A tag has been placed on Draft:Engineering Historical Memory, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:58, 29 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the feedback. Kindly find the following replies to the respective pointers above, please.1. There is no compensation received on this contribution. Although Engineering Historical Memory (EHM) (as an ongoing research project with the objective to develop and improve the EHM web application for historical resources) has been supported by a range of public and private agencies through grants and funding over the years, there is no compensation or incentive received for the creation of a Wikipedia article for EHM. The objective to create the EHM Wikipedia page is for knowledge sharing purposes.2. I understand the reasons why the account was blocked and why the draft EHM page was removed, which was due to the suspected advertising and promotional content. The account username implying the representation of the EHM database is also not permitted.I understand that Wikipedia only encourages encyclopedic content written from a neutral point of view (NPOV). Any promotional content and inappropriate external links should not be included in the Wikipedia article. I also note that the topic must be notable which should be supported by reliable and independent sources.I will not repeat the kind of edits for which I was blocked initially and I endeavour to contribute useful content that is written from NPOV without bias. Promotional language will not be used, and excess and inapt external links will also be removed.3. I do still think that EHM is a notable subject that can be added to Wikipedia. There are reliable sources discussing EHM such as peer-reviewed journals and books published by respected publishers. Having said this, when my account is unblocked, I plan to post a question in Wikipedia Teahouse to seek further views and suggestions before proceeding with any new draft. In addition, I understand that for account with a conflict of interest (COI), I should disclose and go through the Articles for Creation (AfC) process for review and feedback.Apart from the above, I also hope to contribute to other tasks on Wikipedia such as categorisation and copy-editing.Thank you. Reasonable request, appears to understand relevant policy. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC) [reply]

I've fixed some formatting issues with your request. 331dot (talk) 21:55, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would you object to your proposed username being made singular so it sounds less like a group?("ArgonautOfHistory") Do you receive any compensation from the project, even without specific instructions to edit? Please note that Wikipedia is not for merely sharing knowledge, it is for summarizing what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability. 331dot (talk) 22:00, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the formatting edit!
Yes, it is okay to change the username to singular, i.e., ArgonautOfHistory. Appreciate the suggestion.
Yes, the research project that I am working on as a team member is funded and supported by different public and private institutions over the years, but no compensation is received for editing/contributions to Wikipedia.
Yes, I note that independent reliable sources are required to confirm the notability of the subject. My thought is that there is considerable coverage on the EHM application which has also won international awards and recognitions. However, I am keen to get more views and advice from the community and plan to post a question in Teahouse seeking more perspectives on this new topic.
Thank you. EngineeringHistoricalMemory (talk) 01:09, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've renamed your account. If you work for the project, that meets the definition of a paid editor, you do not have to be specifically paid to edit or specifically instructed to edit; any paid relationship triggers the disclosure requirement. You will need to make the formal paid editing disclosure. Am I correct in reading your request that you don't intend to dive right in to attempting to recreate a draft and will get some advice first, as well as make some unrelated edits? 331dot (talk) 07:31, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the above. Yes, I plan to get more views in Teahouse about the subject before drafting a new page, while making some unrelated edits for other Wikipedia pages after the account is unblocked. ArgonautOfHistory (talk) 08:13, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping, 331dot, I've gone ahead and unblocked the account. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:52, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the unblock. ArgonautOfHistory (talk) 14:40, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm MrOllie. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 14:20, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @MrOllie, thank you for your message. The edits for the pages were thought to be relevant additions to the contents. However, I understand where you are coming from and will be more careful when drafting the edits moving forward. ArgonautOfHistory (talk) 02:17, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As a paid editor you should not be making edits like this at all. Instead, use talk pages and the {{requestedit}} template. - MrOllie (talk) 02:38, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @MrOllie for sharing the above and noted. ArgonautOfHistory (talk) 07:54, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
