I'm concerned about your revert at List of Argentines. Yesterday I reverted a number of edits by User:108.54.69.247, who has been skipping from people-list to people-list adding birth and death dates. The editor obtains these dates by going to the target article, copying the birth and death dates, and pasting them into the particular list of people they are editing. My concern is that mass amounts of unsourced content is being copied from article to article. Just look at their edits to List of Argentines; of the first few names, Paco Jamandreu, Andy Bellatti, and José Luis Cabezas, there is no source on the target article to support the edit. Have a look at Miguel Najdorf, whose article was tagged as needing additional citations five years ago. There is nothing in the article to support his birth date; not even this obituary in The New York Times. On some articles, this editor added birth and death dates unsourced to articles with redlinks. This mass circular sourcing and improper copying within Wikipedia (we're talking in the thousands) undermines Wikipedia as a reliable source of information, and frustrates hard-working editors who carefully source their work. I'd ask you to please re-examine your edit, and also have a look at this IP editor. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:42, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

@Magnolia677: I haven't followed the IP but on other edits, adding dates to this article; they are correct and in the articles (at least the ones I checked, not to mention I know Argentina as it is one of my knowledge items). Dates of birth/death do not need to have sources or reference in lists, but in the articles instead. -- Alexf(talk) 10:47, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
That's what I just told you. The editor is copying unsourced dates from each biography. I just gave you four examples. I've checked about 30 of their edits on various articles, and about half of those simply copied unsourced dates and added them to the list. How does copying unsourced content from article to article improve Wikipedia? Magnolia677 (talk) 10:55, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Ok. I get your point. -- Alexf(talk) 19:33, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Should I take this to ANI or leave it with you? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:01, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
Good question. Better take it to ANI as I may not have the time this week to be in every day. -- Alexf(talk) 22:24, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

 Done - Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 17:57, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Dear Alexf,

My name is Oleksandr Kryvenko. I am a physician and professor of Pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. I created a page for Dr. Jonathan Epstein (Jonathanepstein) who trained me at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and gave me education which changed my entire life. Dr. Epstein is a world renowned professor and expert in prostate cancer. I do see that in WiKi's impression it was considered a blatant promotion. However, nothing of what was said was false and that is how we, his trainees, see him and his contribution to the medicine and humanity.

I would like to request to undelete this page to let me change it in line with WiKi's rules. I apologize for not doing it upfront as this is the first page I have ever created.

Thank you.

Oleksandr — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonathanepstein (talkcontribs) 01:58, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

You are going about this all wrong. You are impersonating someone else with your account's name. That is a very serious matter here and the main reason I would not restore that draft. You are using the same name as the subject. You have a conflict of interest here. Impersonation is wrong. Period.
Being a doctor or a university professor does not make someone notable per se.
Furthermore some minor points: this is not Wiki but a Wiki called Wikipedia. There is a difference. You have not started a new section (I had to do it for you). You have not signed your post in talk pages properly. I would suggest you start by reading about the concepts of notability and providing independent, verifiable sources. If you have any questions about Wikipedia, please ask at the Tea House. -- Alexf(talk) 02:24, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Possible VOA

Hi Alexf. I saw that you might be currently helping out at WP:ANV. I'm wondering if you'd might take a peek at MRMAN6754. Since this seems like a VOA, I was going to start a ANV discussion about the account; however, the editing seems infrequent enough to just be nothing more than someone who logs in every couple of months for some "hit-and-run" mischief. Do you think anything needs to be done here? -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:43, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Not enough activity or warnings. -- Alexf(talk) 18:09, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
I thought that might be the case. Thanks for taking a look. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:06, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Faizanun

This user [1] whom you blocked a month ago, has recently started in a rather bizarre manner spamming this picture [2] and changing the name of the woman each time to fit each respective article he has edited. Not to mention he is really determined to add (unsourced) information related to sexual intercourse in many of those articles. This is really weird. --HistoryofIran (talk) 20:11, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

Continued disruptive editing from IP 209.117.66.2

I'm posting here just to give you a heads-up about continued disruptive editing from IP 209.117.66.2. I see that you are the admin who blocked them back in 2018 due to persistent vandalism. I don't have rollback privileges so this revert was pretty annoying to do manually: [[3]] Would you recommend I take it to incidents or wait until further / more egregious disruption occurs? Thanks! Generalrelative (talk) 01:17, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

@Generalrelative: The proper procedure is to warn them, I see no recent warnings. If and when enough warnings have been issued (at least a level 3) and they continue, then report to AIV, not here. Also please add a link to the IP when you mention them (I fixed it). Makes it much easier to find them. -- Alexf(talk) 01:40, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Got it, thanks! Generalrelative (talk) 02:51, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Clarification of page deletion

Hi AlexF, Onel5969 referred me to you. You marked a page I did for speedy deletion and it was deleted: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Manitou1. The grounds for the deletion were per brackets [A tag has been placed on Aubrey Hruby requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.chase.com/digital/online-banking.]

The page was a bio page to a notable person. There was no mention, carried text, or resemblance to a Chase banking page. Please advise.

Thanks

@Manitou1: I have to apologize, That was done in error. The original poster made a mistake, and I did not properly check the link. My fault. The copyvio is against this page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/aubreyhruby/. I restored the page. I urge you to fix the issue or explain how is this not a copyvio before it has to be fixed or removed. Note that anything in LinkedIn must abide by the LinkedIn copyright indicated at the bottom of their website. Also note that if you are the subject. or have a connection to the subject, you must declare it. See declaring paid contributions. @AlexF: Thanks for that clarification. No problem. Appreciate the volume of work you have. Noted on LinkedIn. Also, noted your "declaring paid contributions" comment. There is nothing to disclose per those guidelines. Manitou1 (talk) 16:50, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Please do translate the deleted page Yash Dudhani

You have deleted page Yash Dudhani the page is present on wikipedia on (यश दुधानी) hindi and marathi language. iam unfortunately unable to translate in english because the lage is protected I request you please translate the page or remove from protected lock Technoto (talk) 09:33, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

The page (which you should always link to for ease of search, as I just did), has been recreated and deleted repeatedly. Read the notes on it. We cannot have articles that do not assert notability. You should know this already because you have received multiple notices about it. I do not read Hindi or Marathi so I can't translate for you. That would be your job. Note that the different language instances of Wikipedia are run independently. The rules for notability may be different there. In the English Wikipedia you have to abide by our local notability rules. Lastly, I am not the admin that protected that article. You should ask @Shirt58: about this. -- Alexf(talk) 11:49, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

Question: Why are you systematically removing links to these interviews? This has been discussed before, and other senior editors have praised the material, saying it is an asset to Wikipedia. Douglasburton (talk) 08:39, 15 December 2020 (UTC)Douglas Burton

please can I speak to you privately? I couldn't mail you — Preceding unsigned comment added by "Fluno gina" (talkcontribs) 12:18, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Yes you can email through the Wikipedia interface, but private (or email) discussions are not recommended, unless they are for private information that cannot/should not be inserted in the public internet. Everything in Wikipedia should be discussed in talk pages so people can follow, and contribute, to the discussion. Please say what you need to say, and please remember to sign your comments in talk pages by adding four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 15:38, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
