Hi Arbitrarily0, the above user claims that this account (your account) and his are operated by the same user. He communicated this to me over Facebook chat. He identifies himself as the youngest system administrator on the English Wikipedia over here.

Can you please confirm? Thanks. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 22:23, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi Sir Nick. I am indeed not the same person as User:Karan.102, so thank you for coming here to verify. I am unclear what his/her motives are, but this is somewhat disconcerting. See here. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Arb0. He probably made that edit to prove to me that this was his account. He is using your credentials to get attention for that event in Bhopal. I will relay this information to Steven Walling. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 09:19, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you Nick, I greatly appreciate it. Best regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:46, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Adoption?

Hi Arbitrarily0,

Are you taking adoptees in the adopt-a-user program? It would be great if you could give me some guidance.

Cheers!! AnnaJune (talk) 22:17, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Dear AnnaJune, thanks for stopping by! Sorry for the delayed reply. I'll be happy to adopt you! Feel free to stop by here any time that there's something I can help you with! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:14, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

The adoption page says you are unavailable, but the background color is green. Don't know which it should be. AMWJ (talk) 17:34, 4 February 2011 (UTC)AMWJ

Thanks AMWJ, took care of it. Have a nice weekend! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:53, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

WikiMagazine Project

Hi Arbitrarily0, I noticed you are a member of the WikiProject Magazine, which I have joined and will contribute in the future. I have created a new page for an online magazine Bloginity which was up for speedy deletion several times for several reasons. I was hoping to get your voice on this matter and help me get the page published as it contains quality and informative information for anyone who is interested in reading about the background, and foundation. I am looking forward to your reply, and hoping that you would share your voice in this article entry. (71.190.254.239 (talk) 21:13, 20 January 2011 (UTC)).

Hi there! The first step is to see what happens at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bloginity. Feel free to participate yourself. I'll keep an eye on it, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:24, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Arbitrarily0 (Knox387 (talk) 14:50, 21 January 2011 (UTC)).

Multiple Languages on Wikipedia

Hello,

I have looked this up a little bit, but I figure you would know better than anyone any other way to make this work. If I want to do some editing in another language -- say, Arabic -- I would like to be able to log in on that page as well. It looks like switching language logs you out, so i assume it's a totally separate community. Is there any way to move my Profile to be on both languages? Or is there some way to "link" the two profiles? Or should I maybe just put a link to each page on the other's pages?

Let me know your thoughts; and take your time. Thanks! Pixor (talk) 21:51, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Deleted Article

We had a page that was started by a user. We were in the process of editing it. But it was set to delete. There was a bit of debate about it. I would like to know if we can have another whack at it? Orignally it was about the BasicATOM as this is referenced from a few different wikipedia articles. However the debate had some valid points. So what I propose is we restructure the article to be not just about the BasicATOM but about the company Basicmicro which currently returns signifigant search results. A quick search on youtube returns several results. I can list a few more reason for this line of thinking. But I just wanted to know if we can have a chance to contribute ? This is the page I'm referring to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BasicATOM —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.45.50.237 (talk) 21:32, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Greetings! You are welcome to create a new article. Just make sure that the subject has a number of reliable sources (which, unfortunately, excludes Youtube). Let me know what you come up with. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:07, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Wonderfull. I tried to edit the page but it shows locked? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.45.50.237 (talk) 03:49, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Hello Matt!

Hi Matt!

My name is Iman Richards and I am part of Marlene Fine's Public Relations Seminar class. We are participating in the U.S. Public Policy project. I was wondering if you'd like to be my mentor?

Look forward to hearing from you,

Thiaoouba prophecy

Hi, Just curious why thiaoouba prophecy was deleted? Was it a personal reason or was it an outside influence? I'm only starting to understand abit about it (even though half of it's rubbish) and it seems abit of a touchy subject. Cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.20.35.28 (talk) 04:32, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Thiaoouba Prophecy was deleted because of a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thiaoouba Prophecy (2nd nomination). It seems like a fair consenus was made there, but if you thing there might be something wrong, feel free to contact Ron Ritzman (talk · contribs) (the administrator who handled the deletion). Hi Matt

I understand that you are interested in public policy related articles. We are writing a new topic on Solid Waste from scratch and giving more importance to policies and regulations. Can you be our mentor during the work? Thanks Brijesh Krishnan 23:53, 3 February 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brijeshkrishnan (talkcontribs)

I'd be happy to help you along the way! Could you give me a link to where the new article is located? Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:57, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your reply, Matt. Sorry for the delay to replying you. I understand now that we have to keep visiting the discussions page to see the replies!! The new article that we are planning to start is Solid Waste. Presently it is getting diverted to Municipal Solid Waste. But, Municipal Solid Waste is a part of Solid Waste. Our aim is to start a informative page about the topic and build from there giving the background, different types of solid waste, resource conservation, policy, and regulations from different countries focusing specially on U.S policy. talk Brijesh Krishnan 23:16, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Request to mentor a student

Hi Arbitrarily0, I'm a Campus Ambassador in the Public Policy Initiative and found your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject United States Public Policy/Online Ambassadors and was wondering whether you'd be up for mentoring User:Lena815, one of the students for Prof Gen's Environmental Policy class. I'll watch this page. Thanks! Dcoetzee 22:20, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Certainly! Let me know what I can do! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:29, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Great! Please just go ahead and leavea a message on their talk page and add the {{WAP student}} template, something like this: {{WAP student|project=WikiProject United States Public Policy|course=Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_States_Public_Policy/Courses/Environmental_Policy_spring_2011_(Gen)|coursetalk=Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_United_States_Public_Policy/Courses/Environmental_Policy_spring_2011_(Gen)|mentor=Arbitrarily0}}. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your help! Dcoetzee 00:40, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Oi! I see you just added it. Thanks Dcoetzee - I look forward to working with him/her. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 20:43, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Mentoring students: be sure to check in on them

This message is going out to all of the Online Ambassadors who are, or will be, serving as mentors this term.

Hi there! This is just a friendly reminder to check in on what your mentees are doing. If they've started making edits, take a look and help them out or do some example fixes for them, if they need it. And if they are doing good, let them know it!

If you aren't mentoring anyone yet, it looks like you will be soon; at least one large class is asking us to assign mentors for them, and students in a number of others haven't yet gotten to asking ambassadors to be their mentors, but may soon. --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:05, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

The article Scott Pickens has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Has not appeared in a major league, failing WP:BASEBALL/N; also fails WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiantSnowman 01:37, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

Advice

Hey there Arbit! I hope your winter has gone well. I would like your advice on how to deal with 69.254.32.72 (talk · contribs). After undoing their edits at Three Little Pigs twice, I left a note on their talk page about the need for content to reflect sources. The IP has since made the same edit two more times. I thought about warning that I would block them if they continued inserting unsupported content with no discussion, but I don't know if I am stepping into an edit war, and becoming involved. Thoughts? Jujutacular talk 21:38, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Jujutacular! Good to hear from you. It's been a busy winter off-wiki, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. It looks like you've been handling this situation nicely so far. If it comes to the point where a block is in order, you can safely remain uninvolved by requesting the block at AIV, rather than imposing it yourself. This gives another administrator a chance to review the case unbiasedly. Keep up the good work. Warmly, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:19, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice! I think I sometimes forget that I can still operate on either side of the fence ;) Regards, Jujutacular talk 06:23, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Characteristic equation

Hello! Your submission of Characteristic equation at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 14:06, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Yoninah, I have responded. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:31, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi, one other thing with this on the page itself you have a link to algebraic which is a dab page. I try to disambiguate all of these before they make it to the main page but in this case my math knowledge is insufficient to know what the correct link is, can you please take a look at it? Thanks, J04n(talk page) 19:23, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
It looks like Jujutacular has just fixed it - looking over algebraic myself, it looks like algebraic function is probably the best choice. Thanks both of you, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:44, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Marking articles students are working on

Howdy, Online Ambassador!

This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students (in particular, any ones you are mentoring, but others who don't have mentors as well) and do these things:

  1. Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
  2. If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
  3. Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.

And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.

Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:10, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Rollback rights

Hi Arbitrarily0, I have been on Wiki since 2007 though I started actively participating in edits etc this year. I have done some work on new articles which you can check on my page. I would be grateful if you could grant me rollback rights as it would offer me to opportunity to better serve Wikipedia. Thanks. CrosstemplejayCrosstemplejay 11:22, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Greetings Crosstemplejay! I noticed on your talk page that you've recently been involved in some speedy deletion difficulties. Although not necessarily related, I like to see that a user unvaryingly takes there time with decision-making before granting rollback. However, please feel free to submit a request at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Rollback regardless. Cheers mate, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:11, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Heya!

Heya Arbitrarily, long time no see. I was wondering if you could help me with an article I wrote, Digital Education Revolution, I'm trying to find newspaper reports etc. on the program outside the state of New South Wales, so far I've only found 1. Google News and Google Search are being nuisances and I'm hopelessly lost. If you can help, even a little bit that'd be appreciated, if not then that's understandable. Cheers, —James (TalkContribs)5:12pm 07:12, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Hi James. I did some snooping around and wasn't able to turn up anything more than what you currently have. I will say though, that the article is looking quite nice! Keep up the good work, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:01, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

why did u delete

why did you delete the glen jackson wrestler and hurdler page?? i am glen jackson and it was ALL TRUE —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.17.244.167 (talk) 22:19, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Greetings mate! Glen Jackson (Collegiate wrestler and hurdler) was deleted because a consensus to do so was made at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Glen Jackson (Collegiate wrestler and hurdler) for notability reasons. Let me know what I can clear up for you, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:46, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Why did you delete Miami Beach Community Kollel page?

The religious Jewish community has less internet sources because of anti-internet sentiment, but this doesn't make all their institutions non notable. If you'd walk around Miami Beach and asked any Orthodox Jew where the Miami Beach Community Kollel was, they would be able to point it out.

The Miami Beach Kollel is an established rabbinical and outreach institution, making it not fit into any one category (higher learning, etc.) but a conglomerate of several categories. It serves a large population (religious Jews of South Florida) with a number of tasks- education, arbitration, rabbinical supervision, etc. While there is no formal degree program, rabbis who complete a stint of several years there are viewed as capable of taking on religious leadership positions, and many do. Similar to Miami Dade College, it educates both on a long-term basis and on a one-class basis.

Like I said, this community is not internet-oriented, so it won't matter much to them if you undelete it, but I think you should consider it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.21.16.220 (talk) 16:58, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Hmm... no answer... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.254.16.83 (talk) 07:36, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Greetings! Sorry for the delayed reply. Miami Beach Community Kollel was deleted because a rough consensus to do so was established at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miami Beach Community Kollel. Let me know what I can clear up or aid you with, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:43, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
Right, but this place is a part of Ultra-Orthodoxy and thus less internet-based than most institutions in the US (so fewer people appreciate what is notable in this community). Most of the time there is a story about Ultra-Orthodox culture online, it is either tragedy-based or crime-based. It is a pity that there can't be a larger scope to the information found on the internet... So I would have to disagree with those who decided to delete. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.254.16.83 (talk) 00:42, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I understand. The reason Wikipedia has notability rules, however, is partly so that the article will have verifiable content. Do you know of multiple reliable secondary sources that would make up a basis for the article? Note, these do not have to be online sources. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:54, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

error in vehicle safety inspection article for USA

I don't know how to submit stuff like this, have never tried to correct anything in Wikipedia, and a glance at the instructions made my eyes glaze over. I barely know what a tilde is.

The point I wanted to make is there is an obvious error in the Wikipedia article about vehicle inspections. It says there are 18 states with inspections, and 30 without. Last time I checked, the USA had 50 states so one of those numbers must be wrong. It would be great if someone more knowledgeable than me could correct this, thanks.

I don't understand how it helps by signing four tildes if everyone does that? Would it be useful if every guy in the world was named "John"? But, to keep folks happy, I'll sign off now ;-) 74.37.176.74 (talk) 13:34, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) 17 states require annual or biannual inspections, 2 states require inspections before transfer of ownership, 1 state requires inspections of vehicles coming from other states, 30 states don't require inspections, =50 (according to Vehicle inspection in the United States). Jujutacular talk 14:20, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
About the tildes: these generate a unique signature and time stamp for every user when the page is saved, making them quite useful :) Jujutacular talk 14:23, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response Juju! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:48, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

The Specials TV Show

Hi there

I have a question about a Wikipedia page I created for our web series about young adults with special needs 'The Specials' http://www.the-specials.com The wikpedia page was called 'The Specials (internet TV Show) and you moved it to 'The Specials (internet TV Series) on 1st August 2010. This new page was then deleted by Gogo Dodo on 29th September 2010 - I think it may have been deleted because the redirect went to a non-existent page. [[1]]

Can you advise me on how I can get this page reinstated? There is a lot of news I would like to add - 'The Specials' won the Webby Award (the Oscars of the web) for Best Reality, was a finalist in the Vimeo Awards Best Original Series category and we are planning to bring out a new series later this year.

I would be grateful for any advice you can give me.

All the best

Interest in Wikipedians of the University of Michigan

Arbitrarily0,

I'm sorry I've taken so long to respond to your invitation on this, but I am an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan and have an interest in learning more about the Wikipedians of the University of Michigan and potentially joining the group. The reason I've been hesitant is that I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of linking my Wikimedia account with my personal identity: I have tried, mainly for security reasons, to stay as anonymous as possible on Wikipedia and its sister sites. Regardless, I'm interested in learning more about the group. Take care and Go Blue!

TFCforever (talk) 21:48, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Apologize not! Great to hear from you! I understand your security concerns - I also faced this issue when joining the group. Email me and let's talk! (Or we can continue here if you prefer.) In the mean time, feel free to check out our current page at WP:UMICH. Regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 04:00, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

China move closure

If you're going to close the move discussion as no-consensus then how is an RFC going to produce a better answer? If that's the case surely the only sensible way forward would be to take the case to arbitration or to mediation of some sort? Given that would surely produce a result along the lines suggested in the move request isn't it a total waste of time to have to do that?

Leaving it where it is isn't really a good long term option following Wikipedia's policies. The current position leaves China as the only country in the world (and the only WP:VITAL article) with another article at its common name, which is in breech of WP:NPOV. Additionally given the hit rates are so similar for the China article and the People's Republic of China article as well as the People's Republic of China pretty much exclusively being referred to as China in the media, then the China article also fails to meet WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 21:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Greetings friend. Indeed; not a long term option. I am confident (especially by the looks so far of Talk:China#How to continue...) that a solution will be reached, but I did not believe it was in my discretion to procure such a solution given the discussion as it was. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:52, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Okay, thanks! We'll keep you on the interest list, then! Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 22:17, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Billy Hunter

Hi, I see you recently closed the move request at Talk:Billy Hunter. Can you please explain how you evaluated the discussion and made your determination?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 04:07, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

YesY Hello there SaskatchewanSenator! Great username. I have added my rationale. Forgive me for not writing one immediately. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 12:14, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Your username made me think about a few of the arbitrary zeros.
Thanks for adding the rationale, but could you explain how you evaluated the arguments that this Billy Hunter was or was not the primary topic?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 07:32, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Heehee0. Simply put, there was a rough consensus that this was the case. After examining the arguments, I did not see overwhelming evidence that the consensus should be overturned. Does this make some sense? I know you feel strongly about this, so if it is any restitution, let me say that consensus can change. Regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 21:03, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Maybe I'm not making myself clear. What was it in the arguments in support of the move that you found convincing and in the arguments opposed that you found lacking?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 10:35, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
In this case, I was convinced merely by consensus. I did not find any of the arguments lacking. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 12:05, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
I don't understand. Maybe I'm confused by the consensus you're mentioning. You wrote above about not overturning consensus and then your wrote about being convinced by consensus. Are you referring to a prior consensus that I'm not aware of?--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 06:27, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Hehee, nay, let me explain. The discussion received three !votes in support and one in opposition. Thus, rough consensus was to support the move. However, it is in the closer's jurisdiction to ignore the consensus if some !votes are weak or break policies. In this case, I did not see that such was the case, and I decided to close the discussion with the consensus' will. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

Palazzo Foscari

Hi. I am not a frequent user and I am confused about the result of this request kindly posted on my behalf (not so according to my original intentions): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Palazzo_Foscari#Requested_move_to_Ca.27_Foscari_Palace My original question was about having the permission to build up a Disambiguation page for Palazzo Foscari. I noted there was a Ca' Foscari (Palace) page to which the Palazzo Foscari search was redirecting. It ended up to be a silly discussion among people with much spare time. In the end, the Palazzo Foscari page still redirects automatically to Ca' Foscari page - little changed, referring to my request. and so I am still unable to build up the disambiguation page, which is needed to list other 2 palazzo foscari in venice, in different neighbourhoods (sestieri). can you please help? where, whom do i have to ask? we spent hours on this matter already, it is unbelievable to me. many thanks in advance --Globe.explorer (talk) 21:31, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi there! I think I can help. Start by tring to make a disambiguation page at Palazzo Foscari (disambiguation). Do you need help with this step? If you list the other palaces I'd be happy to make it for you. Regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 12:09, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
HI! :) Thanks a lot. I tried: Palazzo Foscari (disambiguation) Does it work? The problem is that Palazzo Foscari redirects to Ca' Foscari. Many thanks for your help :) --Globe.explorer (talk) 21:43, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Good work. Where do you believe Palazzo Foscari should redirect? You are free to change it, of course! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:35, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

The Specials TV Show - follow up

Hi there

You were very kind in advising me a few months ago (see The Specials TV Show section a few sections above). Sorry to come back to you but I would be grateful for your help. You referred me to Starblind. He was great and agreed that the article wouldn't be an A7 now and said he would move the article to the Incubator if I agreed not to work on it (as I made the web series - fair enough!). I thanked him for this but he hasn't responded to my follow-up questions (sent in June and again in July) about where the article is now - I also want to clarify which article is in the Incubator The Specials (internet TV series) or The Specials (internet TV show) From what I can tell neither article is now in the incubator, though I may just be confused about this. I do not want to work on the page myself but a blogger based in the US who writes on disability issues is very keen to work on the page and I would like to direct her to the correct page so she can get going. Do you think you could help me out as Starblind seems to be on holiday right now? I'm very grateful for any help you can give me. Kind regards, Katy (Katykada (talk) 18:52, 1 August 2011 (UTC))

Katy, good buddy. Is User:Katykada/The Specials (internet TV show) your lost article? Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:40, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me! This looks like an early version of the article, it's missing some of the text, references and the web banner photo we uploaded. But it's the closest I've seen to the article for a while! If this is the most that can be retrieved, would you be happy to put it in the incubator and let me know where to find it? Grateful as ever, Katy (Katykada (talk) 11:53, 2 August 2011 (UTC))
Alright, so I found a similar looking version at The Specials (internet TV series) and have merged it with the history of User:Katykada/The Specials (internet TV show) (scroll through the page's history to see past revisions). The page is now incubated at Wikipedia:Article Incubator/The Specials (internet TV series). Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:26, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very, very much. I really appreciate you going to so much trouble. I will pass these details on to my US blogger pal. Cheers! Katy (Katykada (talk) 15:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC))
Don't mention it. Until next time, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:13, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi again, sorry to come back to you again, but Beth's rewritten the page and has converted it into an articlespace candidate. Do we just wait now for someone to assess it for suitability? How will people happen upon it? Many thanks as ever! (Katykada (talk) 15:37, 1 September 2011 (UTC))
Hello there! I see that page has been nominated for articlespace assessment, which is indeed the next step. Once the article is moved to the articlespace, we can work on adding links to it from other articles, so that readers can happen upon the page. Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:50, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Equidistant

Hi, you recently closed RFD equidistant as soft redirect to wikt:equidistant. Following a discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics#deletion of equidistant it seems that there is enough material for a non trivial stub article and I've composed a draft at Talk:Equidistant#Draft. If its OK with you I'd like to recreate the article.--Salix (talk): 09:51, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Well that would be great! Go right ahead, I'll keep an eye on it. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 11:21, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Relisting

Hi Arbitrarily. I see that you've recently been relisting quite a few requested moves and thought you might be interested in this discussion that we had at WT:RM last month. Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 04:23, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Hiya Jenks. While I was not aware of this particular discussion (thank you), this guideline has long been an infer-able part of the closing instructions. That said, you may be asking why on earth would I relist Talk:Kemp's ridley. I still cannot figure that one out. Maybe I was too tired. :) Talk:Eretna I was not so sure about, but I've decided to !vote rather than close. Talk:Darius Burst, on the other hand, was relisted because it has been a contentious subject in the past. Let me know if you see any others I should re-inspect, and thanks for your note. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:37, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
No worries. Yeah, it was Kemp's ridley that prompted me to leave the note, but other than that, all the relists I've seen from you were understandable. To be honest, even the Kemp's ridley one is not a big deal (what hurt can one extra week really do?) and I just wanted to let you know of that discussion in case that was an actual change from when you used to close RMs. Best, Jenks24 (talk) 14:06, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Alright sweet. I really appreciate you checking up - you were very right about Kemp's ridley. :) Hope to see you around Jenks!! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:45, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

I looked at this request earlier but didn't have a chance to act on it. However, I did look over Suckermonster's contribs and since creating his account 2 years ago, he only has 2 edits to any talk space and that was removing 2 posts from his talk page. Furthermore, he doesn't use edit summaries so we have no indication as to why he objects to that image. IMHO the image should be restored and the burden should be on Suckermonster to explain to us why he objects to that image. I can't think of a good policy/guideline to quote for this view at the moment but WP:NINJA seems to fit the bill. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 04:20, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Agreed, and taken care of. I'll keep an eye on the article. Thanks a lot Ron, appreciate you following up. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 13:27, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

Online Ambassador role for fall 2011

Hey Arbitrarily0! I saw that you're going to be too busy to get involved as a Campus Ambassador for the immediate future. Are you wanting to be active as an Online Ambassador for the coming term? The role is a little different this time, with Online Ambassadors joining "pods" to support a class as a whole (rather than one-on-one mentoring). So less trying to keep track of individual students (who may or may not be responsive and active) and more just responding to help requests as students need help. If you're up for it, you can browse the upcoming courses here: United States; Canada. More are being added as new pods become active and create their course pages.

Once you've found a class that you want to work with—especially if you some interest or expertise in the topic area—you should sign the MOU listing for that class and get in touch with the instructor. We're hoping to have at least two Online Ambassadors per pod, and more for the larger classes.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 15:59, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Greetings Sage. I have just signed up as an online ambassador for Wikipedia:Ambassadors/Courses/Intro to Law and Technology (Brad Rosen). Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:28, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Improper page move

Hi, I happened upon [[2]] this, which you apparently moved against unanimous opposes to the original move proposal, and nothing but the original proposer's subsequent suggestion, also uppercased (wrongly, in my view too).

Could you please explain what basis you closed the discussion and moved the page? Tony (talk) 04:16, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello Tony! I would be happy to explain. In the move request, three out of four !voters (including the nominator) expressed that the title of Ring Road (Cairo) was a good alternative. Thus rather than spend time on a second move request, I closed the discussion as such, as consensus dictated. Of course, there is no prejudice against future move requests. Cheers mate, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:29, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Requested move closure

Hi, you recently closed the move request of PC Boot Process as "not moved", however it was moved (by the requester) from the creator's userpages (at User:Surjoanik5/PC Boot Process) to the mainspace. I don't know if it's necessary to update the close result, but I thought I'd mention it. Cheers, — Bility (talk) 16:22, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello Bility! Yes, strange closure. I decided to close it like such so it would be clear that the page was moved in an out-of-process fashion. I have not done enough research, however, to tell if the subject should be brought to AfD. Thanks for taking the time to make sure I knew. Appreciate it, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 18:58, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Class

Hi Arbitrarily0, I recently created a Wikipedia account for my college class, and I just wanted to introduce myself! I'm excited to give this a go, but I really know nothing about editing or participating in the Wikipedia community; I hope I can come to you for advice. Also, any tips or suggestions to help get me started? Thanks! M.a.d.m.2012 (talk) 21:09, 24 September 2011 (UTC)M.a.d.m.2012

Greetings from Bradevanrosen's class!

Hiya! I'm a student in Brad Rosen's Law and Technology course at Yale, just dropping in to say hello! I'm new to this editing stuff so this is me trying to get a hang of things and introducing myself to an online ambassador. Hope to hear from you soon! --Jeromeluo (talk) 20:46, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Jeromeluo

Following the trend, I'm a student in Brad Rosen's law & technology class as well. I've written/edited a couple of articles, but still feel more or less lost on the creation-side of Wikipedia, so I'm glad this class will give me a reason to get more familiar with it. Will definitely drop by here with questions, as it seems like you know a lot! -Psykonautiks (talk) VM 22:31, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Feedback?

I just put up some articles on my user page that I'd potentially be interested in writing, but as someone without much experience, it's still hard for me to judge "notability" etc. of these topics, and to select the best choices out of the lot. If you could take a quick look at my user page and let me know what you think it'd be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Psykonautiks (talk) VM 01:43, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Glad to see you see exuberant about getting started. Although I have not heard of these topics themselves, a quick internet search suggests to me that they may very well be notable. As long as each topic has significant coverage from several reliable sources, you are good to go if you add them to the article. I will keep an eye on your progress. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:22, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Reliabe Sources?

I have a general question that are .org sites always considered reliable sources? Also there is an Article which I wish to do a Spoken Recording of (Oxford Comma), but the text has part of the lyrics from the song and a qoute which contains the word "----" both of which I'm unsure if i can record. Betsi-HaP (talk) 00:40, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi there Betsi! I would be skeptical of many .org sites, although if they fit the criteria of Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources, then they would be fine. As for recording, simply make sure that you address the quotation as such (e.g., "quote ... end quote"). Other than that, everything else goes! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:50, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

El_nacional_stadium.jpg

Hello, in the past you undeleted File:El_nacional_stadium.jpg after it was removed about 3 times from Estadio Nacional (Lima). It was once again removed by an IP from the article. I don't understand why IPs keep doing this. I did not get a notice in my talk page that it was orphaned so I had no idea this happened until now. Do I have to go through the undeletion process again? --MicroX (talk) 03:19, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello MicroX! I have restored it. Let's try to keep an eye on it. :) Cheers, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 23:39, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Renamed article

Hi. If I understand correctly, you renamed French Community of Belgium to Wallonia-Brussels Federation. The only trace I found to support this is this very short section of the talk page. Is that it? Did you rename solely based on the message from Ultimate Destiny?

If that is the case, you should know that this rename is highly controversial. Have a look at the tak page of the article. So the question I have is the following: what should I do to reverse the renaming? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asavaa (talkcontribs) 10:56, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

I confirm what Asavaa is saying. In Belgium, the unofficial and one-sided renaming of the French Community to the "Wallonia-Brussels Federation" is highly controversial and not accepted by other parts of the country. A real name change indeed requires an amendment of the constitution. On top, the new name implies that it is a federation, which is not, and that it has powers over all Brussels and Wallonian matters which it clearly does not - The Brussels Region and the Flemish community hold sway over many of these powers. Therefore, could you undo your page move and let various Wikipedians have a debate on the article name first. Thank you very much! Morgengave (talk) 13:51, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

I have now been informed by somebody on the talk page about what happened and the procedure that should be followed, so I launched I new rename request and I guess you do not need to do anything else in this respect. Asavaa (talk) 11:28, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Glad to hear it is under another discussion. Cheers mate, and best regards, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 01:50, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey! (Getting a late start)

Hi Arbitrarily0! I am finally catching up on the wikipedia assignments for Brad's Intro to Law and Tech class. He has 1) voiced a wish to continue work on improving the article in a draft workspace out of mainspce, 2) understands the need for suitable sourcing, and 3) will check back with more experienced editors if or when seeking a return of the article. Great Seljuq Empire

I have posted a warning on the talk page of the Great Seljuq Empire and on DragonTiger's talk page, concerning this statement[3], "Later in the 19the century Orientalist European historians and later nationalist Iranian historians invented and misused all these terms of Persianate and influence of Persian languages to claim everything as being part of Persian ethnicity.
They wrote that because of nationalistic and racist ideas, The Europeans knew about Ancient Persia and saw Persian as Aryans as sort of white-europeans in the middle east, who were higher and more civilized then the non-white, non-european others, especially Turkic peoples. On purpose they wrote a racist history which basically is:
That only the Persians (Iran has been multi-ethnic throughout history) were always the scientists and builders, the other ethnicities are ignored and the Turkic peoples were always the raiders and destroyers of civilization.
Later modern Iranian nationalist historians have enthusiastically accepted these racist
Orientalist ideas as it satisfies their ego and boasts their nationalism and Pan-Iranism. They denied all peoples who they deemed as uncivilized not worthy of history. By using a lot of false arguments they promoted the racist idea. That all most the entire history of the region is a Persian history and ignored all the other numerous nationalities, their descendants continue their work enthusiastically.."
Which he has summed up history and labeled those individuals and "their descendants as racists.
Such statements are not conducive to the creation of a community encyclopedia. --Kansas Bear (talk) 02:34, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Future of the US Education Program and the Ambassador Project

There is a discussion about the future and the growth of the US education program along with the future of the Wikipedia Ambassador Project here. Voceditenore (talk) 07:44, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Project banner tagging

Hi Arbitrarily0, we have just renamed WikiProject Friesland to WikiProject Frisia. Could you please have your bot check the article talk pages and replace {{WikiProject Friesland}} with {{WikiProject Frisia}}? I have redirected the project tag and updated all category entries but I think we still need to have the templates replaced to reflect the change of name in the assessment categories. If that is technically possible you may confine the bot to searching only the pages in Category:Friesland articles by quality to save time and CPU workload. Regards, De728631 (talk) 21:23, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello there! Yes, I think I can do this. I will try to have it done in a week's time. Cheers! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:16, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
That's great, thank you! De728631 (talk) 18:44, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi there De728631 - unfortunately I was not able to get around to the project this Thanksgiving, sorry about that. But fret not, it is on my to-do list. Thanks for your patience, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 16:20, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
No worries :) De728631 (talk) 17:10, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
Alright I think we are all set - Category:Friesland articles by quality no longer contains any pages. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you (such as deleting old category pages). Sorry again for the long delay! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:10, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Great work, thanks a lot! Could you please delete all the pointless sub-categories in Category:Friesland articles by quality? We'll keep that top category to preserve the Editorial team pages which are automatically assigned to this specif category. De728631 (talk) 18:38, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
No problem at all! Okay, all set! Stop by any time mate, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 19:06, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Campus Ambassador invitation

Hello again; hope you've had a great semester! Are you still interested in applying as a campus ambassador? Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 03:22, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello again Bob! After reviewing my schedule for the coming semester I am afraid I will not have adequate time to commit to campus ambassadorship. Thanks though for remembering this! Apologies, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 00:05, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello Arbitrarily0. Please, note that the AfD included three other articles. Thanks. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 12:03, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Got it, my apologies! Thanks, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 12:10, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Article page

Hello!

I was randomly checking Wikipedia and noticed my article page had disappeared?

Is there a reason for this?

Many thanks in advance,

Tim Lichfield --[IP redacted by User:Dweller

Hello there Tim, the article Tim Lichfield was deleted because of a consensus to do so at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tim Lichfield on grounds of notability issues. Please let me know if there is anything I can clarify or help you with, Arbitrarily0 (talk) 17:48, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey, Arbitrarily0 -

This article is now in the Prep area of the DYK? Queue. I see that it is part of the Wikipedia:Ambassadors/Courses/Intro to Law and Technology (Brad Rosen) as seen here. I am not familiar with the requirements of a WP article about a law case but couldn't the preponderance of relying on primary sources possibly be problematic? I have added two new refs, but wanted the article to be the best it could be. Cheers, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shearonink (talkcontribs)

Merry Christmas Shearonink! I think (although I cannot say for sure) that in this case primary sources are okay enough, since the courts are held to record cases in an unbiased manner. That said, I think the citations that you added are very helpful. In the short term, at least regarding this DYK, I think the article is quite acceptable. In the long term, this might be a good question for the members of WikiProject Law. Thanks for bringing this up mate, regards! Arbitrarily0 (talk) 04:23, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Why did you Remove Sonny_Dickson's Page! You let Mark Gurman have one but — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.230.154.79 (talk) 04:25, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
