Many thanks for reverting the vandalism to my user page. Best, Gwernol 19:32, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you!

Wow, within 20 minutes you blocked two vandals I was dealing with! Please accept these apples-- they're far more healthy than WikiCookies, and their fiber and Vitamin C will give you strength to keep on fighting vandals. Happy editing, Dar-Ape 19:56, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

why was the article deleted and page protected?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zeouspom (talkcontribs) .

  • Why did you restore this comment again? I'm not allowed to remove current comments f.E. warnings and so on, but I'm allowed to remove this bot comment on my talk page because this makes no sense, you see. Pooter-the-clown 08:57, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Why did you revert all 11/27 edits to scouting in oregon?

Who died an made you the the lord?

All edits were based on information provided by authorative sources. Your revert was based on your understanding of your opinion and therefore makes Wikipedia a useless effort.

Links to the authorative websites for the councils is appropriate. See Crater Lake link is allowed but Oregon Pacific, Cascade Pacific, Blue Mountain, etc are not? Oregon Council links are not allowed but California is?

Information by district corrections were removed? . . the correct information was updated from the authorive websites of the Councils. Do you not check the information before you delete or correct?

Again, the worth of a wiki is it's accuracy. . . by external validated resources. Each link was provided for your review. Take some time, get off the Code REd and, spend sometime reviewing the information.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.39.171.19 (talkcontribs) .

Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for catching the vandalism in the Langston Hughes article. Yes, I know you were just doing regular vandal patrol. Still, I am so very thankful for your diligence. The vandalism can be so discoraging to me. Again, thank you so very, very much.TonyCrew 19:09, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Daxini

I dont agree with ur view. Daxini is not as small and irrelevant as u say. Plus, it is not just another society. It is a large Marathi settlement outside Maharashtra with active links with many things Marathi all over the globe. If i have a say in this deletion process thing, i would like to oppose it.

let the 'community' discuss this. and advice me on how i can enter this discussion to voice my opinions.

thanks.

WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume I, Issue 3 - December 2006

Project News
  • Name change of cities in Karnataka: A straw poll was conducted on the proposal to change the name of cities in Karnataka, per the Nov 1, 2006 decision by the Karnataka government to rename them from the current anglicised forms. The result of the poll was to change the names. As controversial as the decision may be in the real world, the article Bangalore in Wikipedia still reflects the old name. You may be interested in knowing why. Dig the archives.
  • New Project Noticeboard (Shortcut:WP:INB): WikiProject India now sports a new colourful centralised noticeboard. An effort to make the noticeboard current and dynamic was mooted a few days back, and Ganeshk came up with the new format. The new noticeboard will strive to be the one-stop shop for all project related information. The shortcut is WP:INB.
  • Members List: The old members list is being phased out to give way for the new members list. New members are requested to add their names to the new members list. As the newsletter grows, further issues of the Project Newsletter will be delivered to those enlisted in the new list. So dash down now, to check if ur name is in there.

Note from Editor's Desk
  • Welcome to the December 2006 edition of our newsletter. Time flies past like matter into the black hole. It is interesting to notice that we are already into the last month for the year of 2006. 2006 saw discussions and development beyond realisation. In the world of Wikipedia where quality counts than quantity, we have come a long way. We've made better than 'nothing', to say the least, and even that is an achievement. I take this opportunity to thank everyone including those who have dotted the i's and crossed the t's.
  • As before, we'd like to stress, this is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know. Sponsored content for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. We'll be very happy to include them here.
  • Before we sign off, Advance New Year Wishes, everyone.

  • How to?: The "how to" part of assessment is very simple. Just head on to the talk page of any India related page and you'll find the {{WP India}} template. Simply classify the article based on the content and the criteria mentioned here. You can find the detailed instructions here. If you think it may qualify for GA/FA status, first consider submitting the article for peer review.

Vandalism

There are two users who are repeatedly putting in their names/ irrelevent material on some pages. These two are - (1) User:Sourav3ge and (2) User:Khudabaksh. The former is currently targetting the Bhatpara page. The latter is targetting Kalyani, West Bengal page. They are just enjoying the game. Is it possible to block them? -- P.K.Niyogi 16:31, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Welcoming new users

Hi there, Aksi!

I was not aware that that individual, despite their polemic name, was banned indefinitely. They may have come back to change their ways, but I'll try to avoid that, thank you for the heads-up. As for welcoming users who have made no contributions: I can see a point in such preëmptive hospitality, because I believe that, as well as being more welcoming, many people might not come to grips with how Wikipedia works and thus never legitimitely edit, also it might steer some away from nonsense edits and vandalism, knowing that there is someone (well, a group of people) there to assist them on how to make edits of some quality.

Hi! I did not open wikipedia today till late evening, and happened to notice the error. How long it's been in the main page? Anyway, to err is human :) Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:23, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Please do not revert the error reporting in the error reporting page. All discussions should be there. You can add that the error has been corrected now. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:26, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
oops! Sorry. But, this is not good. Because people may learn from earlier mistakes. Since this is not a talk page as such, talk page rules perhaps do not apply. But admins should take a look at this rule. IMO, no error report should be deleted. Anyway, no big deal :) Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:32, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
Have deleted the report :) --Dwaipayan (talk) 15:34, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Just started a thread in the discussion page of Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors on this policy of removing rectified reported errors. Please see. Again, I must say, it's not really a big deal. In fact it was the first time I visited this page. This struck as somewhat peculiar! Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:41, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

No Worries

It lets me off the hook, actually. I'm a bit of an Anarchist, and find elections in general to be a little repugnant (well, American ones anyway). I only started doing it because I felt it was my duty to (just like in real life). I'm glad you corrected it so swiftly - so many fripping words and statements and questions and candidates - sheesh! :) NinaEliza 07:39, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Have I understood it wrongly?

Have I understood it wrongly that a move is on to ban Baka for an year? Here it is?[[1]].

I opposed for banning Baka. swadhyayee 10:43, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. Where can I see Baka's arbitration? swadhyayee 11:09, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

I liked swadhyayee's reason "one should introspect". Should have used that against Hornplease when he was trolling on the workshop page. Nothing like some nice wholesome community consensus.Bakaman 01:26, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Please look carefully at the definition of trolling. Hornplease 09:53, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I just filed a sockpuppet report for the above accounts. One of the steps said to put a {{sockblock}} notice on the puppet's account page. I did so, but I am not an admin, so I did not actually block the account. So, I don't know if I was supposed to take that step, and I worry that others will think that the actual blocking was done. Could you do whatever is the correct thing in this case. Thanks. --BostonMA talk 00:13, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I reread the instructions, and apparently I added the sockblock tag inappropriately. Should be done by an admin after confirmation. Sorry. Could you take a look anyway? Thanks. Sincerely, --BostonMA talk 00:25, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Bad redirect

I created a redirect for New York Manumission Society and need to have it removed. I thought the page was "New-York Society for Promoting the Manumission of Slaves, and Protecting Such of Them as Have Been, or May be Liberated", which was it's original name, but I can't find it now. There might be a "the" in front of it, I really don't know now. Could you please remove it? I just didn't know what I was doing, and now the Wikipedia article doesn't come up in a google search. Thank you much. NinaEliza 16:41, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Yes! Does it need to be reversed, too? I'm sorry Aksi, I really need to read up on redirects. I don't know what I'm doing here, or what I did. NinaEliza 16:51, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, I guess my concern is that with the redirect, no one will find it because it's not the common name. It could be that it has no hits, I don't know. I'm trying not to be vain about the articles I create, but I think it creeps in a little. NinaEliza 16:59, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks so much, Aksi. I'm not good when I think I've made a mistake. I'm grateful beyond reason for the info.:)NinaEliza 17:15, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
