A tag has been placed on SemEval requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your contributed article, Senseval-3

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Senseval-3. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - SemEval. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at SemEval - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. ukexpat (talk) 17:24, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick message for you. I've got no opinion on whether or not your article should be deleted, but I want to make sure you know I'm not out to get you. I explained my comments over at ANI, and in hindsight I should have put it that way in the first place. If I get some time tonight, I'll see if I can work on this, and I'll try to find something to establish notability; if you have something that does, put it in. I often come across as far more abrasive than I intend, for reasons that are somewhat beyond my control, so I don't want to burn bridges. You can respond here or leave me a note at my talkpage; I won't be around for at least the next 3 1/2-4 hours, but I will respond as soon as I can. Heads-up about Semeval

[edit]

Hi Alvations,

I know you've been working hard to try to improve the pages you added! Sorry you haven't met with the warmest welcome. Have you found the WP:Notability policy yet, to understand what people expect to see in articles? Let me know if I can give you a hand.

Sorry that the wikify conversation spun out--I don't think the individual workshop pages are helpful but I hope SemEval will stay. To try to improve the article, I've done some work on the SemEval article and moved content to the Talk page where I removed large chunks. There's still a lot more work needed; remember, this is a general encyclopedia. Also remember that Wikipedia is collaborative--just because you started an article, doesn't mean that you have to do it all. Jodi.a.schneider (talk)

Hello again. I keep checking into Semeval and noticed that you've added a lot of stuff to your userpage. Welcome to Wikipedia! Do you know about the history feature? All the revisions of SemEval are in its page history. Jodi.a.schneider (talk) 17:33, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
@Jodi, thanks for the concern. no worries about the history page. i knew about it. *blink, i did it on purpose as an easter egg kind of thing... hahahaa... though new to wiki, i ain't no noob to the crude computing world. hahahahaa, since the day IBM fall and PC becomes a reality, my geekness precedes that.
hahaha... just being a little off because it's 2am here and i'm kinda high and this is my own talkpage so i could say anything, (i think). hope you arent offended. i know about the history feature and people can revert them, but the closest thing to ownership on wiki is my own user page so i left it there for people to see. it's kind of cool though.
Cool. :) Jodi.a.schneider (talk) 11:53, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:35, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, if you have an issue with a redirect that doesn't qualify for speedy deletion, please take it to Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion rather than blank the page as you did with Long-distance dependencies. Thanks! -- KTC (talk) 10:06, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I had to temporarily revert your works at Word-sense disambiguation. There were no little edit summaries to consider. With all due respect, would you please say a bit at the new section of the article talk page I opened up for us? Let's get your work back online with a few lines of consideration for the watchers. (See History page for the link to "number of watchers".) Thanks, and Happy editing! — CpiralCpiral 18:01, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, Alvations,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Word Sense Induction and Disambiguation task should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Word Sense Induction and Disambiguation task .

Speedy deletion nomination of Casarecce

[edit]

Hello Alvations,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Casarecce for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 19:58, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
