How can I create a Crew of Cheers (highest rated: 84 million viewers) page just like:
- Crew of Deadwood (4.1 million viewers)
- Crew of The Shield (7 million viewers)
- Crew of Sons of Anarchy
- Crew of Six Feet Under

- Hello, I declined the submission because it was an exact copy from the Internet Movie Database. The source you copied was copyrighted. Articles should be written in your own words. IRC chat
Hello, there is an upcoming, very informal discussion on IRC on the freenode channel ##chzzalpha connect (quick webchat link) on the 6th March 2011 at 17:00 UTC concerning ways to improve help over IRC, and other matters relating to Wiki?edia channels in general, but mostly about #wikipedia-en-help.
This is just a friendly, informal chat. Nothing official, no fixed agenda. There is nothing 'secretive' about it - anyone is quite welcome. Some of you had a chat there, the other day. We wanted to invite them to carry on discussions, at a prearranged time - and thought it courteous to ask group contacts and channel founders too. Or if you signed up manually.
If you aren't at all interested, feel free to remove yourself from the names we've spammed this to, which is in User:123Hedgehog456/IRC informal chat users. If you didn't sign up, well, people have been adding loads of names to the list, so someone might have accidentally added your name.
Thank you, Chzz ► and 123Hedgehog456 19:49, 15 February 2011 (UTC).

Hi, could you please check an article I wrote? It's called Price theory: economics is mistaken it's on my personal page Fabian Colinas as an article for discusion, thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fabian Colinas (talk • contribs) 02:25, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Your article is rather good, but it written in a essay-like tone. It should be written in a Neutral point of view and should also avoid original research. Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War is a good example of how book articles should be formatted. I hope that helps you, Alpha Quadrant talk 02:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Larry Cox links
Greetings! I see that you moved Larry Cox to Larry Cox (baseball catcher) today, turning the former into a disambiguation page. Have you got a bot working on fixing the incoming links to Larry Cox? Most, if not all, of them appear to refer to the catcher. —C.Fred (talk) 00:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Just curious...
I'm a bit curious, how did you get the page title for your userpages to display as something other than the default? It looks quite nifty! Sophus Bie (talk) 15:44, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- I use {{DISPLAYTITLE:<span style="color:#000070; font-family:Times New Roman"><span style="display:none">User:</span>''Alpha Quadrant''</span>}}. Ajusting the parameters will change the look. For example, changing #000070 to #65FF00 would make it lime green. <span style="display:none">User:</span> hides the User: prefix. I hope that helps you. Lalaine
In regards to this:
Please do not attack other editors, as you did at User talk:87.114.251.86. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Alpha Quadrant talk 01:01, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
I was simply responding to what that other user had posted, singling out MY EDITS of this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalaine concerning her past indiscretion w/crystal meth in 2007,and the subsequent ramification of her actions. Granted,I went a little overboard in how I deal w/his "comment",I don't see though..why you only scolded ME. If you didn't,then I will retract my claim that you too, were "singling me out for something which was clearly not a one sided argument." Silvershrek (talk) 23:19, 10 March 2011 (UTC)silvershrek
- Personal attacks on Wikipedia are not tolerated. The Lalaine article you removed sourced information because it was negative, and then made rather insulting comments on the IP editor's talk page when they restored it. The accusation of vandalism was false. The IP editor calmly asked you what they did wrong and explained their reasoning and you again attacked them. The IP editor then asked you why you resorted to personal attacks, to which you responded to them by calling them a clone. The IP editor then calmly replied to you and came to the Wikipedia IRC help channel and inquired about it. I then replied to the IP's help request and reviewed the situation. From what I see you attacked the IP editor four times and the IP editor calmly replied four times. Looking over your edits it appears that some of your other talk page responses have also been a bit angry. This is why I gave you a warning. I hope that clears this up. Reverts to Video CD
Why not keep an encyclopedia as vague as possible. You may have noticed that some of the points are even covered further on and even in linked articles.
Also Video CD is completely incompatible with DVD. They are not even emotely similar. Most (if not all) DVD videoo players will play Video CD, but only because they contain the firmware to do so. 86.135.169.81 (talk) 17:52, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Fair comment. Actually, it is a fact. I included it as a comment, in case someone should try and edit it back. The fact that DVD video players play Video CD may lead the less informed to believe that they are fully compatible (which is in fact what the article said before I corrected it). 86.135.169.81 (talk) 18:04, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Kashoo marked for deletion?
Hello Alpha Quadrant,
I am writing to inquire about specific reasons why the company I have written an article about has been nominated for quick deletion. The company called Kashoo is a fairly new but very relevant for a number of reasons. One of them being that they have created an open source project at their core. This project uses reflection and dependency injection and is way out on the front of what is happening in Java development. They are the very first (and only) Facelets-like implementation for GWT. I tried to point this out in the article but maybe it was not seen as significant because there is a lack of understanding about software development?
As a caveat, I run my own company (beloud.ca) and use this product. I chose to write an article about them on Wikipedia after noting that they were not included in the comparison of accounting software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_accounting_software). In order to have them listed in this list I was told that I needed to make an article. I followed the guidelines the best I could and had my first attempts deleted immediately. I created this article on the discussion page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Kashoo) so that I may have a discussion about how to improve the article in order to get it included. I have not received comments or discussion and rather just default note citing it for quick deletion.
I have outlined the open source component that makes this company relevant (not to mention they are an emerging market leader in a newly defined area of SaaS). And I have also linked to articles from non-trivial sources (Google, Yahoo and Business Week). What is wrong with my approach? These guys have been so great to me I really think they should be included in the comparison of accounting software. I would also like to note that after auditing the other companies included in this list, comparing accounting software, there are at the very least 26 companies that fall short of even the simplest criteria you lay fourth - how is it that they are included?
I would really appreciate any advice or help you could give to get this article listed.
Thanks very much for taking the time.
Best regards,
Christopher.
Here is a list Wiki articles on accounting software companies that fall short of the criteria laid out to me. Some of them are extremely blatant with no referencing articles at all and others with self referential material:

Non-admin closure
Hey there. I haven't checked out all your recent non-admin closures, but the one you made on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Libertarians for Life was inappropriate. WP:NAC directs non-administrators to restrict themselves to clear keep outcomes. 2 against 3 does not a clear keep make. The debate should have been relisted or left to an admin. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 04:48, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- WP:NAC is an essay. It is not a policy nor a guideline. It is suggested that non-admins only handle clear debates, but it does not require them to do so, as it is not a policy, nor a guideline. This is suggested to prevent bias from occurring, as most administrators know how to remain neutral. The reason for the nomination was that you couldn't find any reliable third party sources. As a note, with organizations it is a good practice to search the Google news archives before nominating an article for deletion, on the grounds of containing only unreliable sources. Usually sources listed at Google news also meet our guidelines for reliable sources. Alpha Quadrant talk 16:34, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- I did search the news archives. I didn't find anything significant. That's why, when people claimed there were loads of sources, I asked them to link these sources. Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:37, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- I also don't think you, Roscelese the AFD nom. should have reverted the close. It would have been better left to someone else to revert to avoid a COI. Tofutwitch11 (TALK) 18:07, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough. If it happens again, who should I ask? Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 18:37, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- What do you consider significant coverage? There are several articles listed here solely about the organization. Granted some are Pay-per-view news archives, but that doesn't make them unreliable. If you disagree with a closure you should bring it up to the closing admin/user. A neutral administrator close shouldn't hold more weight than a neutral non-admin closure. Administrators are not granted a "status" after a RfA, they are entrusted to perform cleanup tasks. When closing a AfD administrators are acting as a neutral party, and evaluating the two sides of the arguments to see which is correct according to policy. Which is what I did. Just like when I closed the move debate at Talk:Pro-life a while ago. Alpha Quadrant talk 18:51, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Can you actually link one of these articles that you claim exist? I'm looking at the exact results you showed me, and I'm finding passing mentions, opinion pieces, and letters to the editor. If this coverage really exists, how difficult is it to link it? Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 19:02, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Roscelese that non-admins should not close contentious or unclear discussions. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paternity (House), a contentious discussion, should have been left for an admin to close. Likewise, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sheraan Amod should have been relisted or left for an admin to close. That a non-admin closed it resulted in a participant's renominating the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sheraan Amod (2nd nomination). Non-admins do not have access to the delete button so are forced to close discussions as "no consensus" or "keep" as opposed to "delete". To avoid creating unneeded controversy, it is best to leave such discussions to admins to close. Cunard (talk) 02:51, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- While the liberals for live AFD was "borderline NACable". As a non-admin I wouldn't have touched these 2 except maybe a second relist for Sheraan Amod because it's a BLP. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 03:30, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip Ron. I'll leave the more controversial closes to the admins. Alpha Quadrant talk 14:25, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

- Ok a question about internal links: When I put a plural word in double brackets, one that is not exactly the same word as an article title that I want to link to, all that happens is it is a red link. - Ok, that issue is quite easy to fix. If I wanted the word "Apples" to go to "Apple" I could write it as [[Apple|Apples]] and it would appear as Apples, but would still go to the article on Apples. Alpha Quadrant talk 14:15, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

- You can cite a reference multiple times using [2] for the first time you use it. After you do that you can insert <ref name = "NAME"/> (notice the /). I have create an example here. I hope that helps Alpha Quadrant talk 03:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Can you please move my article to be created to a new article? I tried using the move command, but I think I just moved the talk page only! So I reverted it and tried again, but it says that the name I want, "Moonlighting Protein" has been taken-thats because I just moved the talk page there! So I tried again assigning the new title "Wikipedia: Moonlighting Protein" and I was able to move it, but that is not the name I want! SO I reverted that as well. Please move this to an article named "Moonlighting Protein" Here is the url:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/Moonlight_Proteins Swmmr1928 (talk) 03:20, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- So, would like me to move the article to live article space, or move the article to be created so that the future title is "Moonlighting Protein"? If I move the article to main article space anyone will be able to edit it. Alpha Quadrant talk 03:27, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
Move it to live article space, my professor will ignore edits made by users not in our group, but edits made by users not in our group is discouraged, but allowed as you pointed out.Swmmr1928 (talk) 14:18, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
And the talk page for the article is not there, I have somehow changed its title, but if you click on the talk page at the top of the vector skin, it takes you to a page with a link to the talk pageSwmmr1928 (talk) 14:23, 16 March 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, the submission, and the talk page are now located at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Moonlighting Proteins. I have tagged the redirects created by the moves for speedy deletion. After they are deleted I will be able to move the article to main article space. Alpha Quadrant talk 15:36, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

article about John Clarke Slater
You offered to answer questions about creating biographical articles when you accepted my piece about George Macfarlane. I have just rewritten the entire article about John Clarke Slater. Someone had put up an article that left out rather a lot. Comments on what I have done would be appreciated, if it is appropriate for me to seek them.
Also, if I want to start an article that a student will complete under my direction, should I start it in my user page (this would require the student editing in my page, and I do not know if that would trigger a vandalism alert) or can I write something really minimal and get it moved into article space on the strength of an assurance from me that it will be worked on by someone else within a few hours. Thanks. Michael P. Barnett (talk) 02:36, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- That article is really good. The only suggestion I would give you is when more than one reference cites a paragraph, you can use more than one set of <ref> </ref> reference tags. Other than that the article is very good quality. As for creating an article, you can create it in either your userspace, and have the student edit it, or create a short article in the article space. The student probably won't trigger any edit filters/anti-vandalism tools if he uses a clear edit summary. If you create a short article in mainspace you can add the template
{{New page}}
so the new page patrolers know that you plan on expanding it. Alpha Quadrant talk 14:39, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Marking articles students are working on
Howdy, Online Ambassador!
This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students (in particular, any ones you are mentoring, but others who don't have mentors as well) and do these things:
- Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
- If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
- Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.
And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.
Thanks! --Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 18:10, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Raymond Kertezc
Why did you do a non-admin close of Raymond Kertezc with a consensus to merge? Not counting the nomination, two votes were to delete and two were to merge. That's not a consensus. Kansan (talk) 18:54, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

- The references are fine now, but biography section has quite a few quotes, comprising of about half of it. Can you please write more of the information in your own words. It is ok to use some quotes, and even keep the existing ones, though maybe make it a little clearer that it is a quote, but the majority of the article cannot be comprised of quotes. My other suggestion would be to write the list of accomplishments using prose. After those two things are done the article should be ready. Alpha Quadrant talk 23:51, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Mentor Request
Hi Alpha Quadrant:
I am new to WIki and it is for a class assignment for Environmental Law. I was thinking of doing a Wiki page on FIFRA and argosciences. I was hoping you would be my mentor when I need guidance or tech support. My topic is not set in stone because I have a partner in this project so the subject might change.
Let me know if you would be my mentor or if I would be better suited with someone else.
Thank you.

Hi, thanks for listening to me. I'm brand new to publishing on Wikipedia.
I have a very severe issue with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quake_done_Quick
I feel that the Physics they implement are impossible without speeding up the game engine falsely -- which I feel is a cheat. This is based on personal experience, as the "Quake done Quicker" video they have shown on their website can not be duplicated in real time. I'm a very skilled player and can not duplicate their results.
I belive they have "messed with" or changed the physics of the game engine in order to achieve they're goal of being the fastest. Which, as I have tried to duplicate without changing the physics of the game, are impossible.
How can a challenge them on Wikipedia?
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
P.S. Since I'm new, I'm not even sure how to address them publicly?!
Please help.
Thanks,

Clarify declining the creation of JEFF the Brotherhood band page
Hi Alpha Quadrant. You recently declined the article for the band JEFF the Brotherhood with the statement that the band "appears non-notable," although this article meets the requirements of notability for a band. The band meets criterion 1 "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself" and criterion 4 "Has received non-trivial coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country." Independent media coverage supporting these points were cited in the article. If this is inadequate, please explain why in greater detail. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roboluncheon (talk • contribs) 08:47, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hello Roboluncheon, the reason I declined it is because the version of the article doesn't really go into detail. It mentions that the band has gone on numerous tours, but it is unspecific. It implies that the band may be notable, but it doesn't explain what it is notable for. Could you please expand the article a bit? Alpha Quadrant talk 22:55, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi
It's an April Fool's joke, I will be ensuring it's closed by tomorrow. =) CycloneGU (talk) 00:15, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

- We aren't, nomming yourself is fine, but nomming others without their permission is not a good idea. Yes, he was blocked, but it was quite recent and there is a potential that he could eventually come back. Alpha Quadrant talk 00:25, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I just asked Chzz about the quick deletion and why everybody's quickly deleting the joke; he mentioned that this subject came up last year. I was following the model from 2009, which was accepted as a good joke by the community. Clearly I missed the 2010 incident. Oh well, I won't push it, but for future reference (for myself and others who post), if the user is a made-up user or bot or something, is that considered acceptable? What kind of jokes of this type are more likely to be accepted? CycloneGU (talk) 00:31, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Well, a few years ago someone created a Bot flag request and changed their signature to VandalBot. Just a note, RfA is done to death. The jokes that survive deletion are the ones that hae never been done before, funny, but are not perceived as attackish. Alpha Quadrant talk 00:40, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
- Saw your reply before the talkback. I've done three little pranks this year, my first year participating; obviously the RfA was the one I expected to run into resistance with. I decided to spontaneously make one of the humorous edits to Jimbo's page as well (already put it on the summary page for the annual events, it involved notice boxes much like on Chzz's talk page), and then did my other planned quirk (and original one) at the Meta Wiki. Looks like the Meta one will be the best of the three. =) CycloneGU (talk) 00:57, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

License problem
Hi Alpha, I have some problems with my images' licenses, and I can't fix it. I've read about it and I don't see what I do wrong... Those are images which I took on a public Website (Collegial Centre for Educational Materials Development (CCDMD)) to put on the CCDMD'S wiki page, at the wish of the orgaisation. What should I write on the licence section? Thank you very much,
Fay24 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fay24 (talk • contribs) 22:54, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
- Well, you could ask the organization to release the images under a free license. Because the website is currently copyrighted the images need to be released under a license compatible with Wikipedia, as content on Wikipedia must be free. Perhaps you can email the organization and ask them to release just the few images you uploaded under one of the licenses listed here. If they are fine with that you can ask the company to email the Wikipedia OTRS team confirming the license. Instructions for emailing the OTRS team can be found here. If they decline, one of the images may be eligible under the fair use criteria, in that case you will need to fill out a fair use rationale for the image that you use. I hope that helps you. Alpha Quadrant talk 00:10, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi Alpha, Thank you very much. Is it the same thing if I want to put sreenshots of their Website on their Wiki page, at their wish? Thanks once more! Fay24 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fay24 (talk • contribs) 13:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, if you wanted to use screenshots of their website then the company would have to send a email to the OTRS team. If the company does not wish to release the images under a free license then one, perhaps two screen captures would be allowed under the fair use policy. Alpha Quadrant talk 13:44, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
AFC notice...
Wrong guy, I just added the AFC submission template. I have moved the notice to the creator's talk page. – ukexpat (talk) 15:21, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. The template is set up so that the user who substs the AfC template is considered the "creator". So to correct this the |u = Ukexpat parameter needs to be corrected to |u = Ddzz02468. The script that almost everyone in AfC uses looks at the |u = parameter, and notifies the user listed there by default. Alpha Quadrant talk 15:49, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

- Hello Graphmaster, the sources are fine now, but I see one issues Parts of the article don't appear to be written in a neutral point of view. One thing I would suggest is the biography section of the article appears to heavily rely on the first source. This source is reliable, but if possible it would be best if additional sources were used as well (this is just a suggestion though). After the article is written in a neutral tone I should be able to accept it. I hope that helps you. Alpha Quadrant talk 03:14, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/USC Limited
Hello Alpha Quadrant. I noticed you declined the afc I wrote - Wikipedia talk:Articles_for_creation/USC_Limited. I'm not complaining, just wanted to ask about reliable sources. I understand that a company's website or a litigant's essay may not be considered a "reliable third party" source, but a company's business registration (a legal document, registered with the Legal Records Office in a district or city in Japan, or a court ruling/agreement I would think would be considered a completely impartial, published source (perhaps more impartial than a newspaper article, given that they are legal documents, and not journalism). I may or may not edit the article and resubmit it, but wanted to get your thoughts on this first. Thank you very much for your time and input!Gobledeegooke (talk) 11:05, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- You are correct, the court case sources are reliable, however, in order for the company to meet the notability guidelines the company needs significant coverage in reliable third party sources. If you can find two or three other sources, for example a newspaper article or a magazine article, then it would make it clear that the company is notable. Oh, in case you didn't know this, sources do not need to be in English. They can be in Japanese, or any other language. I hope that helps you. If you have any other questions I would be happy to help. Alpha Quadrant talk 13:36, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Please help me obtain some fairness
On an article section of a religious college, an editor persists on listing exclusively a couple of graduates who are notorious criminals. I feel his exclusive list of graduates is unfair to the many other graduates who are not criminals and who are unfairly represented by this editor who seemingly is opposed to that particular religious organization.
The wiki article is called Hyles-Anderson College and the section is called Alumni, while the seemingly biased editor is called MrOllie, but created a new editor acc that he is using to send threats and erase my changes. His new acc is HHaeyyn89.
My request is for you to evaluate the proposed addition:
A X01153943 added a new section titled Distinguised Alumni that I fully support. The new section is listed as follows:
Dr. Jack Schapp, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN. In July 2006, the Church Report magazine named First Baptist number 24 on its list of the 50 most influential churches in the United States.[3]
Kevin Cowling, Pastor of Valley Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ and Administrator of Valley Baptist School & of Valley Baptist Institute.
Tim Ruhl, Pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Chico, CA.
Michael Ray, Pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa, CA.
Rodger Alley, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Greater Denver in Denver, CO.
Daniel Kaighen, Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Norwalk, CT.
Dennis Atkinson, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Englewood, FL.
Brian Evans, Pastor of Oakwood Baptist Church in Flowery Branch, GA.
Keith Gomez, Pastor of Northwest Bible Baptist Church in Elgin, IL and Administrator of Northwest Baptist Academy & of Providence Baptist College.
Jonathan Pope, Pastor of Christchurch Baptist Fellowship in Houston, Tx.
Clayton Reed, Pastor of Southlake Baptist Church in Southlake, TX.
Dr. Jeff Owens, Pastor of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church in Martinsburg, WV and Administrator of Martinsburg Christian Academy.
Dr. John Paisley, Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco, WA.
I realize that the format for this new addition may not be the best, but I still feel that leaving the biased editor's list of only two criminals as "THE ALUMNI" is unfair. Could you please help include at least a couple of these prominent alumni into the list of Alumni to have a proper and fair sample?
A stated reason these alumni was erased from the last was that "A pastor in Flowery Branch, Georgia, a town of less than 4,000 people, is not notable" even though X01153943 stated that "The location of a church is irrelevant when assessing notability."
The criterion used to have these alumni included is that they are grads that are Pastors of mega-churches and most well-known large churches (over a 1000 members) and college founders.
I feel my error may be that I do not know yet how to place the information in Wiki the way I am supposed to place it. Either way, I feel there is still a need to meet at a middle ground on this issue. X01153943 even shortened the list to include only those with verifiable notability, and even requested assistance from the editor in question to obtain a middle ground. Request was deleted.
Your help to obtain a fair resolution, even if it is not fully what the graduates and me desire, would be greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr. W. Flores (talk • contribs) 10:27, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

If you could please look into this, all I wanted to do was IMPROVE the article and add more reliable sources.12.196.37.227 (talk) 17:25, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

User making false accusations of vandalism and reverting valid edits to article
This user:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:MikeWazowski
Is undoing valid sources and undoing edits and is now making false accusations of vandalism on my talk page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:98.151.53.27&redirect=no
This user is under the delusion that they are an editor or Wikipedia administrator and is now making false accusations to other users and threatening to ban people when they have no such power.
This is the article I am trying to improve yet this user keeps undoing valid references and edits:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_production_companies
Please help, thanks.98.151.53.27 (talk) 04:29, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, you are correct, this editor has reverted a few edits as "vandalism" when the edits were most definitely not vandalism. He appears to disagree with your edits and the way you are writing the list. It would be best if the you discussed the changes with MikeWazowski. I'll ask him why he keeps reverting your edits. Best, Alpha Quadrant talk 13:31, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with you, 98.151.53.27 - you may have been edit warring, but you've been bitten pretty badly.Jasper Deng (talk) 15:00, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Introduction to disambiguation pages
Hi,
Thanks for joining Wikipedia. I noticed that you created this disambiguation page. However, please note that disambiguation pages use a different style where there is only normally one navigable link (the subject) per line.

Request for comment
Could you comment on my proposal in the idea lab? Also, is there a way I can make the link go directly to the section I created (related to nudity in images)? Ryan Vesey (talk) 01:28, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- To create a link that goes directly to a section add #SECTIONNAME to the end of the link. For example, to create a link to this section I would write it as [[User talk:Alpha Quadrant#Request for comment]], with would appear as User talk:Alpha Quadrant#Request for comment. Wikipedia Ambassador sweatshirt
Hi! This is the last call for signing on for a Wikipedia Ambassador hooded sweatshirt (in case you missed the earlier message in one of the program newsletters about it). If you would like one, please email me with your name, mailing address, and (US) sweatshirt size. We have a limited number left, so it will be first-come, first-served. (If more than one size would work for you, note that as well.)

Anti-vandal help and AfC adoptee request
Interested in adoption, I am keen to offer anti-vandalism help, but need more experience right now. Geoffjw1978 (talk) 07:22, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sure, I would be happy to adopt you and teach you about Articles for Creation. Alpha Quadrant talk 14:09, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks v much, I have a draft article ready for AfC, but I do not want to bother promoting it to main space just yet. I'd like it reviewed first by several people so it does not become unreadably covered in the "citation needed", "merge proposal" or, heaven forbid, "deletion candidate" type tags. If there are any sentences which require work, please edit them directly / put in comments or paste the sentence into this "Discussion" tab. If you could give it the once over, I'd appreciate that. >> Here << is the article draft. Geoffjw1978 (talk) 14:25, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- I think the main issue with the article is that it is fairly essaylike. There is a clear introduction and a thesis statement, as well as supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. The article also contains personal opinions. When writing a paper this style is appropriate, but when writing an encyclopedia entry it is a bit different. Usually Wikipedia entries have a lead section that summarizes the entire article in 2 - 5 paragraphs. The body of the encyclopedia entry you are writing is organized correctly, but there I noticed there are quite a few opinion. For example "It is safe to say that these relationship skills have a literary history since writing began." is a personal view, not a fact. It is possible for others to disagree with it. Wikipedia articles should not contain personal opinions unless the source is specifically mentioned to hold that opinion. For example, if you have a reliable source stating an opinion about an actor, you could write as "According to _____ so and so performed well in some movie". The last thing I noticed was that some sections are comprised entirely of quotations. Quotations are good for supporting a section, but should not be used exclusively. I hope this feedback helps you. Alpha Quadrant talk 15:02, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your constructive and considered feedback, I agree with your analysis. As my first article I am aware that most sentences need to be honed towards wikipedia standards individually. You are saying that the lead section should actually summarise all elements of the whole article. Geoffjw1978 (talk) 07:56, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
- As requested, the lead section now summarises the whole article, the personal opinion identified has been corrected. I'd really appreciate a re-review, See a guide to the personal opinions in the article here Geoffjw1978 T L C 22:58, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- It is better, however you need to make it clear that the opinions in the article are opinions and explain who holds these opinions. The article also contains original research. For example,

- Thanks for having another look. For that particular sentence it is one of the tenets of the Relate organisation. I can deal with it by having several direct cite-book refs after the sentence, but - for your information - my usual way of citing these in the article is to provide a (nn) round brace link at the END of the paragraph, this links to both the quote from the source passage and also a complete page-ref citation. The (round-brace) links are primarily to assist reviewers and could be removed when the article is moved to main-space, if that is the consensus. It is important to me that these things are caught before prime-time. I want to avoid a deluge of "citation required" graffiti in main-space. Look out for the (round-brace) links, as they are a bit "special"; part of a village-pump proposal I am working on. Thanks again for your help Geoffjw1978 T L C 22:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
- Your help has been most instructive and I am extremely grateful for the time you have spent picking over my musings. I have weighed up the dichotomies of policies between opinion against contrary forces precluding nomination of sources. I have balanced all, brought all to mind, and while the sum of human knowledge drove to this tumult in the Wiki-sphere, this lonely impulse won't be submitted to AfC. All that remains of this waste of breath are sincere apologies to Yeats. I foresee a final farewell to this article. Geoffjw1978 T L C 22:12, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
