Delta Gamma Changes
[edit]I've reverted the changes that you made to list of Delta Gamma. I don't see that the method of chapter description at https://members.deltagamma.org/DGMembers/Directories/CL.aspx matches your changes. It appears that on that website, the method is that the most recent use of the chapter letters has no suffix and that prior versions use (I) and then (II) and so on. (with the exception of Psi, where the first usage uses (Mother).) Is this a correct reading of the terminology?
Also, the term "Lists of chapters of United States student societies by society" for the category while not perfect covers groups that have chapters beyond the United States and Canada, such as a few in Israel or Nigeria (or some of the NPHCs that have alumni chapters spread across half the planet).
I'm happy for your edits, let's work toward getting it to a better place!

Some names are actually incorrect on that search site and the chapter numbers (second, etc.) were not accurate. If we add the parentheses around the letters like I, II, III that is good, but I did not do that in the HTML as I was not sure if it would mess anything up! We do not use "second" or "prime" and everything I made is indeed accurate. :-)
- For example, "Fulton Synodical" is actually "Female Synodical" and we discovered that when working on the book, as we found the original charter lists "Female Synodical." Again, I am trying to get this changed.
- The category explanation is helpful to know - could it be perhaps "North America and worldwide?"
- Thank you for your message. Anything we can do to make our description accurate and can reflect our history correctly is great! AnnaEvaMary (talk) 16:47, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- OK. I'm going to copy this over to Talk:List of Delta Gamma chapters so we can continue this and pull in other people. You've done some good work, and I'd just like to make sure that we can get this as good as possible.Naraht (talk) 18:48, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- How may I message you without doing it on this page? This is going to get cumbersome. AnnaEvaMary (talk) 19:15, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- To make sure that I see a discussion, you can do {{U|Naraht}} at the beginning of comments. You can drop things on my talk page User Talk:Naraht or I know there is a way for you to email me based on the email I provided wikipedia, but I don't remember off the top of my page. For now, just assume that I'm going to see everything you write. :) (It is quite easy to see all of a users contributions including where they edit talk pages).

Conflict of Interest...
[edit]Please read WP:COI. (Basically, while we don't like the North Korean government write that North Korea is the best place to live in the world and other things in that area), basically, for these purposes, putting a note on our user page indicating our GLO is actually pretty handy. See User:Maryamanda/Delta Gamma. I've got one for Alpha Phi Omega. However, adding things to a chapter list is so far into "objective information" that they *mostly* won't apply. :) Naraht (talk) 19:15, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
Anna, your updates to the DG article
[edit]I echo Naraht's welcome, and encouragement to help us clean up the list of DG chapters. One of our regular resources is the successor to Baird's Manual, the Archive at the University of Illinois. Here is a link to the document showing Delta Gamma's chapters. Active Women's Fraternities, "D" section.
If you have corrections, supported by citations, please provide them via this website (corrections link)], or by contacting Dr. Fran Becque directly. https://www.franbecque.com/ Jax MN (talk) 19:38, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will message Fran personally. Pi-Montana seems to have gotten mixed up with Gamma Delta-Montana State's info and it was added under Pi as well. Pi-Montana has never been inactive.
- Additionally, Washington & Lee was never installed as a chapter, so it should not appear on our list of chapters. AnnaEvaMary (talk) 19:47, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
- AnnaEvaMaryJax MNSo Zeta Mu was assigned to the school, but never used. I *think* we have had a situation like that in other fraternities, but I'm not sure. I'd post that piece of information over on the chapter list talk page.Naraht (talk) 17:26, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- It never even became a chapter, so is not on our list. AnnaEvaMary (talk) 17:28, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Where this kind of thing has occurred previously, we've noted the status as "Unassigned", and here, I would add an EFN noting that this specific chapter designation had been scheduled for Washington & Lee, but didn't come to fruition. Apparently, DG has left it unused as an historical quirk or out of respect for the earlier effort. There are a few dozen similar examples, scattered among the very old and very new GLOs. Jax MN (talk) 19:46, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Gamma Sigma Sigma had it at the very beginning. 7 sororities came to the meeting to merge and one decided not to (at that point, they ended up joining later and got a different chapter designation.Naraht (talk) 23:16, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

and in the future?
[edit]According to [1] , the sorority convention approves the idea of going to Washington & Lee in the future. I have no idea if it would get Zeta Mu or not!Naraht (talk) 23:18, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- This list is approved each Convention as a broad, inclusive list in case one opens for extension, so there does not have to be a vote between Conventions. I think a note adding the proposed chapter was given a name designation, but a chapter was never established or installed would be okay! AnnaEvaMary (talk) 00:14, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
And...
[edit]I just realized where your handle came from. However, the order of the three founders on the Delta Gamma wikipedia page is different than the order in your handle. Is there a consistent order used by DG?Naraht (talk) 13:28, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- No - I just use them alphabetically by first name. AnnaEvaMary (talk) 16:25, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- OK. :)Naraht (talk) 17:27, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
George Banta
[edit]Is there any reason that you can think of that George Banta should *not* be listed as a notable member of Delta Gamma? (He is notable and at given that Phi Delta Theta has written about his DG membership on their website, the reference is *better* than most of those on the list whose reference is back to deltagamma.org)Naraht (talk) 14:17, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- He certainly is notable for many, many amazing reasons! AnnaEvaMary (talk) 20:35, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- Right now, trying to figure out which section of List of Delta Gamma members, he belongs in. Also want to do a quick look through https://www.deltagamma.org/our-story/notable-dgs/ to see if any others have pages. Note, the two big references below actually both appear to be going there, I need to combine them.Naraht (talk) 13:21, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
