Orphaned non-free media (Image:Krizis zhanra logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Krizis zhanra logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:23, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Paid Editing
[edit]Hi, Under Wikipedia Terms of Use, any editor who is paid to create content on Wikipedia must declare that they are being paid to create that content per WP:PAID and WP:DISCLOSURE, or risk being permanently blocked. Paid editors use the Wikipedia:Edit requests mechanism to request editor updates to the article. scope_creepTalk 19:45, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, hi, This is moderately presumptuous. There's no exchange of fees here. What's the Wiki guideline for frivolous and unsupported accusations? Asking for a friend. Alex shifrin (talk) 16:02, 10 May 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Alex shifrin: Dont know. Generally we need to check per WP Terms of Use, if the contributions give an indicate. There is no soft way of doing it. Indeed there is a whole of templates available, so I guess this is the softest way. Personally I don't mind paid editing, after all it did create Michelangelo's frescoes in the Sistine chapel, the Gutenberg bible, the Mona Lisa and other innumerable art works, in the world, but the consensus on here is that paid editing is a bad thing, and WP Terms of Use state that your must declare it. Generally if you do not declare and you create a whole bunch of content, it generally gets deleted after the person gets blocked. scope_creepTalk 09:43, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
Still editing
[edit]Hello Alex. This account's edit history is consistent with COI behavior, and the username suggests an association with an advertising agency. In order to maintain Wikipedia's integrity and independence, could you please follow WP:PSCOI? Regards, MrsSnoozyTurtle 00:46, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- With all due respect, this isn't what an advertising agency does. Wiki edits tend to organized by PR firms or publicists. We (ad agencies) make creative ads for things like TV. I'm president at an ad shop, and editing Wiki pages isn't what I would do there. It's just something that's fascinated me, so I've tried my hand at it. Obviously not very well given the dumpster fire that my efforts to create a few pages has netted. At first, it was rewarding to see this published. Now I'm wondering why bother when arguably cited content can get unilaterally yanked anytime without proper debate on it - AFTER it was published. Alex shifrin (talk) 02:02, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Could you please clarify: if you intend to keep editing, will you follow WP:PSCOI? Regards, MrsSnoozyTurtle 05:27, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, I will follow WP:PSCOI as per Wiki rules and address them as best as I can as outlined in the link provided. Alex shifrin (talk) 06:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, I am glad to hear that. All the best, MrsSnoozyTurtle 07:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Richard Crouse 2015.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Richard Crouse 2015.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 01:21, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Yeah hi there. That image was replaced by the current image on his profile page. Please feel free to delete. In fact, as I recall, I wasn't able to provide sufficient proof of copyright ownership at the time and I assumed that it had alraedy been deleted. - Alex
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Alex shifrin! While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 01:07, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for this info. I'll make sure to go back and rewrite the passage in question to reflect a factual (and cited) observation vs the verbatim text it is currently. Alex Alex shifrin (talk) 22:32, 29 November 2022 (UTC)
The article Center for International Private Enterprise has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Organisation doesn't meet WP:NORG
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. MrsSnoozyTurtle 08:51, 20 December 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, can you please explain why this page, which way fully cited by third party sources, was deleted? Alex shifrin (talk) 07:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Corrosive capital moved to draftspace
[edit]Please refer to log comments. MrsSnoozyTurtle 22:25, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, but this article is well cited with mainstream media sources. Please explain how this isn't suitable for Wiki publication? Also, please note that this article has already been approved and published. Alex shifrin (talk) 22:40, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Also, may I ask how I appear to have a close connection to this subject? I live in Toronto, Canada. I wrote an article about corrosive capital, a new political term that didn't seem to be up on Wiki yet. After writing about corrosive capital, I noticed that there was nothing about CIPE either. So I created a page. CIPE is based in Washington. I'm from Canada. ? Alex shifrin (talk) 22:44, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Finally, I would contest that the citations are routine coverage. They're not press releases or even announcements. They're anecdotal mentions in mainstream press articles. Alex shifrin (talk) 23:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm going to ask to resubmit this back to Wiki, although I'll have another run at the CIPE page. Alex shifrin (talk) 23:08, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've moved it out of draft. This doesn't require a 3+ month approval period. Please discuss in comments of article, which was reviewed and published already. Alex Alex shifrin (talk) 23:14, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Center for International Private Enterprise moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Center for International Private Enterprise, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. MrsSnoozyTurtle 22:28, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, thank you. I'll work on that this week and revert with better citations. Alex shifrin (talk) 22:39, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I've gone through this, and I've made a few minor changes. However, CIPE is an NGO of note: It's one of the 4 institutions that comprise the National Endowment for Democracy - and if you look at the NED Wiki page, you'll see all 4 (including CIPE) listed out. The only one of them which didn't have its own page was CIPE. So I created it. It's cross-referenced across Wiki, yet it didn't exist. I've returned it back to the page, which I will note, was already reviewed and published. Let's please discuss better citations on the page and not on a 3+ month waiting list draft space. Thanks. Alex Alex shifrin (talk) 23:30, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
