aromatherapy article
[edit]You wrote this:
- The country of manufacturing (frequently on the country it is possible to restore structure of oil, e.g. in batch of "Air essential oil, India" we expect high azaron contents, in Ukrainian samples of Air essential oil - little azaron contents).
What is Air essential oil? I wonder if this is the correct English, because I can't find any information about it. Please respond on my talk page. --Dforest 13:51, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Hi, it's my fault - Air (In Russian) - Acorus calamus. And I'm glad for you corrected and delited part of VERY CRITICAL opinions about AT. Today not all drugs are developed by criteria of evidentiary medicine, and e.g. in psychotherapy this claims are impossible - so in AT too. But many of other traditional drugs and methods are WORKED! (Alexandrov)
This is also related to the Aromatherapy article; I removed the article from the main Medicine and Alternative Medicine categories because it is already in the Aromatherapy category (which is under the previously mentioned categories). The logic I go by is thinking about a city, say London, England. It's under "London" and "Capitals in Europe", but not directly under "England" or "Great Britain," etc. Let me know what you think. --CDN99 15:29, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
Basic taste
[edit]Hi Betakate! You delite "Styptic" taste without any motivation. But you really can separate "Styptic" taste to other "Basic taste"? If no, propose recover it in article. If yes - said what components (in %) formed "Styptic" taste :-) Alexandrov 12:27, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Alexandrov. I removed the heading "Styptic" in Basic taste because it contained no information in that section (diff). It would be great if you have sourced information on styptic taste you can share for that article!. -betakate 13:30, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Perversion
[edit]Hi, Alexandrov.
I've answered your question on the perversion talk page. Всего лучшего. garik 11:14, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, - but You don`t remove all my doubts...
- One of my arguments = there are ho homosexuality in animals - most of examples for one is only hypersexuality of ones illustration. Alexandrov 14:42, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you mean by that last sentence. I understand Russian if that's any help - maybe you could explain what you mean in that. (I'm assuming your first language is Russian - apologies if not).
- As for homosexuality in non-human animals: Well, there are certainly many many example of homosexual behaviour in animals - see Animal sexuality. There is, of course, a big difference between homosexual behaviour and homosexuality as such. For the latter to exist, you have to have such a thing as sexuality, and it's far from clear whether or not we can talk meaningfully of animal sexuality as we can of human sexuality. Put simply, this means that if animals can be considered as heterosexual, then some of them can be considered as homosexual too. But it may be very inaccurate to call another animal either gay or straight. I've read evidence, however, that does suggest that some non-human animals prefer to mate with their own sex.
- But let's imagine that no other animal does it. So what? That doesn't make it unnatural in humans. Is compositional language unnatural? Is music unnatural? Is telling stories unnatural? Is walking about on our hind legs as standard unnatural?
- Sorry, but I think this talk of 'unnatural' is just very bad science and betrays a poor understanding of evolution.
- Hope that helps. garik 23:16, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
[edit]Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!
If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)
