Signature templates should never be transcluded, and they cause problems with archive bots. Many of these have way more than 100 transclusions, so they need to be listed to get this bot to work. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 00:53, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

- Endorsed for rmnac and nac. This looks like a good idea — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 06:44, 5 June 2016 (UTC) A bit of context if it helps: RMnac has 2400+ transclusions, RMpmc has 0, Nac has 3060+. These templates are simple enough, and one could cite the same reason for substitution as that determined for {{EP}} and {{ESp}}. This was a bold move by the requester above, and I thought it made sense (minus RMpmc at this point). — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 01:09, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

Template:EP and Template:ESp are on the list. Please add Template:EEp and Template:ETp to the list as well. (An edit request above included ETp, but somehow wasn't added) — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 06:49, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- I note that Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:EEp shows no transclusions at all, and WhatLinksHere/Template:ETp only shows two pages that are using "demo" links. So adding them here would have no effect unless someone were to suddenly put the template on over 100 pages within about an hour. Is there any particular reason to add them? Category:Wikipedia templates to be automatically substituted
[edit]I must have missed the memo... but is there some other bot handling the pages listed Category:Wikipedia templates to be automatically substituted, but NOT listed on this page? — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 06:51, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know of one, and that includes that I don't remember seeing another bot approved to do it at WP:BRFA. Why do you ask? Anomie⚔ 11:29, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if the bots listed at Wikipedia:Substitution#See also work on the pages listed in the category. There are about 30 pages listed here, and 640+ in the category, so I currently believe the category is mostly inaccurate. I was thinking that removing
|auto=yes
on their doc pages might be a housekeeping task if we know for sure that most of the templates in the category have no bots working on them. — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 15:40, 5 June 2016 (UTC)- You seem to misunderstand how the category works. It's not advisory, AnomieBOT substitutes every template listed in that category specifically because it is in that category, subject to certain safeguards. This page only serves to override the safeguards when a human determines that that is acceptable. Anomie⚔ 20:37, 5 June 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Primefac, yes, it is. It became one when a proper archive was implemented at WP:Requests for page protection/Archive yesterday, a long time after the discussion at WT:RFPP and Template talk:RFPP that led to it. The template is already substituted by Cyberbot I as well. For convenience of administrators who manually type the template syntax, I have intentionally not updated the documentation to request users to manually substitute the template. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 13:10, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
