Martha Gellhorn & Spanish Civil War
[edit]Greetings Actoreng1. Thank you for your comment on my talk page. I understand what you mean, but the paragraph in question refers - or did, until I modified it - to foreign/war correspondents, among whom Gellhorn was a major figure, regardless of her "fame" in comparison to the other famous people mentioned. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia's aim is to inform, not to provide "sexy" tidbits of information. Cheers!--Technopat (talk) 17:22, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
"Bias" deletions
[edit]I'm not sure what to make of your repeated deletions of material under the assertion of "bias", since you seem to leave any praise alone and don't give any reasons why you're removing some sourced material but leave others intact.
What it boils down to is that properly cited criticism and praise from notable public figures is not "bias" - it is in fact encyclopedic. Perceptions of people, groups, ideas, etc. is an important to describing something's place in the world. What matters is that these opinions are not given undue weight when compared to other criticisms or praisings.
I suggest you review Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and please give greater detail than "bias" in your edit summaries (or on the article talk pages!), so we can understand why you think something isn't worthy of inclusion. --Xanzzibar (talk) 13:29, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Your feelings on the bias would probably be best discussed on the articles' talk pages, since you'll get wider feedback there, and others who had an issue with your deletions will be able to discuss it with you. I'm not well enough acquainted with the topic matter vis-a-vis the war article to properly evaluate it, but as for Hitchens's views...
The guy's a vitriolic windbag, but that's why he's a "polemecist". Ultimately, it's not really relevant if he argues like a four year old. What does matter is that he's one of the top three or four (depending if you're looking at the Unholy Trinity or the Four Horsemen) atheistic figureheads in the world, and as such, his clashes with other religious and pseudo-religious groups and figures are high profile and very notable. --Xanzzibar (talk) 13:29, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Template messages/File namespace
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Template messages/File namespace. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 14:25, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
