User talk:Ammitchell
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Ammitchell, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

- How to edit a page

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 05:17, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Teahouse talkback: you've got messages!

Neutral Point of view
[edit]Just a quick question. Have you had a look at WP:BETTER? I know it may be long, but it does contain a wealth of information on improving articles, including how to write an article in an encyclopaedic tone. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 17:31, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Skamecrazy123 I have referenced WP:BETTER, but I can take a look at it again in more detail.Ammitchell (talk) 19:29, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
- If you wouldn't mind doing that, then I can go through the article and see if I can identify the problems that have caused it to be rejected. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 19:34, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Slight change of plan
[edit]I've just had an idea which may make the whole process quicker. I have copied the page into my sandbox, where I will go through it and edit it. Once I have done that, and you have had a look at it, I can explain where the problems occurred, what you need to do to avoid it in future, and you can resubmit it. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 19:53, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Skamecrazy123
I would love to take a look at any changes you suggest to improve the article. Thanks!

follow up
[edit]Hello Skamecrazy123, just wanted to see if you had any suggestions for my aforementioned article? Thank you!
- Yes I do. Sorry for taking so long. I've had a crazy week off wiki. I've got a number of things for you to do, so I'll go through them with you bit by bit. If you want to work on the copy you have in your sandbox, then we won't have conflicting editions.
- The first thing we will go through is the language of the article (basically, how the article is written).
- Simplify language. Go through the article and remove any content that's surplus to requirements. For example, in the Business Career section, the sentence "Sonsini joined venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates (NEA) in 2005" could be reduced to"Sonsini joined New Enterprise Associates in 2005".
- Remove what are known as peacock terms (peacock terms are terms used to promote the subject of the article without plainly summarizing the source of the term). For example, the word prominent can be removed from "Pete Sonsini is a prominent Venture Capitalist based in the Silicon Valley area of California"
- Remove extraneous words. Words such as "also" and "however", and phrases such as "due to the fact that" and "in the year" are prime examples.
- Make corrections to grammar and spelling.
- If you can get started with this lot then that would be brilliant. As always, if you have any questions, drop me a line on my talk page (I'm certain I will be a lot less busy than I was last week). On an unrelated note, if you could add any new questions to the bottom of my talk page rather than the top, it would be very much appreciated. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 01:23, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
Updated article in sandbox

Let me know what else I can do to ensure the article is accepted. THANK YOU!

Speedy deletion nomination of Harry Weller
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Harry Weller requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DGG ( talk ) 04:42, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Problems with upload of File:NEA Logo 1.5inch.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:NEA Logo 1.5inch.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is.
