Rollback question

[edit]

Hello. I have found your user-page because you are an administrator who grants rollback privileges. I am performing academic research and I am particularly focused on usage of the rollback feature. I have imported en-wiki dumps into MySQL for analysis, and flag RBs by parsing revision comments for the "automatic comment" left by RB edits.

My question: In February 2009 and the months preceding it, about 200k RBs were being performed a month. Beyond that, usage of the RB feature seems to decline sharply; in September 2009 I show only 1k RBs. Can you help me understand this? Did the automatic revision string change? Did the use of anti-vandalism bots (with their slightly altered RB strings (which I don't try to parse)) become so prevalent that no one does it 'manually' any more?

My current research has found no reason for this 200x change, and I hope you can help. Of course, your help will aid my research -- which in turn will help the Wikipedia community in combating vandalism. West.andrew.g (talk) 16:38, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Cycled Cells removed?

[edit]

I am the creator of the Cycled Cells page and would like to understand why it was removed. I believe the mission and purpose of companies like Cycled Cells which focus on recycling and combating ewaste is very important. Please let me know what I can do to get this page up and going again.

Thanks,

DYK for Strandgaten, Bergen

[edit]
Updated DYK query On July 2, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Strandgaten, Bergen, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Hulen

[edit]

Hi Aqwis! Out of curiosity, do you think Hulen meets the guideline for inclusion? Regards, decltype (talk) 07:57, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My opinion. It does. You could probably find lots of references to build an article on, but it is hard to search for the term "Hulen". I looked in Bergen byleksikon and was surprised that it is not mentioned. Rettetast (talk) 13:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your opinion is highly appreciated! In fact, I wasn't looking to create an article (except maybe a stub). The place was mentioned to me in passing, and I became interested. I had no idea about its long history. decltype (talk) 14:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For the record, I agree with Rettetast. Access to a news archive is pretty much necessary in order to be able to build a reasonable article, though. --Aqwis (talk) 20:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aside from the number 194 chart position that was dismissed during the AFD, where did this chart? It doesn't meet WP:NSONGS until then.—Kww(talk) 22:40, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Paco Clos request for protection

[edit]

Hi, you declined my request for protection on Paco Clos, saying there hadn't been enough recent disruption. But I've had to revert IPs 8 times since 25 August! GiantSnowman 08:25, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And just now another once since - would you consider that "recent" enough? GiantSnowman 17:29, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have now protected the page for a period of two weeks. I believe I mistook the IPs for a single IP when I handled the request, and I'm sorry for that. --Aqwis (talk) 17:38, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not a problem at all! I think it MUST be one editor editing under a number of different IP addresses. But thanks reviewing the situation again and for protecting the page, it's much appreciated. Regards, GiantSnowman 17:45, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protection request

[edit]

Hello Aqwis, thank you for edit-protecting article Brian Cowen. You may also like to take a look at Lil Jon, which is currently being swarmed vandalised my numerous IP's and new users. -- WikHead (talk) 22:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Retracting request - I see User:Mfield has already dealt with the issue in question. Have yourself a great day! :) -- WikHead (talk) 23:13, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another protection request

[edit]

How can I find out whether a semi-protect was granted, if I login a few days after requesting it? I don't see a link on the RPP page for archives of requests/decisions. Should I just assume that some kind of header box will appear on the page if the request is granted? I asked for one in regard to Wali Sanga, which I have been editing slowly in recent weeks. It appears to be one of numerous sites where IP vandals dump on Indonesia, either with insults (as in the main Indonesia article itself, where the entire etymology section was recently revised to "Indonesia means koruptor") or with deletion of any info that cites cultural threads other than Chinese ones. Homelessness article

[edit]

Hi Aqwis. Thanks for semi-protecting the Homelessness article. For years it's been an incessant target of vandalism, and sometimes the erroneous material crept in until someone noticed it, if ever, months later. I wish you could protect it for a longer period of time. We needed the break to get back to serious work on the article instead of swatting flies. Thanks and bests. -- (Bob) Wikiklrsc (talk) 21:42, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thanks that clears it up. It seemed like suddenly there were repeated attempts to press a POV by removing sources, but a compromise may yet be reached. cheers. --Alchemist Jack (talk) 22:13, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Sorry, can you do that for me? I'm new around here. Voskopoja is the official name. Google search comes up with 60,500 results; Moscopole with 5,600. --Guildenrich 20:09, 4 October 2009 (UTC)

The reason why Moscopole is the article's name is because the city, a metropolis of 60,000 pop. during mid. 18th century, doesn't exist now. A village of 700 called Voskopoja on the same place is just a shadow of Moscopole.

About google you can also try Moschopolis [[2]] (22,400) [[3]] (17,900 hits). Alexikoua (talk) 05:20, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alexikoua, I'm not going to honour this B.S. with the name of a non-Neutral POV. I didn't know you were a stalker, besides being a fanatical Greek nationalist.--Guildenrich a.k.a. 79.106.109.18 (talk) 11:31, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guild. you can express your point on the article's talk page, but I see you avoid discussion. Plz don't make such extreme conclusions, you are weakening your arguments.Alexikoua (talk) 12:54, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, you're not a Greek fanatical nationalist full of bull, neither a stalker.--79.106.109.20 (talk) 13:24, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

[edit]

Hello. Well, if you think that it's about interpretation (I think this is straight black and white), then you are correct; I have unprotected. As you are uninvolved, perhaps you would like to protect them? The JPStalk to me 11:12, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just being a pain. What is the point of protecting when THe JPS has blocked the single disagreeing editor? BTW: I support the block. Rettetast (talk) 11:38, 5 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IP editwar

[edit]

Hi. Could you please once again take a look at Muhammad of Ghor? Two IPs are having an edit war, one of them is probably banned User:Khampalak/User:NisarKand, inserting POV and falsifications in the article. He did the same in the article Ghurids, that's why the current version (protected in wrong version) does not make any sense and contradicts itself. Thank you. Tajik (talk) 22:26, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchism protection

[edit]

Yo Aqwis; this might be better as temporary full protection rather than semi-, given that it's an edit war between autoconfirmed editors. Regards,  Skomorokh, barbarian  11:31, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, clicked the wrong button... --Aqwis (talk) 11:32, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see that despite the fact that the IP had no previous blocks, you gave it an indef block over disruptive editing. I think that more than enough time has gone by since the block (1 month already), and that the IP should be unblocked. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 12:49, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Thankyou for participating!"

Hello Aqwis. Thankyou for participating in my recent RfA. I appreciate it. As you know, it failed (probably due to my own interference), but...there's always next year, Lord Spongefrog, (I am the Czar of all Russias!) 19:09, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed nearly unanimously with 174 in support, 2 in opposition and 1 neutral votes. Special thanks goes to RegentsPark, Samir and John Carter for their kind nomination and support. I am truly honored by the trust and confidence that the community has placed in me. I thank you for your kind inputs and I will be sincerely looking at the reasons that people opposed me so I can improve in those areas ( including my english ;) ). If you ever need anything please feel free to ask me and I would be happy to help you :). Have a great day ! -- Tinu Cherian - 06:02, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
