hi
[edit]Just to say "hi" and that I'm watching the outcome of your project with interest. I ran a similar project a year or so ago. Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions. --jbmurray (talk • contribs) 07:14, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Actually, you are my inspiration! I was amazed with your project. I showed my students some examples like the Vargas Llosa´s wonderful article. My project is a one month assignment. Hopefully next semester, I can work more time in something similar. Thank you for writing! --Aestrella (talk) 01:20, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
- Grand, I'll be looking in and will try to offer any help or suggestions. I see you've already had some problems with starting the article on Delirium, not least because other editors have tried to delete it. Don't let that get you down! These things happen here. --08:54, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Delirium (novel)
[edit]Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Apology
[edit]Dear Aestrella, I would like to formally apologize for the misunderstanding over the article Delirium (novel). I did not recognize User: Stroppolo's edits as a test, nor did I see the Criteria for Speedy Deletion tag. Very sorry. I also striked out the warning template on your talk page. Project Question
[edit]On the top of the article about Horacio Quiroga it requests that it be enhanced with information translated from the spanish article. Can I translate this article and use most of that information? That article is much more in-depth. Obviously it doesn't translate perfectly so I would have to edit it, but it has a lot more information than I was able to find in English websites, which are mostly all a reprint of an article from litweb.com. Verbafelix (talk) 21:49, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I think you can do that. If you have problems with the translation, just let me know. --Aestrella (talk) 22:57, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm wondering if you have a better translation: "Horacio fue bautizado recién unos 3 meses después en la parroquia de su Salto natal." They translated it as: "Horace was baptized just about 3 months later in the parish of his birth jump." Specifically that part about "birth jump" Verbafelix (talk) 04:13, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- "Horacio was baptized 3 months after that in his birth town, Salto".I am editing a little bit the Spanish article, because it has some grammar issues, and, at times it is very awkward.--Aestrella (talk) 03:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Translated as: For his part, subsequently, Horacio Quiroga served as the eastern sometimes, and sometimes as an Argentine, as his birthplace on one side and his paternal origin is permitted. Verbafelix (talk) 04:28, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- "During his life, Quiroga acted sometimes as an Uruguayan, and other as an Argentinean. This was not difficult because he had been born in Uruguay and his father's nationality was Argentinean".
- Please edit this part. I do not know how to reword it in English. Ideally, Uruguayan and Argentinean should not be repeated twice.--Aestrella (talk) 03:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
More translation problems
The brand-laws Quiroga, concerned about the risks of wildlife, following the marriage and moved to Mission with her daughter and son. Así, pues, el padre de Ana María, su madre y una amiga de esta, se instalaron en una casa cercana a la vivienda del matrimonio Quiroga. So, the father of Anna Maria, his mother and a friend of this, they moved into a house near the home of marriage Quiroga."
Thanks,Verbafelix (talk) 21:46, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- Quiroga's parents-in-law were concerned about the risks of living in Misiones,a wild region, and that is why they decided to join their daughter and son-in-law, and live close by in order to help them. So, Ana Maria's parents and a friend of her mother, moved into a house near the Quiroga's.
Also, this whole section: Severo y dictatorial, exigía que cada pequeño detalle estuviese hecho según sus exigencias. Stern and dictatorial, demanding that every little detail was done according to your requirements. Very little ones accustomed to the mountains and jungle, often exposing them to risk-measuring-always the danger, for they were able to cope alone and to leave any situation. He was able to be left alone in the jungle at night or using them to sit on the edge of a cliff with his legs dangling in the void.
- Stern and dictatorial, Quiroga demanded that every little detail was done according to his requirements. From a young age, his children got used to the mountains and jungle. Quiroga exposed them to danger (risk free danger) so that they would be able to cope alone and overcome any situation. He even went as far as to leave them alone one night in the jungle, or to make them sit on the edge of a cliff with their legs dangling in the void.
- Quiroga's children never refused to be part of these experiences and, actually, enjoyed them. Their mother, however, was terrified and exasperated. The daughter learned to breed wild animals and the son to use the shotgun, ride a bike and sail alone in a canoe.
Thank you very much,Verbafelix (talk) 22:02, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
