Re:ANU template
Hi there, thanks for letting me know. I'm writing a proposal on Talk:Australian National University at the moment that suggests merging several pages and/or creating new ones, hopefully that could result in restoring the template to the previous version? P.S. I'm not sure whether I'm meant to respond on my talk page or on yours, please feel free to move this if I'm not replying in the right place. Thanks! Doonagatha (talk) 11:12, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
- That's ok, replying on either talkpage is ok. Some editors prefer using one to keep the discussion in one place. FYI using a colon indents your text. If you have reliable references then I can see some of the pages being created. An institution with the history of ANU probably has some notable history. Great work on those university rankings
I'm pleased to see someone systematically checking these ranking claims. Many appear to be cited from the institution's own websites and don't seem to match what I saw when I did some lookups on the actual ranking sites. But I have a conflict of interest with a number of universities (or at least might be perceived to) so didn't think it was appropriate for me to update the Wikipedia articles. Kerry (talk) 22:46, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
- Completely agree, there's a lot of out of date and uncited statements regarding the universities. I'll admit I haven't been very thorough with checking these on every article because I was concentrating on the ranking boxes. I'll go back and have a look if I have the time. Regarding University of York
Please refer to the edit history on this. I changed the page citing a talk page consensus I found (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:University_of_York/Archive_1#Main_image) - the other editor has reverted my edits twice, with the comments 'nice try' and 'being WP:BOLD. I'm really struggling to understand why my changes are being reverted, and feel it's simply as I'm editing under an IP. I'd appreciate it if next time more thought was put into the situation, simply than just a warning template sent.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Groningen. I undid some changes you have made becuase you provided no clear reference/reason. omermar 12:43, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, the reason for that is all those people are unreferenced and nothing shows there notability. See WP:NLIST. Also, for one the reference is an academic paper, that appears promotional. I hope that is enough reason and you will revert back. Aloneinthewild (talk) 17:05, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
Hello. I just reviewed (per NPP) your recently re-created page and based on the information in a number of references I think this article should be considered sufficiently notable. Hopefully, there is no copy and pasting from the references. If there is please rewrite those passages in your own words. I don't have time to look for copyright violations at this time. Hopefully, I can come back to it. If the notability of this topic is challenged please let me know by pinging me here or on my talk page and then it can be discussed. It does not conventionally qualify under GNG, so some common sense needs to be applied (with some good reasoning). Ciao ---Steve Quinn (talk) 02:40, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Mistake: "political", not "social" in the title of the LSE page
Sir,
You recently removed a comment I made about this London School of Economics page: [[1]]
This comment was probably not made according to the rules, sorry about that.
However, there is a real problem concerning this page, because its title is WRONG, and this has an impact on all Facebook pages referring to the London School of Economics (LSE).
The title of this page is: "London School of Economics and SOCIAL Science". This is wrong, because the correct name for the LSE is: "London School of Economics and POLITICAL Science".
The point is that Facebook uses this very page for all alumni, therefore displaying a wrong university name on our résumés! Please see here: https://www.google.fr/search?q=%22London+School+of+Economics+and+Social+Science%22&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=sP7VWd2dF6SCwgLdi4rADQ
I actually tried to correct the title of this LSE page myself, however I could not do so because it is an automatic "redirect" page.
So could you please correct this "Social Science" page? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Champeaux (talk • contribs) 11:03, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Ways to improve List of Free University of Berlin people
Hi, I'm Boleyn. Aloneinthewild, thanks for creating List of Free University of Berlin people!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please add your sources. See WP:SOURCELIST: Lists, whether they are stand-alone lists (also called list articles) or embedded lists, are encyclopedic content just as paragraph-only articles or sections are. Therefore, all individual items on the list must follow Wikipedia's content policies: the core content policies of Verifiability (through good sources in the item's one or more references), No original research, and Neutral point of view, plus the other content policies as well. Although the format of a list might require less detail per topic, Wikipedia policies and procedures apply equally to both a list of similar things as well as to any related article to which an individual thing on the list might be linked.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

ANI Experiences survey
Beginning on November 28, 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) will be conducting a survey to en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.
The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

Quenn Mary
Hi.
Firstly I would like to thank you for keeping some of my revisions given they were marked as spam for some reason by another user. I understand your point about some affiliations are not relevant however the SEPnet affiliation recieves a lot of funding in grants and is a collaborative research group, with other universities in Physics. Given Queen Mary is a founding member, I feel this would be important to highlight given this affiliation isn't just subject specific but also provides an outreach and a summer placement programme to engage more people. This affiliation has also been put on the lists of other university pages e.g. Sussex. It would be also be important to display different subject affiliations as there are medicine specific ones already on the list.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Mary_University_of_London https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepnet
Kind Regards. Icevalley17 (talk) 02:53, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, it's a bit of an unclear area really, my view is the affiliations should be university wide links rather than ones by individual departments or subjects. That way we prevent the list becoming too long (say if we listed every affiliation). That doesn't stop it being listed in the page somewhere. It might be worth starting a discussion on the article talk page to see what people think. My reasoning for keeping GMEC is its a large and well known association whereas Sepnet seemed department specific. Aloneinthewild (talk) 22:35, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

vrije universiteit amsterdam
Hi, I saw there was some confusion among foreign students i know because of the german name "freie universitat berlin" and the dutch name "vrije universiteit amsterdam". Lots of students are from abroad, and choose to study in these two global cities, therefore in my opinion it would improve the page because a student could see the difference between the two institutions and make his choice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vustrijder (talk • contribs) 14:44, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: David Cowan (journalist)
Hello Aloneinthewild. I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
tag from UTS-UC Hawks Handball Club, which you proposed for deletion. Played international and national at the highest level of handball. Instead, I have started a deletion discussion at Talk:UTS-UC Hawks Handball Club#Proposed deletion, which you may comment on. I have explained my reasons for doing so there. Thanks!--Malo95 (talk) 08:53, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 14
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Derbyshire Arrows, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Basketball League (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:17, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
