COi

[edit]

if you have an affiliation with Danielle Pletka, then you need to declare it. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 21:27, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Snooganssnoogans - I consulted the Conflict-of-interest_editing_on_Wikipedia page, and I have no COI as I'm not a friend, family, employee, or paid consultant of any kind related to Pletka. I just find this area of policy and people related to it interesting given current events. Aleaiactm (talk) 15:30, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You've been mentioned here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Danielle_Pletka Snooganssnoogans (talk) 17:12, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for being a promotion-only account with an unacknowledged conflict of interest.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bishonen | tålk 18:08, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For further explanation, I'm also copying here the post I just made at WP:COIN:

  • Aleaiactm, you have made 18 edits altogether, all concerned with the article Danielle Pletka. It's quite interesting to see you explain the principles of Wikipedia to an experienced editor like Snooganssnoogans (27,279 edits), who you believe (or say you believe) to be confused about them.[1] Moving to aggression, as you also do here, does not help your case or make your denials more credible. I have blocked you for obvious COI editing. Please note that you can appeal this block by following the instructions above. Bishonen | tålk 18:11, 3 March 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Request reason:

Hi, I began editing a few months ago as something that I've always wanted to do, but never had the opportunity to get around to because of life, career, and my kids. I wanted to complete a rather small edit of a page of someone who doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of public discourse. I wanted to finish that opportunity before I moved on to edit other pages. You can check my IP address, I don't believe I live anywhere near the subject matter in this case - I feel like I am being punished because I didn't randomly edit other articles first. That said, while I do not believe my tone was uncivil (I did not curse, use caps locks, attacks, etc), I acknowledge that I allowed my frustation to get the best of me, because I felt like I put work into something without having other editors tell me what their issue was specifically so a good faith talk page discussion could be had. My edits are not deletions - they are text with quality citations from mass market sources. If allowed back into Wikipedia, I look forward to editing other pages to show my lack of COI. Thank you for your time. Aleaiactm (talk) 6:39 pm, 3 March 2020, last Tuesday (2 days ago) (UTC+0)

Accept reason:

I've unblocked you but left a block for her article and talk page, but note that you are also banned from discussing her anywhere on Wikipedia as agreed below by you. Doug Weller talk 16:52, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'll leave your unblock request for an uninvolved admin to assess on its merits, but in the meantime, I have a suggestion for you. I'm a little surprised you consider this a "rather small edit", but we don't need to discuss your contributions at Danielle Pletka further. IMO you shouldn't edit it again in any case. You say you'd like to edit other pages, if I understand you. OK, I'll consider exchanging your total block for a partial one: a block from the article Danielle Pletka, on the assumption that you also won't add any puffery/bloat to any other biographies of living people, and won't add stuff about Pletka in other places. Would that be acceptable to you? (Note: I'm going to bed now — timezone thing — so I won't be back for a while. Take your time.) Bishonen | tålk 22:07, 3 March 2020 (UTC).[reply]
I think I considered it a small edit because I have a writing background, and by word count it didn't seem like a lot, but I understand that those things are relative, and Wikipedia has different norms. All that said, what you're proposing is reasonable to me, and I will stay away from the Pletka page or from writing about her. Aleaiactm (talk) 16:45, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
