Re email
[edit]Hello, as a matter of policy I don't communicate by email about nonprivate Wikipedia matters. To respond to you, I think your word choice is confusing other Wikipedia users. Wikipedia is not for merely posting "definitions" of anything. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that has articles about subjects shown with independent reliable sources to meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability. For businesses, that special definition is described at WP:ORG(click that to review). Any business that is written about on Wikipedia must meet the criteria written there in order for an article about it to be permitted. New businesses usually have a hard time meeting the criteria, as they have not yet been significantly written about by independent sources that have chosen on their own to write about it. Wikipedia cannot be used to spread the word about a business, the business must already be widely known to merit an article here.
You also have what we call a conflict of interest if you want to write about your own business. Writing about something that you have a conflict of interest in is highly discouraged on Wikipedia. You should review the conflict of interest policy and the paid editing policy to learn more about this. As I stated above, Wikipedia is interested in what independent sources state, sources unrelated to the subject. Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself. If you just want to tell the world about your business, you should use social media like Facebook or your chosen social media platform. I'm sorry that this is likely not good to hear, but I need to be honest. If you want to be a Wikipedia contributor and edit about subjects unrelated to your business, feel free to use the new user tutorial to learn more about Wikipedia. 331dot (talk) 01:16, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
