1/10
I saw your talk page post and agree with you, and also strongly disagree that he should be an instructor. Once he replies on his talk page I would like to move ebike to an experienced instructor, and maybe even have him become a trainee. Dan653 (talk) 19:48, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- The hope is that s/he's enthusiastic and wants to help. But there's always the chance (that I'd never assume) that s/he's only hat collecting. We'll see which it is when/if s/he replies. Achowat (talk) 19:51, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- Electric's comments:The 1/10 situtation is an issue that I saw when I wanted to become an instructor. He obviously has no clue about vandalism and I think that you guys should make the decision to drop him... One of the minimum standards should be having rollback. All of the students have rollback when they graduate, and so an instructor definitely should. Think of it like a teacher who didn't graduate from high school. Thanks, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:35, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- He also removed 1/10 from the instructors list, so I'll deal with alerting the people involved. Dan653 (talk) 21:41, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Status Page
Does student slots available mean how many students you can take or how many you are wiling to take plus the current amount of students? 'Cause if it's the former I think all the instructors are doing it wrong. Dan653 (talk) 20:42, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know what the original intention was, but when I put "2" I meant that I could take on, conceivably, 2 students at a time. Thinking back now, I guess I made the table to begin with, so Yes. I meant it to be the total number that an Instructor felt comfortable with. Achowat (talk) 05:38, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

Another Problem
Irish seems dead to this wiki and his student hasn't had any interaction with him. How do you want to proceed, should we re-add his student to the enroll page? Dan653 (talk) 20:05, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm gonna let darth know that we're looking into the problem. Dan653 (talk) 20:07, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, so do we have a list of all the Approved Enrollees who are underserved, either because their instructor has melted or otherwise? How big of a problem do we have? Achowat (talk) 20:14, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- No, I was just going to add him to the top of the enroll list, so the first instructor that becomes open can take him. Surpisingly, to me at least, we have a dirth of instructors who can take students. (Most of us are college/high school people, like me, so finals are causing strain on the system). Dan653 (talk) 20:20, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- I actually want an answer; how many are unassigned? Could you look at who has fallen through the cracks in the last 4 days and make sure all of them are assigned or on the Enrollment page. Achowat (talk) 20:24, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Darth fell through the cracks, Katana hasn't responded to anything yet (though Dip is willing to take katana, see kats talk page), and we need to get Goofy assigned. In answer to your question 3. When you started this venture did you think it would be this much work? Dan653 (talk) 20:45, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, so three. That's more managable. As for the workload: no, not even a little, but it's good. It's proof that this is serving as a useful tool for people. We should try to find more instructors (many hands make light work), perhaps a thread at WT:CVUA should be next. Achowat (talk) 20:50, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, me neither. Definite proof :) As to finding instructors one more would be good, (have you thought about asking benz)? Me and electric will be able to take another student each 6/14 and 6/18 respectivly (exams will be over). Dan653 (talk) 20:56, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- How to find instructors, though. WP:PERM gives us a good in to students, but how on Earth do we find experienced anti-vandals with free time? Achowat (talk) 20:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
- Honestly, we have never really found any instructors. They have either found us or they graduate and become instructors, so... we...
NEED MORE GRADUATES!!! lol jk :P (somewhat serious };) Dan653 (talk) 21:03, 12 June 2012 (UTC) Not really at all, ;) or maybe???- (talk page stalker) Butting in here, with some notes... I can take more students, if that's what's needed... I've got two right now - but somewhat annoyingly, my first, TruPepitoM, is only available on Fridays - argh! My second, Mr. Wikipediania, won't be available until July. So tell me what I can do. Here in the South, we got out way back in May - so I've got time... just let me know. Hi, in regard to finding new instructors. One good place is stalking the recent changes. People who manage to beat you rollbacking (apart from ClueBot!) can be offered an if they have spare time, hopefully join? --Chip123456 (talk) 15:55, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- And we have a Template ({{Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit/Academy/Invite-instructor}} that RC Patrollers should be dropping on anyone they think is worth the invite. Achowat (talk) 15:56, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Really Theo??? That's great why don't you contact goofy. Dan653 (talk) 16:01, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Am I right in assuming KatanaGod has never been approached by an Instructor? I would be happy to take hir (My student now seems to have taken a bit of a break). That will solve the immediate problem, but we should use the discussion at WT:CVUA to discuss the Bigger issues at hand. Achowat (talk) 16:05, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Katana has been contacted, has not responded, and has been moved to inactive. Also the Irish issue might have been solved as Darth seems to be inactive too. Dan653 (talk) 16:13, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Katana was just given Rollback. Might it make more sense to let hir know that The Academy is designed to teach new users the basics, and it might be easier/better for hir to just ask a question at WP:CVUAQ if s/he has any? Achowat (talk) 16:15, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- While that is true we have taken students who have 3000 edits and rollback, so we'll cross that bridge if e ever responds. Dan653 (talk) 16:18, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Just contacted TheGoofyGolfer. Hopefully they'll actually be available... :) Theopolisme TALK 19:13, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the revert, but just so you know, Alpha Phi Omega is ΑΦΩ, not ΑΡΩ. Given recent vandalism on that page, you may have reason to know this. :( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naraht (talk • contribs)

Hi Achowat! I just notice that my student, User:Vishal14k, went out for a 10 months wikibreak. What shall I do now? ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 12:45, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- If it were me, I would drop a question on hir Talk Page, asking if this means s/he'd like to stop your mentorship. If you hear back, great and try to work out a solution. If, say, 5 days go by and you haven't heard from hir, I'd take that as evidence of an extended Wikibreak without any interaction. Achowat (talk) 12:50, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm a little bit more impatient and would say three days, but its up to you. If you don't here back could you remove him from you students, so we can assign you someone else? Dan653 (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
Graduation
When they get rollback are students automatically graduated because I distincly remeber you saying that it shouldn't be 100% based on edit count and rbk, but what the student feels, not what we think. With that in mind I saw that Katana was just graduated, even though e had been inactive. I find that ridiculous, I mean like e is going to come back and be like wow I didn't do anything and I graduated, wtf? Dan653 (talk) 16:07, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yunshui has a long history of Adoption and helping new users. That said, I don't think it would be inappropriate for you to drop him a line and explain your point. I think he may have misinterpreted my comments here. New Instructor rust, perhaps, but nothing worth blowing a gasket over. Achowat (talk) 16:12, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I will drop him a line, but next question if users already have rollback should it be standard procedure to give them a yellow check and ask what they intend to learn? I think it should. Dan653 (talk) 16:14, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds like a plan to me. There's no template for it (maybe Benzo can make us one, like {{tick}}, y'know?) Achowat (talk) 16:17, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

- DOUBLE (edit conflict) But if a user does not have rollback when entering the academy, and then they get rollback, do you graduate them then? (unless they want to learn Huggle or something like that, right?) Theopolisme TALK 16:22, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- I guess the question becomes "what does a user want?". If a User wants the basics of Counter Vandalism, then Rollback is ok. If they're looking for tool help, it's not. Graduation should be about Users learning what they came to learn. Achowat (talk) 16:23, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Clerk
Hi, what is this 'clerk' thing. Because it says on the enrolment page a clerk will come by shortly, so could you explain!?--Chip123456 (talk) 18:41, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi! We were actually discussing this last night. The clerk's job is to , , and students, plus manage the enrollment and status pages, more requests to inactive, add backlog template, etc. In the end , we came to the conclusion that all of the instructors are considered clerks. Looking at a current forecast, the chance of rain in Boston is 25% for 1:00 PM, 60% for 2:00 PM, 75% for 3:00 PM, 35% for 4:00 PM, and 40% for 5:00 PM.
