[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 08:39, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Sumanuil.
- Thanks for your notification. as you point point out I am new to editing Wikipedia and may have misunderstood what was acceptable.
- I am reading through the Manual of Style and the welcome page to see what 'deviations from the style' that I may have made when editing Irish Cave Rescue Organisation.
- It should be noted that the existing Pre-November 2024) Wikipedia entry for Irish Cave Rescue Organisation has many inaccuracies and is heavily reliant on journalistic sources which in many cases are inaccurate. It is also unclear who the original authors and contributors to the page are and whether or not they had a good understanding of the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation.
- As an ICRO Warden , I am working in consultation with the ICRO Comittee to suggest edits to the page so as it is a more accurate portrayal of ICRO.
- We will revert as soon as possible and suggest edits again inline with the Manual of Style
- Kind regards

Hello, AdeEyto. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 05:25, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
- HelloSumanuil.
- I have attempted to delcaire my COI as indicated in the Guidelines. It is quite an involved process and I am not familiar with coding so I hope I have followed the guidelines correctly.
- NOTE: That I am a volunteer Warden with the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, I do not receive any payment for my work.
- Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, is a Voluntary Search and Rescue Organisation and only seeks to have an accurate (and peer reviewed) representation on Wikipedia to avoid confusion for readers , state agencies and members of the public.
- As I understand it someone has to review my COI deceleration and I need to flag the COI when suggesting edits on Irish Cave Rescue Organisation and its associated Talk page?
- I have done this now for a few minor edits.
- If this is acceptable I will continue to suggest further edits and additions as per the guidelines.
- Thanks again
