I am the author of all Marksmen Quartet content everywhere. I am their media relations person for over 25 years including those cited in the Gilmer Mirror. I wrote that as well. I wrote something specific for their page that was different from their usual press release to newspapers.
Speedy deletion nomination of The Watkins Family
[edit]A tag has been placed on The Watkins Family, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Replaceable fair use File:Randall Franks, actor and entertainer 2009.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Randall Franks, actor and entertainer 2009.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 02:23, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Randall Franks, actor and entertainer 2009.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Randall Franks, actor and entertainer 2009.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:29, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hargus "Pig" Robbins, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Hart (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). - Dianna,
- Thank you for your recent edits to the Randall Franks page. I have been in the process of reorganizing the content of the page.
- In the effort which is attributed to removing copyrighted material you have removed several paragraphs which are a vital part of the artist history which have been present since the creation of the page but may have been shifted in the reorganization of new presentation of older materials I was making.
- 1) You removed early experiences which focused on his first group The Peachtree Pickers leaving certain paragraph elements without their foundation.
- 2) You've eliminated the entire section on Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys including his bringing him to the Grand Ole Opry and his work with The Blue Grass Boys and his awards and recognitions which set Randall apart in the industry as a result. Monroe was the most vital artist and influence in his life next to Jim and Jesse McReynolds.
- 3) You combined two sections which had relation but were different - The Hollywood Hillbilly Jamboree is a stage show which Franks operates since the 1990s and the paragraph focused on what he has done with the show and all the artists who appeared with him including one of the largest audiences any country artist could have 30,000. You combined it with the "Doc" Tommy Scott section which highlighted their work together which was not related with the Hollywood Hillbilly Jamboree but rather Scott's Last Real Old Time Medicine Show. The only relationship Scott originally had with the Hillbilly Jamboree was he founded the show in 1945 and supported Franks continuation of it.
- 4) You eliminated credit to his work which expanded the bluegrass music industry through SEBA and IBMA.
- 5) You eliminated his list of state and national press awards.
- There are more questions, but these were key areas which I believe need to be returned to the page in order to tell his story appropriately.
- Many of the basics in these sections were not copywritten elsewhere because I authored them for this Wikipedia page back in 2009 when I joined, except for additions through the years and slight changes in my recent reorganization. Mainly, I have been adding sources to the sections and a couple of updated sections on the groups he worked with and a discography. When there is a reference leading to RandallFranks.com, as a content creator, I am also the author of those materials, and his website was created after this Wikipedia page was created, so if the page materials reflect similar content or sentence structure, I wrote both, but Wikipedia page pre-dated the website.
- I appreciate your assistance and would appreciate any help you can provide to return these key areas to the history.
- Appfid Appfid (talk) 01:33, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
- Dianna, Please disregard the above message. I have taken the time to totally re-write all the entries mentioned. I will be going back and re-establishing source footnotes in the coming days. Since I wrote the original on both sources to start with, it was easily redone.
- Thank you.

- Hi Jay8g, Thank you for your feedback. I have contributed to Wiki for 15 years adding and editing a variety of pages. I have never experienced a conflict of interest in any efforts on wiki and nor do I plan to in future. I am a fan of most everything and everyone I write about, contribute to or edit. Some weeks back, I undertook an overhaul of this page specifically to provide a neutral point of view, which was a long standing request by another editor dating back many years and completed that process earlier this summer. I even reworded to improve each section, paragraph, list and format to provide a more encyclopedic format. I wish you well with your continued efforts but in this case your post is not applicable.
