [1] Uttam played in the Subroto Cup for three seasons scoring 32 goals. [3] He was then selected for the Subroto XI team which would tour Europe. While on tour Uttam received an offer from Swiss club Grasshopper Club Zürich who play in the Swiss Super League after Rai played two games against them for Subroto XI and scored three goals. [4] However, due to being unable to gain a work permit Uttam came back to India. [1] After coming back to India, Uttam was selected for the India team to play in the Tata Tea Jago Re tournament and travelled with an U16 squad to play some matches and train in Arsenal Academy. [1] While at the tournament Uttam played against Canada, South Africa and England in first few rounds. India were knocked out after losing 7-5, after a semi-final against Spain. [1]
In 2010 Uttam gained a selection to join the IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida, United States with 14 other players from the India U16s. [1] In 2011 Uttam played in the 2011 Dallas Cup for the India U16s but sadly it ended early for him as he got injured. [1] One year later after scoring six goals in only four games during the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification Uttam was named as one of the Top 10 Players To Watch Out For during the 2012 Dallas Cup. [5] However he did not score in any of the three matches for India during the Dallas Cup as India went 0-1-2. [6]
International Career
Uttam made his country debut at the under-14 level for India in 2010 during the AFC U14 Football Festival. [2] He then made his debut for the India U16 on 1 October 2011 in the first match of the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship qualification against Kyrgyzstan and marked it off as he scored 5 goals during that match. [7] Rai then scored again for the India U16s against Tajikistan on 7 October 2011 as India qualified for the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship. [8]

Request reason:
This is not a request, I shall serve my 1 month but I have noticed some vandalism on my watchlist which no one has reverted yet. Now I made a section above saying that there was vandalism on the India national football team page but no one replied or did anything so I had no choice. Again I am sorry for this. Anyway there is vandalism at the Shillong Lajong F.C. page which you can see here. I just wanted to bring this to attention. Again sorry, I am not abusing the unblock request. I dont want this to happen again as I know a lot of vandalism will occur in the next month so is there a way I can remain blocked and still notify about vandalism. Cheers and sorry again.
Decline reason:
Apology accepted, but please do not abuse unblock templates this way. Doing so is a good way to get your talk page access revoked. Other editors can catch vandalism and spamming as easily as you can. If it becomes more frequent, we can semi-protect those pages so that only autoconfirmed editors can change it, but right now there simply isn't enough disruptive activity. ~Amatulić (talk) 17:33, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

- Thank you Sputnik for doing this while I am blocked. First off how is this a non-notable youth competition. It is the official youth league of the I-League for gods sake. Is there a certain degree of notability a youth league needs or not. If you can keep 2011-12 A-League National Youth League or 2011-12 Premier Academy League or the 2010 Korean National Youth Football League (incomplete may I add) and the 2010–11 Coupe Gambardella and not to mention the 2011–12 División de Honor Juvenil de Fútbol. This is a tournament I have information for and can 100% say is notable. This goes for the 2011 and 2012 versions. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 02:19, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- Don't worry about this. Someone else removed the prod tag from both articles, which I think is probably justified given your attempts to improve one of the articles on this page. I don't believe that formally proposing these articles for deletion at WP:AFD would be justified at this time. ~Amatulić (talk) 04:06, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you mate. Sadly that is not the case as Sputnik has opened the AfD here. If they want third-party sources than I can give it to them. Just wait till I am unblocked. God why not listen to Mentoz. Yes we have other Indian Football editors but they dont specialize in these kind of things. They just come on and edit team articles and all that. When they do this there reason's always colide with WP:OTHERSTUFF. Bloddy hell, I hope people see why I evaded my block. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 14:05, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I mean look at the hypocrite statements. There main reason is "these articles fail WP:GNG; any meaningful content beyond sports results (of which there is minimum) should be merged with the I-League U20 parent article." YET WHAT CAN THEY SAY ABOUT 2011-12 Premier Academy League. All they have is tables. Then what about the 2011-12 A-League National Youth League which only has results and goalscorers. I went the extra mile. I made different tables for all the groups along with the scores. I made 3 different goalscorers boxes. If they dont think this article is notable than they shall have to live there lives knowing what hypocrite statements they just said. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 14:14, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Either way does not matter. If they delete than once I come back I will just recreate them. That is why I copied and pasted the info onto wiki. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 14:23, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well, in fairness to Sputnik, of the articles you have copied below, the one nominated for deletion contains only one reference, while the other contains seven. If you spend a couple days fleshing out the references in the AFD article, then they could be pointed out in the AFD discussion. ~Amatulić (talk) 14:56, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- I am not disagreeing with that and I shall do that and post them on here. One of my friends on here has already added a few references but again going back to those articles, the Premier Academy League 2011-12 article references only contain the fixtures and results and the table while for the 2012 I-League U20 article if you click [show] on a fixture than there will be a source with a match report right there. Even in the 2011-12 A-League National Youth League only has two references on the same team reporting there squad. I can easily find that for 3 teams and get more. As for the 2011 I-League U19 article, I am not sure if I can save that article. The Indian Football Youth League was not as popular in 2011 so there was barely any media but I will try my best. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 16:50, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

The 2012 I-League U20 was the second season of the Indian I-League U20 competition. The season ran alongside the closing stages of the 2011–12 I-League season. The AIFF development team, Pailan Arrows, did not field their team in the competition as they were already a u21 team in the I-League.[1] The preliminary phase of the 2012 U20 league was held played in three different cities, Kalyani, Mumbai and within the state of Goa. The final round of the competition was held in Kalyani with Pune F.C. Academy coming out as winners.
