[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1][2] MrOllie (talk) 14:47, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there, thank you for highlighting this. I shall review the link guideline. I did come across these articles and awards hence I was thought of adding it. One is a famous food website which does annual food awards and other is a tech article. I will try not to add links but only content which can add value. [edit]Hello, I'm Jamedeus. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to SearchGPT have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. - Hi @Jamedeus, I am aware about the guideline but the link and content I added was actually helping user understand the potential limitations of SearchGpt. I think it was a value adding to the page. Can you please help me understand why do you think it was a spam? Anantjain88 (talk) 01:51, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- The source was a blog post on a site which primarily promotes a company, this is not a WP:RS. Even if it was a standalone blog it still would not meet WP:NOBLOGS, which says we can only use blogs written by authors who meet the general notability criteria and are recognized authorities in the field.
- I also noticed that your username matches the author of the blog, and you have added several other links to this site in the past. If you are in fact the author this is a conflict of interest, using Wikipedia to promote your website is not allowed. Jamedeus (talk) 02:44, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
