A barnstar for you!

[edit]
The Vandalism Barnstar
I checked your contributions, and it looks like you've been doing a lot of patrolling of recent changes and the reversion of vandalism lately! I just wanted to leave you this barnstar to thank you for your time and dedication to anti-vandalism. It's a thankless job that isn't for everyone. Keep up the great work, and remember that AIV exists where you can report repeat offenders. If you keep spending time toward reverting vandalism and reporting users to AIV, in a month or so, I'll make you a rollbacker! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:30, 15 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi Finneus. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! —Tom Morris (talk) 21:20, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question

I don't want to be disruptive (not sure if this is talk page material) but I was curious on how you changed the link color of your signature. I've tried using span but it hasn't been working out for me. Thanks! Sylvie N (she/they) (talk) 01:27, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just used this page as a guideline. Here's the code I use for my signature: '''[[User:Andethyst|<span style="color:#009691">Andethyst</span>]]''' [[User_talk:Andethyst|<span style="color:#009691;font-size:85%">(talk)</span>]] Feel free to model yours off of it. Nick Yarris

[edit]

Thank you for reverting vandalism on the Nick Yarris page. Would you be willing also to look at a section of the article on The Fear of 13, which covers an award-winning documentary on Yarris's case. My feeling is that it probably violates several WP norms, including lack of a reliable source. I have been accused of having a conflict of interest in regards to Yarris, so I am reluctant to take unilateral action without support from a more experienced and clearly objective editor. Stop the hasty, badly thought-out reversion

[edit]

While in the midst of editing the article Murder of Nick Corwin for incomplete / ill-formatted citations, I found the following message on my IP address talk page:

Hello, I'm Andethyst. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Murder of Nick Corwin—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Andethyst (talk) 01:39, 12 July 2022 (UTC)

I am quite confident that you made a hasty reversion, without examining the changes to the article. In other words, you have failed in your duty as an editor.

I also was insulted by your evaluation: The phrase "not constructive" is a euphemism used

  1. for amateurish edits, near-vandalism, or unbalanced narrow point-of-view inserts, and
  2. for change to one's own contributions to an article (falsely believed to not be improve-able).

Your hasty action and ill-considered reversion suggest the second option might be the case.

I recommend that your behavior must improve before you can further act as a faithful reviewer of article changes. Your reversion appears to have been a bad-faith change.

Since you were obviously wrong to do so, I have recovered the emendations from the article history and re-posted them. I needed to finish inserting the citations that the footnote mentioned, but did not explicitly link in, anyway. If you still feel itchy to revert the changes, kindly give it some time: Say wait an hour after the last change.

And always, without exception, you are obliged to ACTUALLY READ the changes made – ALL of them – before a blanket reversion. If you find only one or two objectionable changes, you are NOT entitled to revert the whole, but my only edit back in the particular text that you believe was not improved. And since you manifestly have in evidence the judgement of another editor that the text did need revision, you might consider trying your own improvement of the impeached text.

One thing that was imperfect about my own revisions to the article is that I moved a digression out of the citations and into a footnote, but neglected to insert the "notelist" template. My bad. I've corrected my error in that regard. 107.115.33.49 (talk) 02:16, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I made a mistake and shouldn't have reverted that edit. I'll try to be more careful in the future. Andethyst (talk) 12:51, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Was trying to reverse vandalism

[edit]

Thank you for getting in touch. I apologise for not giving an explanation.I was trying to remove the following

Notice

The article Fuad Kavur has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:CREATIVE notability not established. Article is mainly promotional, with numerous edits apparently by the subject of the article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This is an act of vandalism on behalf of the proposer. The revisions and updates are clearly not by the subject. The subject has clearly been targeted by someone with reasons unexplained to delete this article. Your help in restoring it would be much appreciated. Derrick Jensen and transphobia

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that someone had removed the mention of transphobia from Derrick Jensen's wikipedia page, so I've been attempting to re-add that information with sources. I noticed you left me the following message after reverting one of my edits:

Hello, I'm Andethyst. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person, Derrick Jensen, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

The first source I provided was an article with multiple direct quotes from Jensen in which he espouses transphobic beliefs, including misgendering transgender women and asserting that trans people exist because of pornography. I have added two additional sources, one an interview with Jensen published by his own organization Deep Green Resistance in which he defends his transphobic beliefs, asserting that "female" and "male" should be defined biologically, and that cisgender women should be able to exclude transgender women from women-only spaces. This is transphobia, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transphobia#Misgendering. I also added a third source, a news article about protests against Jensen, which also documents Jensen's belief that transgender women should be excluded from women's spaces.

I believe that all three of these sources adequately demonstrate the claim they are being cited for. I also believe that the user who originally removed mention of Jensen's transphobia from the page will continue to remove my edits. Please advise, what should I do here?

The edit I reverted only cited one source, and from what I could tell it wasn’t a reliable one. It looks like your other edits were reverted by a different user, C.J. Griffin. Andethyst (talk) 01:12, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I did not intend to disrupt any page. I am new to wikipedia and just noticed that the page had some suspicious sources such as medium and was essentially written as PR for the pop group BTS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.109.66.34 (talk) 01:47, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
