Upper Hudson Appellation

The Upper Hudson American Viticultural Area petition was accepted as perfected by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on July 30 2015. The petition includes parts or all of seven counties in upstate New York. These counties include Albany, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie and Washington. The area is approximately 1650 square miles with nearly 65 acres of vines planted. The principal varieties grown of grapes being include Marquette, Frontenac for the reds and La Crescent and La Crosse for the whites. Many other varieties of cold hardly grapes developed by the University of Minnesota or the Cornell-Geneva Breeding program are being successfully cultivated.

Upon completion of the rulemaking process by the TTB, wineries will be able to label their wines with Estate Bottles or use the Upper Hudson AVA name on the bottle. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) regulations state that Estate bottled requires that 75% of the wine came from grapes grown on land owned by or controlled by the winery, which must be located in the viticultural area. The winery must crush and ferment the grapes and finish, age and bottle the wine in a continuous process on the premise.

A tag has been placed on File:Upper Hudson AVA.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Conflict of interest

[edit]

Greetings, I've noticed that your account has been almost exclusively used to create and maintain a single article, Upper Hudson AVA, a subject with which you seem to be directly involved given your username and the record of who petitioned for the AVA's approval at [2]. Generally, users should not edit pages regarding topics with which they have a conflict of interest; please see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. In general the article is written from an unbiased point of view and accurately describes the topic, however, it is absolutely not acceptable to add what appears to be your own real name into the article, as you did with this edit. Please be careful to edit in a neutral manner going forward. Mdewman6 (talk) 18:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
