Cat:Pastafarians

[edit]

Hi, I removed {{User:Xaosflux/UBX/User religion flying spaghetti monster not really}} from Category:Pastafarian Wikipedians but am still listed there. Please correct this category (would do it myself, but don't know how) so it doesn't list users who have this template any more. Thanks. Malc82 07:59, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edits to this template, because it broke the userbox when used in conjunction with the Babel language box. If you want to edit it again, please try and make sure it doesn't break with these main boxes: see Wikipedia:Babel. Thanks. enochlau (talk) 15:29, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the deletion discussion for a previous version of this article? You haven't said, and I can't find it. Hut 8.5 10:56, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see. For content to be speedy deleted under G4 though it has to have been considered in a deletion discussion and deleted. Hut 8.5 11:09, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Declined speedy tag

[edit]

Regarding the page Jim Gallien, which you tagged for speedy deletion on the basis of CSD G1, I wanted you to know that I have removed the speedy deletion tag. This page does not qualify for speedy deletion because the article is not even close to the definition of patent nonsense, which requires "unsalvageably incoherent" content. If you still want the page to be deleted, please use the WP:AFD process. Thanks!--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 11:09, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why has this article been tagged to be wikified and what does that mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevin hipwell (talkcontribs) 00:23, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Basically we want every article to be of featured article quality, this has many properties, formatting, references, pictures to wikify means to write the article is a style consistant with this aim. The article needs more text and formatting fixing up. Aiden Fisher (talk) 00:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I only created it 8 seconds ago and it was tagged Kevin hipwell (talk) 00:30, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently checking new pages as they are created because of the vandalism levels at the moment. Tagging is just a way to make sure other people can find it to help improve it.Aiden Fisher (talk) 00:33, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My Apologies I thought the tag was a bad thing I'm still relatively new to being a wikipedian.Kevin hipwell (talk) 00:35, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That okay. Anytime you need help stop by and ask. Aiden Fisher (talk) 00:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will do Thanks! I appreciate your help. Kevin hipwell (talk) 00:53, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aiden - I've just removed your "mergeto" tag from Notable people from Dunedin - the article was only just split from the Dunedin article after a couple of discussions on splitting it out. The list is too long to be re-merged into that article; it was making the article both unwieldy and unbalanced. Note that many other cities have also split out their notable people into separate lists in the same way, and for much the same reasons. Grutness...wha? 01:04, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay that's fine. Aiden Fisher (talk) 01:05, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stochastic matrix

[edit]

Hello there, I noticed that you were going to check the example. I suggest you take a serious look at the initial version of the computation, which is quite detailed and easy to read in my opinion. It also contained information concerning how to calculate the appropriate moment generating functions, very useful I think, but which has been erased in the meantime.

The problem with the old page is, is only guaranteed convergent if , however later we see,
which assumes that t can equal 1. Aiden Fisher (talk) 23:47, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is a bit more subtle than that. Convergence is by matrix entries not by the entire matrix. Look carefully at the matrix
                 [ 2 2 2 ]

                 [ 2 2 2 ]

                 [ 4 %1 2 %1 2 %1 4 %1 z - 1]

                                                  3 2
                                           %1 := z  - z  - 2 z + 2

You will see that the matrix B is singular at z=1 at those positions where does not converge, for example when z=1. At the other entries we have convergence. -Zahlentheorie (talk) 21:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have been busy recently and havn't had much time to think about this much, in the article has a one in the element (5,5) so convergence does not occur in this element if . Also is not invertable at . As no domain stretching exercise is preformed mearly substituting values a values and obtaing a result independent from does not mean that is in the function's domain. Technical definition

[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up technical definition. What should I do before the unreferenced tag can be removed? (the reference I included is the only one used) Stratsve (talk) 05:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you can find more refences is always good, however if the entire article is referenced from "Technical Communication Tody" then there is sufficant referencing. I have wikified the article (see Wikipedia:Manual of style for the technical definition). Aiden Fisher (talk) 06:06, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Proposed deletion of Hanging day

[edit]

The article Hanging day has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No reliable sources of information found; suspected original research

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 12:16, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Hanging day, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hanging day. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Invitation to Adelaide Wikipedia Users Group meetings

[edit]

Hi, in case you're not already aware of it, a group of Adelaide Wikipedians has been meeting on a monthly basis since April, with the aim of improving the scope and quality of articles on South Australian topics. We meet at UniSA's City West campus, and our 23 July meeting will have a guest speaker from the National Trust of SA.

This coming Sunday, 6 July, we will be holding our first Edit-a-thon. This will be an opportunity for new editors to come and learn either basic or more advanced editing from very experienced wikipedians, so if you know anyone who would like to get some practice, please let them know - and beginners will be very welcome. Cheers, Bahudhara (talk) 04:08, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
