Proposed format
[edit]I have proposed a format for Bengali literature article on its talk page (Talk:Bengali_literature#Proposed_format). Could you please come and express your views and opinions or update this format? Cheers. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 14:15, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
Yunus not a GA anymore?
[edit]I see that you have hidden Muhammad Yunus from Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh/Featured and good content. But, as far as I can see it still remains a GA. Would you prefer to check again? Aditya(talk • contribs) 13:36, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry my mistake. Thanks for catching and fixing. Arman (Talk) 09:41, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. Oh, forgot to congratulate you on the great work done about Grameen Bank. When the Cox's Bazar and Sundarban collaboration is over, I guess, this would be a worthy candidate for the next drive. Target? An FA. Aditya(talk • contribs) 14:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Arman bhai, first of all sorry for being not so active at Wikipedia. I will help with the ongoing work from now on. Regards --Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 06:27, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Arman bhai, can we start now? Regards--Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 05:51, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
- Ha ha. I was out of touch for a while :( I ve seen the pages. Regards--Tarif from Bangladesh (talk) 18:26, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Request to place your review
[edit]I nominated List of universities in Bangladesh on 25 March 2008 as a Featured List candidate. So far, four editors reviewed the list and requested significant changes and modifications. I tried my level best to meet all the recommendations. It would be really nice if you also review the list and place your opinion (support/oppose). I am looking forward to receive your comments and recommendations on the nomination page. Cheers! -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 10:44, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]For recognizing the surreal painter in me. Couldn't have done it better myself. BTW, did you think of posting an announcement to the talk pages of the participants? Aditya(talk • contribs) 02:38, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Membership application for Wikimedia Hong Kong is now open
[edit]Yahoooooo
[edit]Finally we made it! List of universities in Bangladesh is now a Featured List. :-). -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 15:14, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Bhaia. I will try my level best to improve Bengali literature but I need your support and guidance. I am slightly off from Wikipedia, busy with getting British visa and also my admission in London. But, will be back very soon with doubled energy. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 12:23, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Is on FAR at this moment. Needs emergency fixing to keep its status as a featured article. --Ragib (talk) 01:46, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks
[edit]Thank you Bhaia for the appreciation. It's an honor for me and I will always try my best to maintain it. Regards, -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 15:49, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Re: What is the question
[edit]I assumed that the tags on that particular bit was asking for refs on geographic locations of the hostels. But, apparently it was for the very existence of the hostels. That has been dealt with. And, oh, while you at it, please, lend a hand in citing sources (and also, if possible, work on the strong POVs present in the article). The time-frame of two-weeks for FARs, I'm afraid may be too short for me. Aditya(talk • contribs) 11:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
And more ...
[edit]Before Blnguyen or anyone else nominates Bangladesh for FAR, I think we need to fix the references in an urgent basis. --Ragib (talk) 03:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
I have started acquiring sources. The information may need slight updating. Please, lend a hand. I promise to be good as and when you need my hand, but for some more time I may not be as active as is required. Aditya(talk • contribs) 06:57, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Here goes:
- Foreign policy and military
- For the number of military personnel, from Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies: [1] <couldn't open the page>.
- For overseas mission completed, from Bangladesh Army: [2] (more links are the page, there also is linked list on this UN Peacekeeping mission page) <added>
- For starters, that section was added later by someone ... it wasn't there during the FAC. --Ragib (talk) 06:28, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Geography and climate
- For repetitive natural disasters, Natural Disasters by David E. Alexander (page 532) <added> and Disaster Mitigation: Experiences and Reflections by Pardeep Sahni and Alka Dhameja (page 107)
- The NYT ([3]) may be helpful as well
- For 1998 flood damage, from International Food Policy Research Institute [4] and from ReliefWeb [5]
- For flood reasons, Encyclopedia of World Geography by Peter Haggett (page 2635) <added>, Inland Flood Hazards: Human, Riparian, and Aquatic Communities by Ellen E. Wohl (page 272) and Environmental Science: A Study of Interrelationships by Eldon D. Enger, Bradley Fraser (page 53) - further details should be a part of another article on Bangladesh floods
- Culture
- Answering your question to my talk page: Oh, I have come down with a fever, and I am afraid that my concentration level is not at its best. Information update (which requires careful copywriting, my big weakness already) and attending to the cite templates (which require pressing the preview button, a dread task for my slow internet connection at home) would be bit difficult for me. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I see one else I can turn to. If you are busy or something, I'll add them tomorrow. For now I was just responding to Ragib's urgency. Cheers. Aditya(talk • contribs) 07:16, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- O I see. I'll add as many as I can and put a tag <added> next to the items above. Thanks for your usual hard work and dedication. Cheers, Arman (Talk) 07:24, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for visiting Bagha Jatin. shubho nababarsha!--BobClive (talk) 07:44, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Dear vai Arman, thanks. I have just gone through the article Kazi Nazrul Islam. It needs a lot of citations. I will try to collect those. If possible I will add them or I will inform you. Continue your efforts. Good luck. --Anwarul Islam (talk) 08:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Please see the following link [8] it may help you to cite in Rajshahi University. If it helps you, please let me be acknowledged. --Anwarul Islam (talk) 09:07, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Dear Arman,
It is very hard to cite, some of the quotations are not absolutely true, or it is very hard to collect. If you permit I will rewrite some of the setences. If it is possible, then I amy help. Please inform me. --Anwarul Islam (talk) 09:46, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Dear Arman, please see the article, I have made a lot of changes, and help us to fix the citation as per the rule. One para was written by me without log in, you may see the IP which is my connection IP. If you have any suggestion please write me. --Anwarul Islam (talk) 10:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Panta bhat image
[edit]That's a mouth-watering image of Panta Bhat you added in the article. Although I do not usually eat shutki, my parents would simply drool over the image :)--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Rewrite of the assessment scheme
[edit]Hi Arman, thanks for alerting us at WP:1.0 to the Village Pump discussion on A/GA. I notice that you added a couple of comments onto the rewrite proposal. Are you signing up to help with the rewriting process, or did you just want to contribute your ideas for us to consider while we're rewriting? If you'd like to help rewrite things, can you sign up in the sections where you'd like to contribute? I don't think we will be making any major changes just now, but I think you might have some helpful insights for the rewrite. Let us know. Thanks, Walkerma (talk) 03:22, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Just sign under the small header saying "I want to help with the rewrite", "I want to help with the refining process" or "I'm willing to help write the FAQ page". Walkerma (talk) 03:32, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
If you don't mind lending a hand I'll put appropriate sources here for you to get them fixed into the article. That way we can share the work. If you are busy or something, I can, of course, come back later incorporate them myself. One thing though - which part in the Culture section you want me to find a source for? I can see the tags on Transport, Education and Sports sections, and currently are working on those. Aditya(talk • contribs) 04:10, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- CNG-driven taxis: Compressed Natural Gas on Banglapedia,<added> Bangladesh Trip at Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, US Department of Energy, and How to travel in Dhaka at BBC
- I guess the green-taxi thing needs to be sourced as well, and the all three links together make for a comprehensive source for the whole sentence.
- Major rail stations: Marika McAdam, Bangladesh, page 66, Lonely Planet, 2004, ISBN 1740592808 <added> (looking for more)
- For now, this should be enough till we find something better (and as unambiguous).
Sorry, I was out. Back now.
- Sadarghat: Sadarghat on Banglapedia and Dhaka, Asian Highway Handbook, page 28; United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Publications, 2005, ISBN 9211201705 <added>
- I guess the South Asia bit needs to go out. Not supported by sources.
- Private carriers: Private airlines take off, aim higher from the Daily Star <added>
- ZIA: ibid (till we get an even better ref)
- Growth of academic institutions: Kamal Siddiqui, Social Formation in Dhaka City: A Study in Third World Urban Sociology, page 42, University Press Limited, Dhaka 1990
- Largest medical colleges: Muhammad Shamsul Huq, Higher Education and Employment in Bangladesh, page 181, UNESCO, 1983
- Largest university: BBC News, VOA News
- Most popular sports: Bangladesh, The New Encyclopaedia Britannica (ed. Robert MacHenry), page 717, Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc., 1993, ISBN 0852295715 <added>
- International cricket: ibid
- The sentence is not really NPOV, and has a bit of weaseling. Making it difficult to source.
- Bangladesh win over India: the Guardian UK and The Hindu
- Bangladesh win over Pakistan: The Telegraph UK and The Dawn
- Fatulla stadium: Should be no part of the Dhaka article. It's in Narayanganj! Couldn't source it's presence in Dhaka in any possible way.
What happened? Some of the refs are unusable? What? Let me know the problem, these refs can definitely be improved upon. The article still looks dreadful with those citation-needed tags. Oh! Forgot to thank you. This little collaboration seems to have worked alright in most part, and I remember you starting it. Aditya(talk • contribs) 15:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh! My bad. BTW, did you notice that Sameer is back? Aditya(talk • contribs) 04:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Armanaziz - as you are a key contributor to this article, I would like to like to inform you of the changes I've made. Please don't take offense at the removal of data. My reasoning is this - speaking in context of the overall article, why risk removal of FA status. Its a subject on which there doesn't seem to be as many sources available. As a solution, I don't see why we can't just remove the non-essential sentences/facts without due citations - none of them seem critical or vital to the article. It won't diminish, as it doesn't seem people here can find any better literature. And is it worth risking the status of the overall article over those non-essential sentences? I don't think so. To be sure, I've left those alone which I felt were of some importance. Regards, Vishnava talk 12:43, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I have completed the fixing of the FA status article Kazi Nazrul Islam. There was not any alternative without rewriting some sentences. Please, watch my works and comment. --Anwarul Islam (talk) 14:08, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- It seems a lot more work is necessary. I think the concern about biased statements is legitimate, but I can't understand why Banglapedia is being declared as biased. You gave a good answer to those comments. Vishnava talk 21:47, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm attempting something a bit sweeping to make sure most objections are addressed. It will possibly mean removing many sentences. Please keep an eye on me that I do it properly without ending up damaging the article. Vishnava talk 22:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh boy, those arguments don't make any sense, but we must try to address them as far as possible - replacing Nazrul Institute sources with any books we can find on Google Books or Amazon. By end of tomorrow, I'll post a complete progress report and copious response to objections. Vishnava talk 07:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
I see that you have listed the above article for FAR. While you have every right to do so, it would have been good if you had used the talk page to get the things addressed. FA is a long drawn out process and people would have spent enormous amount of effort to get it listed as an FA. If you are not happy about the state of the FA article, atleast you could give time to the authors to address those concerns in the talk page of the article. By going ahead and listing it in FAR, I feel you have pushed the trigger early. This is just a suggestion though, ignore it if you think otherwise. -- ¿Amar៛Talk to me/My edits 11:52, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
I have replied to your comments on my talk page. Note that I have no interest in continuing with this matter, but thought your message on my talk page deserved a response. Regards, Mattinbgn\talk 11:18, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
