December 2011
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Archana joglekar has been reverted.
Your edit here to Archana joglekar was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://odiacinemaworld.blogspot.com/2010/08/archana-joglekar-in-odia-oriya-cinema.html) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest
Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.
As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.
If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.
You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

DYK for Abbas Kazmi
On 17 March 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Abbas Kazmi, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Abbas Kazmi was asked, by a United States diplomat, to construct a brainwashing defense for Ajmal Kasab, the gunman who was tried for the 2008 Mumbai attacks? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Abbas Kazmi. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Tag & Assess suggestion
Hi! Thanks for joining the drive. Good work going on. I guess you are doing assessment manually without any software like AWB. In that case i would like to suggest that you should do wider assessment. For example Talk:Bhimsen Joshi and Talk:Kumar Gandharva had their singing career in Marathi songs and hence you can add Maharashtra=yes just at the same time you are filling up other fields. Also you can help other WikiProjects at the same time while assessing. Example by adding WikiProject Music to these two. Enjoy! -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 09:54, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, I would follow that. Thanks!! --sarvajna (talk) 10:34, 17 March 2012 (UTC)

Bikram Singh (General)
I have reverted your edit at Bikram Singh (General). You omitted a space between the preceding sentence and the one that you added and you also breached WP:REFPUNCT. But worse by far, you cited a source that says absolutely nothing to support the statement that you added - effectively, a fake reference. This is worrying: am I going to have to check all of your citations or can we assume that it is some sort of one-off? - Sitush (talk) 07:36, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Review of Solstice at Panipat, 14 January 1761 for those who need it
Though the defeat at Panipat rankles the Marathi mind, it doesn't shrink from its analysis from various aspects. A lot has been written about the III battle of Panipat from various angles, in both English and Marathi, yet Uday Kulkarni in his "Solstice..." has attempted to take a close look at it. Why Panipat III was fought and the bravery of the Marathas who fought it, the situation in India in the year or two before the war has been dealt by Kulkarni in depth and detail. Bhausahebanchi Bakhar, Shrimanta Bhausahebanchi Kaifiyat, the autobiography of Nana Phadanvis, Kashiraj's narrative and other historical references have been used to create a gripping, detailed and wide ranging account of the battle between the Marathas and Abdali.
According to the author the Battle was fought between the Marathas and Afghans for supremacy over India. Abdali desired to annexe the country north of the Chambal to Afghanistan, wheras the Marathas wished to retain their supremacy upto Attock. Abdali won a phyrric victory, he had attacked and looted India six times before Panipat, however the "victory" in Panipat III broke the Afghans, and they could never "look" at Delhi after that. "Hindustan" (northern India) would have been a part of Pakistan but for "Panipat III".
The often repeated truth that had the Peshwa's succeeded in breaking Abdali's siege in aid of Bhau, would have ensured a different result and a changed destiny for India, is emphasised by this book. This book explains how the Marathas were unable to match the Afghans in troop movements, tactics, logistics, which they were unable to overcome by their bravery. The differences of opinion between the Holkars and Ibrahim Khan Gardi, those between Shinde and Holkar, their tactics of not committing all to the battles, their habits of being satisfied by monetary gains, the enemies that the Marathas created in the north as a result, all of which contributed to the Maratha defeat is demonstrated by the author using historical events. The cunning of Nagib Khan Rohilla and double crossing Shuja-ud- daullah and their influence on the battle and its effect are understood by the readers.
The book contains no inventions and discoveries (no revisionism as claimed by Sitush and Fowler&fowler, perhaps the person who read it to them in their dreams added his own stuff), yet the reader gets the satisfaction of a different reading experience. This book is especially useful to a non-Marathi reader, it provides various related details at one place. The foreword written by history scholar Ninad Bedekar (sorry the reviewer disagrees with Fowler&fowler's description of Bedekar), pictures and maps add to the book's value.--sarvajna (talk) 20:11, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

- I am not surprised at all, I guess this is the first time you have come across Fowler's style of editing and commenting.--sarvajna (talk) 13:40, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- What are your views on this removal of content? - a highly acclaimed illustrated book with text 'India Unveiled', probably the only book ever published in the Western world to have been officially recognized by a Prime Minister of India, a book written by Robert Arnett categorized as "Hindu nationalist garbage" (without any discussion)? wow? This is by the way backed by another book "The Role of Native Culture and Language" according to which, Will Durant says, "India is the Motherland of our race and Sanskrit the mother of Europe's languages." So I don't think it's entirely baseless, yet it was reverted.

- In the article Caste in one of his edit summaries (check the edit) he wrote, "I'm sorry India remains "the" paradigmatic example" of caste system presumably.
He also writes in Talk:India that "Caste, the social inequality deeply embedded in Hinduism now for over two thousand years, is the burden of Hinduism alone".
Is he not the classic definition of anti-Hindu, anti-India or what? Check his contributions and you will hopefully see that there is something disingenuous. This fowler&fowler is behaving awkwardly, to say the least. See this discussion for more knowledge about the mode of thinking of this editor. He has experience and that gives him a certain amount of leverage but that leverage is being purely abused, I think.
He is unnecessarily brusque. Mrt3366 (Talk page?) (New section?) 06:32, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot, I hope, infact I am sure that the disagreement would be taken in good spirit. Thanks again --sarvajna (talk) 16:06, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- I only disagreed with the removal of that slogan part but however, I went through a number of similar articles and now do agree with the removal. TheSpecialUser TSU 16:09, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- I have made few more changes like renaming Atrocities against females to Atrocities against women. I feel the latter one makes sense. --sarvajna (talk) 16:12, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know about Naroda article, but you, my dear, sure deserve a barnstar for the originality you have displayed through your editing. Mrt3366(Talk?) (New thread?) 14:10, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Darling Darling(Hindi Movie).jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Darling Darling(Hindi Movie).jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:04, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
Still Orissa
As you might know, Odisha still remains Orissa in wikipedia per WP:UCN and WP:ON. The name change is now more than a year old. I do not know if the change is reflected widely in general life, such as newspapers, books etc. If mainstream media and books have started using the new spelling widely, then it might be almost time to propose change of the name of the article in wikipedia. You can ask some Odhiya editors regarding the use of the new spelling in general life. And then, the name change can once again be proposed. One such editor may be User:Psubhashish.--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:33, 1 October 2012 (UTC)
- Not sure about the books because we will have to search for books published after 2011 however I see Odisha in the newspapers, you can also search in google news Odisha gives you proper news results relating to the state of Odisha and orissa still gives you some results but most of them are related to some organisations/companies/high court. I will inform User:Psubhashish about my thoughts. Thanks -sarvajna (talk) 06:28, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hey Dwaipayan and Ratnakar, Thanks for considering my suggestion on this topic. For most of us it is really irritating how people argue to keep a name based on stupid logics. We had a lot of discussions regarding the same thing. I myself got involved in the whole argument and finally felt like wasting time and wasting other's time as well. You guys want to comment what need to be done in the current context of the google search? --SubhaUtter2me! 12:54, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Help in Kannada
Could you find some sources from Kannada media on the subject discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sri Siddhartha Medical College? A 24 year old Medical college should have been covered some or the other where. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 04:03, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, I will try to find it in the evening/night. Currently at my work. --sarvajna (talk) 12:43, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- AfD is now closed as Keep. So no rush now. Please add those refs appropriately in the article when you get time. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 03:36, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Modi
Hi, aware as I am of WP:BLP, I also know that the marriage thing for Modi has been flagged by other sources, including the BBC. I've temporarily reverted you pending a review of the discussion you refer to in your edit summary. Can you find it? - ????
- These are the links for the discussion [1] and [2] . I will be giving an elaborate later as I am at my work place now but I am surprised with your edit summary somewhere I have seen you lecturing against removing the refs to another editor. --sarvajna (talk) 11:37, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the diffs, which I'll look at later, Yes, indeed I had a discussion about removing sources with OrangesRyellow on their talk page. That was not about citations but rather what to do with a useful source when a cite no longer has any relevance to a statement. In this case, you removed the statement entirely and so the sources are by definition not relevant. Oranges was removing self-admittedly useful sources completely rather than just amending the statements to fit what the sources said. I suggested that if they were obviously of merit then they should go in further reading or external links. Please note that these were books rather than news stories, which are slightly more awkward to deal with. - Sitush (talk) 15:18, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've not explained that very well. Off out but will try again later if you still cannot make sense of the discussion at Oranges' page. - Sitush (talk) 15:34, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- I got your point about removal of refs, awaiting your reply on Modi's wife's issue. --sarvajna (talk) 15:42, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

January 2013
Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give 2012 Delhi gang rape case a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Made Some Changes To Make Page Neutral
Hey I made some changes to make the page more neutral and to depoliticize it. I agree with you that the bricks part should have been taken out because it didn't belong there. As for the riots, my critique was that there was too much stuff on the recent stuff and not enough on the earlier stuff. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lowkeyvision (talk • contribs) 23:27, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- I am sorry to say that you have not put a neutral picture but a biased one, Controversies need to be part of the article unless there is any seperate article, the length that these Controversies take is too small for a seperate article, you seem to earse sentence that mentions MIM party by liberally use Hindu Extremist. I will put back the Controversies and see for other things. --sarvajna (talk) 08:34, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
