A tag has been placed on Clevertexting requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Help request

[edit]

{{helpme}}

Copying this helpme request to this user's talk page, since he posted it on mine. His question was "I have the permission of the person who owns the website to write about this technology. What should I do to get the page back on wiki?" (You should get a reply from another editor in due course, Amit. Afraid I haven't got time to give a detailed answer right now.) --McGeddon (talk) 10:55, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So far as the copyright issue goes, what you have to do is explained at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. But it is not as simple as that, because the text you had is far too promotional, and would certainly be deleted as an advertisement if you put it in. Also, subjects for Wikipedia articles have to be notable, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. This means that newly-developed systems are unlikely to qualify, but Wikipedia is not for helping to promote new developments - as an encyclopedia it only reports on things that are already established and have been the subject of independent comment. (e/c)Hi Amit kdin - Thanks for you message on my talk page. There were several problems with the article Clevertexting which would need to be resolved:
  1. Copyright infringement. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and cannot accept copyrighted material without permission. A assertion that the copyright owner has given permission is not sufficient. In order to donate copyrighted material to Wikipedia, please see this page. An alternative would be to write an article in your own words, so that it does not contain any copyright infringing material. Note that, although a copy of the Ergonomist article is hosted on the Clevertexting website, Wikipedia would require permission from Suzanne Hutson, the author, or the magazine owner (if it was considered a work for hire).
  2. Advertising/promotion. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and articles need to be written in a neutral, non-promotional way. This is why text taken from a company's website/brochure is often not suitable for a Wikipedia article, even if we have permission to use it.
  3. Notability. An article on this subject was previously deleted after discussion (see here) as it was felt to be non-notable. Reliable sources are required to assert notability. The article from the Ergonomist is useful for this purpose. Are there other reliable, independent sources for the subject of this article?

Hope this is useful, --Kateshortforbob talk 11:26, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re your request on my talk page, the relevant instructions are at Donating copyrighted materials. If the owner of the copyright has emailed our volunteer response team (as described on the page) they should receive a response in due course. If the licensing is correct, and the content of the article appropriate for Wikipedia, then the article will be restored, with a notation added to the talk page about the licensing. --Kateshortforbob talk 13:29, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
