That racing car article
[edit]I'm astonished to be attacked for helping improve the article you started. I didn't tag it for deletion as almost empty of content, as you said it would be added to; but the name had to be corrected, so might as well do it now. Chill, dude! (And good luck on improving it; sounds like you found a little-explored byway of motoring history.) --Orange Mike | Talk 01:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- So just what is your problem with his full name being cited as Captain George E.T. Eyston? I've never seen him referred to as George E.T. Eyston (with initials) and he was almost universally referred to, both then and now, as "Captain Eyston" rather than even simply "George Eyston". When you don't even know that it's not a "racing car", I rather doubt your bona fides as being in any position to judge the subject matter. Andy Dingley (talk) 01:31, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't presume to judge the subject matter; automobiles are a topic of massive indifference to me. I am attempting, as a professional writer/editor myself, to contribute to this reference project by maintaining a consistent style across the entire project, insofar as that is practical. The Manual of Style strongly discourages the use of titles when not necessary to disambiguate; so George Eyston would be the way to go. --Orange Mike | Talk 00:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
FYI, I have moved the nomination of this category from the speedy rename section to the full WP:CFD section for discussion based on your comments opposing the speedy rename. The discussion is now found here. Thanks! Good Ol’factory (talk) 21:32, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
