Thanks
[edit]Hi. Hope you are well and all the best for 2022. Thanks for the kind words - glad I've been able to help you around WP. Time to catch-up on what's been happening! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:41, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- ? I'll update all the cricket ground pages from now on too. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:49, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- Waited couple of hours... The series page was already updated... Ankurc.17 (talk) 18:23, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hadn't realized that it wasn't from the official source. Apologies. Ankurc.17 (talk) 18:52, 29 January 2022 (UTC) @Lugnuts:
- No worries. CWI are one of the better cricket boards at posting their squads! Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:52, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Lists of cricket records
[edit]When you update lists of cricket records, could you please keep an eye out for the prose section above tables, as well as the tables themselves. I see you updated List of England Test cricket records and many of the ones for Root / Anderson / Broad also have mentions in the prose summaries. Spike 'em (talk) 16:12, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Noted. Skipped my mind in last few updates to check the pros. Ankurc.17 (talk) 16:31, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Cheers: it is easy to miss, especially the text accompanying some of the photos, which is often in a different section. Spike 'em (talk) 17:19, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
Update
[edit]Hi. As you know that Lugnuts is indefinitely banned from Wikipedia. This left the a huge hole in the cricket community here. Many articles are expected to be not updated properly. Can you try updating International cricket in 2022 or 2022-23 with any added info such as adding the CI scorecards or series tables? You can ask others to do the same. I am trying to take care of the series and player articles. Thanks Human (talk) 19:42, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- When did that happen? Sorry I was away for a month. Ankurc.17 (talk) 19:43, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- Today. Its a long story. If you want to know more you can visit his user page. But anyways your help is expected. Human (talk) 19:46, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi. The series for Australia and South africa in India are not created. It would be nice if you create them in draftspace and later move them in mainspace. I will chip in with additional sources if you do that. I would've done that myself but I am quite busy and have lots of other things to do in Wikipedia now. Thanks Human (talk) 15:48, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
Working on it Ankurc.17 (talk) 16:51, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for doing that. Another thing to note is that whenever you create an article, please create the associated talk pages. Human (talk) 21:42, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
I can't believe you've been here for nine years and you can't edit scores the right way. It's not that hard. Observing other scores will you an idea. If you are not sure on this matter then you should consult or else refrain from doing that. It would save extra work for others. Human (talk) 03:17, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Being polite is not a very tough thing.. Try it. Ankurc.17 (talk) 03:28, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Being ignorant isnt either. I am polite to people who deserve it and I was with you before. Human (talk) 04:05, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Did i do any other edit? If the same mistake happens in future then u can say about being ignorant.... This way you aren't being polite but ignorant... Anyways noted on your above observation. Good day!!! Ankurc.17 (talk) 04:19, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
Warm ups
[edit]Hi. Another request. Can you create the warm up matches article for 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup? The schedules are announced. I can help you with sources if you want. Thanks Human (talk) 12:24, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Adding scorecard links
[edit]Please follow the correct way of writing the score links of Cricinfo in the scorecards. Everytime ypu make the same mistake of just copying the exact url. This is always an extra task for other editors. Human (talk) 06:42, 14 November 2022 (UTC)
I have reinstated the material I added to the Squads section of the above page, which you deleted, as I can see absolutely no justification for doing so (unless you are an apologist for Dan Lawrence, perhaps). It describes who was new to the England Test setup, and gives some background concerning the selection decisions involved. The table, on its own, does not provide such contextual information.

- And how is that relevant to Wikipedia? It's about info and not about opinions…. Ankurc.17 (talk) 11:30, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- So, the first sentence is entirely factual. It tells the reader that two of the squad are uncapped players, whilst the two spinners have been recalled. Cox's position as a reserve batter/wicketkeeper is also a matter of fact, as is Crawley's previous absence through injury. Given the inclusion of other players in a squad of fixed size, then it is not a matter of opinion to say that there was no room for Lawrence, but of arithmetic. It cannot be argued that his performance against Sri Lanka was anything other than poor, as the statistics speak for themselves. Every source I consulted, which was by no means limited to those refrences cited, said the same thing. There are some instances where assessments of players are a matter of opinion, but this is not one of those cases. Therefore, what is it exactly that you are objecting to?

- The fact that no history or opinion is expressed when squads are being put…. Please refer to other articles to maintain consistency Ankurc.17 (talk) 16:58, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- That doesn't mean that information on squad selection should be excluded. Following your line of reasoning then nothing would ever change for the better. Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 17:02, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- If you look at Sri Lankan cricket team in England in 2024, to give a recent example, there is in fact some explanation regarding the makeup of the squad.
- (Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 17:05, 13 September 2024 (UTC))
- Changes in the squad are different then what you have put. Ankurc.17 (talk) 05:34, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but you are simply incorrect. Please consult the sources referenced!!
(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 16:24, 21 September 2024 (UTC))
- Please refer to other articles with regards to squad. Wikipedia is a source for info not opinion about why a player X was dropped or why a player Y was selected. Ankurc.17 (talk) 17:03, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
I assume, since you have not made it entirely clear, that we are talking here about Lawrence only. In relation to his performance, I was not expressing my opinion, nor even of selected sources. It was an "opinion" universally expressed in the press. The question at issue is, at what point is an "opinion" not an "opinion" because it is based in fact – and the facts are that Lawrence had the lowest number of runs and by far the worst average of any of England's recognised batters in the Sri Lanka series. Furthermore, I was very carefully in writing the sentence concerned to make it clear that Lawrence's non-inclusion in the squad was also related to Crawley's return from injury. As expressed, it is an entirely balanced summary of all available sources. If there had been even a single dissenting view concerning Lawrence, it would have been writtten differently.
(Edwin of Northumbria (talk) 22:23, 21 September 2024 (UTC))
Leaving Lawrence aside, if you believe there are any factual errors in what was stated (as you imply above) then please could you specify what they are?
