[edit]Hey, I noticed that you applied CSD A1 (no context) to Europartenariat. That article doesn't fall under a1. It doesn't fall under g(11?), copyvio either, because they are quoting something, it's not a direct rip. I have applied A7-org (unremarkable company or organization) and that's the best one for this article. You might want to read up on WP:CSD, and perhaps start using WP:TW, which is a tool that helps you tag pages more easily.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. Cheers, -Zeus-u|c 21:00, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I thought that the A1 could be applied to Europartenariat as the article doesn't clearly explain the context of the content. Thanks for the advice, I'm new to patrolling articles. &dorno rocks. (talk) 21:02, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- You might be able to push it under A1 but A7 makes much more sense and will make it easier on the admin. -Zeus-u|c 21:08, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I've enabled Twinkle and bypassed my cache. Would you be able to tell me how I "activate" it when editing articles ? &dorno rocks. (talk) 21:10, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- When you're on an article "read" tab (not edit) you should see a small arrow pointing down at the top right (directly to the right of the watch button, the star). Hover on that and a dropdown will come down - XFD (X for deletion), CSD (Criteria for Speedy Deletion), Move, Welcome, Warn, ARV (Report users to admin), and other cool stuff. When you click on one a new window will open over the browser where you can pick which csd tag to use, etc. Use the warn on user pages for stuff like removing speedy templates, stuff like that. -Zeus-u|c 21:37, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 13:55, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Schools and A7
[edit]I removed the {{csd-a7}} tag that you added to Tavistock College because schools can't be speedily deleted under A7. Generally speaking, secondary schools are always considered notable, even if the article about a particular secondary school is quite short. Eastmain (talk • contribs) 13:40, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks - I've read the specifications of A7, and it seems that all schools are automatically exempt. &dorno rocks. (talk) 13:45, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
- Many school articles start off fairly weak. If you notice one while doing new pages patrol, you may be able to improve it by doing a quick Google News archive search for references and scanning the article for spelling and capitalization errors. [edit]I have restored this to mainspace and lifted the protection. I have added it to my watchlist to keep an eye out for vandalism. I have not undeleted the history as this did not form any part of the creation of the page and there are attacks in it. Spartaz Humbug! 05:01, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. I think the page was simply vandalised because it was requested and ended up on the top of Recent Changes. &dorno rocks. (talk) 17:42, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi there. You proposed this article for deletion using the WP:BLPPROD process. I have contested the deletion, as I found this source which I believe is acceptable:[1]. If you still feel the article should be deleted, feel free to take it to AFD. Robofish (talk) 21:37, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- As she's received attention in a national newspaper, I'm pretty confident that she meets notability guidelines. No need to take it further. Thanks. &dorno rocks. (talk) 16:58, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
As I see it , his is an entirely different article from Demographics of India. Whether it might be overgeneralized and under-documented is another matter; whether this is the best title seem more than a little dubious. I don;t know the history of the article or the people involved, but whatever the problem is, I don;t really think its the best way to try to solve it at Speedy. DGG ( talk ) 00:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- The problem is that, as you will see from reading South Asian ethnic groups, there is no such ethnic group as "East Indian people". It is a broad generalisation which is both culturally and scientifically meaningless. As you have removed the tag, I will take this to AFD, but I seriously doubt that there will be anything other than a general consensus to delete. &dorno rocks. (talk) 13:25, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
CSD-A9
[edit]Hi Adorno Rocks. I have rejected your speedy deletion request regarding Concrete Jungle (Nneka album) as it does not meet {{csd-a9}}. This criteria only applies to articles on albums recorded by artists who do not have their own article, which Nneka (singer) does. The album may still fail to meet the General notability guideline|general notability guideline, but that should be established through either a WP:PROD or a listing at WP:AFD. I apologise for the rather arcane nature of the CSD process, it catches us all out sometimes. Let me know if you ever have any questions. Best wishes, Rje (talk) 13:55, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought it was for any non-notable recordings. Thanks for the message. &dorno rocks. (talk) 15:28, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
朝陽區 (and 朝阳区)
[edit]I understand your concern that this is a potential duplicate, but the Chinese for the Chaoyang District of Shantou, Guangdong has 潮 as the first character. therefore, it is NOT the same. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 16:50, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh if you haven't noticed, both mean the same (the latter is traditional Chinese; former is simplified)
- It's not Wikipedia policy to create duplicate disambiguation pages using different character systems. In all articles about China, it is conventional to use the Roman transliteration of the name, and sort the articles according to this, not the original Chinese characters used. Hence speedy deletion. &dorno rocks. (talk) 17:02, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- It is Wikipedia policy to allow Chinese-capable users to type in the Chinese character representation of places that actively use Chinese (meaning Singapore and Malaysia as well). Thus a disambiguation needs to be created for those users. Hence keep. Now if you were not oblivious enough, you would have noticed the difference in Shantou's Chaoyang District -___- 华钢琴49 (TALK) 17:09, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Can you provide me with any examples of English Wikipedia pages with Chinese character titles ? Chinese-capable users can use the Chinese-language wikipedia. Your disambiguation pages have been deleted by NawlinWiki, who presumably agrees with me. If you want to take the issue further, talk to him. &dorno rocks. (talk) 17:23, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- I meant that Wikipedia allows re-directs from Chinese character queries. Try putting '北京市' in the search box on English WIKI to see what I mean. Cut it out with your idiocy and go to Chaoyang District, Shantou; the characters are not the same. Two voices of consent does not equal automatic delete. The difference of one link and one character is significant enough for the new page. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 17:28, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- Firstly, there's a big difference between creating a duplicate of a page and creating a redirect. If you had created redirects in the first place, it would have been much less controversial. My concern with creating a redirect from 朝阳区 or 朝陽區, is that, unlike 北京市, it would be very rarely (if ever) used, and thus would not be suitable. If a user did happen type in the Chinese characters, they would find the relevant English language pages very quickly through Search. I'd advise you to talk to NawlinWiki about this. &dorno rocks. (talk) 17:35, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

- ok. that's more valid, but Chaoyang District, Shantou is 潮阳区/潮陽區. A re-direct from 朝阳区 or 朝陽區 would mislead the user into thinking that Shantou's Chaoyang has the same representation. yes, they could easily find it from the search, but I believe that's more work. no response from NawlinWiki yet, as of 17:40 UTC, so I appreciate your rapid replies. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 17:42, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- OK with me to post redirects (and I have no opinion on the spelling of the redirects), not duplicate articles. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:45, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- read the above discussion and you will learn that it's not entirely a duplicate. obviously the spelling of re-directs matters. you do not want to be creating utter BS.
- The difference between 潮阳区/潮陽區 and 朝阳区/朝陽區 is not relevant, because in the English-language Wikipedia Chinese-language names are classified by the pinyin romanization, which in both cases is Cháoyáng Qū. &dorno rocks. (talk) 18:14, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- ok. I looked back and I realised I created two disambiguation pages under similar circumstances. I am referring to 東方紅/东方红, which literally means 'The East is Red'. However, when typing in those words in the search box, you are directed to a disambiguation page that only lists those articles with those exact words in their titles; i.e. 'Dong Fang Hong' is at a space program, but has the same Chinese representation. A movie is listed under the 'East is Red' disambiguation page, but if you read the article, it is an abbreviation for the full Chinese title. Hence why 東方紅/东方红 were not listed for deletion, though they are far more notable than any of the Chaoyangs. This is just to provide a nearly parallel example. my reasoning remains the same. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 19:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- I don't understand how this disambiguation is a parallel. It lists China-related articles with the same name in English, under and English title. The problem was that your disambiguation pages duplicated another dismabiguation page with similar content, but under a Chinese-letter title. &dorno rocks. (talk) 19:46, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- look at 东方红 and The East is Red. again, similar, but not exactly the same, content, but different languages. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 21:38, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've flagged that article for speedy deletion for exactly the same reasons. &dorno rocks. (talk) 21:41, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

东方红
[edit]again, way to be a complete pain. it and 'The East is Red' are clearly NOT mirrors of each other. deletion of a page after discussion amongst only two or three users is not a good precedent. I will re-instate both this page and 朝阳区 (and its traditional equivalent). Learn Chinese before wildly calling a page a duplicate. 华钢琴49 (TALK) 00:59, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- This page was deleted as a duplicate, for the reasons I have detailed above (Wikipedia articles on China are titled based on their Pinyin). If you want to take this any further, do not recreate the page. Take this to WP:Deletion Review, where you will be able to justify your creation of the article, and if the relevant admin. thinks your arguments are reasonable, they may be undeleted. &dorno rocks. I have declined your speedy because, though it certainly smells extremely fishy, I don't think it is quite blatant enough for G3 - let the AfD take care of it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 06:24, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Grab some glory, and a barnstar
[edit]Hi, I'd like to invite you to participate in the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. In May, about 30 editors helped remove the {{copyedit}} tag from 1175 articles. The backlog is still over 7500 articles, and extends back to the beginning of 2008! We really need your help to reduce it. Copyediting just a couple articles can qualify you for a barnstar. Serious copyeditors can win prestigious and exclusive rewards. See the event page for more information. And thanks for your consideration. ɳorɑfʈ Talk! 14:35, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
The article Kay S. Hymowitz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- does not appear to meet WP:N] - was created by a sock puppet who is blocked; was speedied by another account which is also blocked and the speedy was improperly removed by the creator of the account
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Active Banana (bananaphone 20:54, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
