If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Hello, Abzeronow. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Whom God Hath Joined".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 02:00, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Abzeronow -- sorry about reverting your earlier edit to this article; I didn't realise it was by the draft creator, and out of context it looked like nonsense, but I now realise that you were trying to expand the plot summary. Are you intending to work on this further? The novel is clearly notable and I found a good source in Google Books [1]. Espresso Addict (talk) 16:09, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I do intend on working on it further. I've read the novel twice. Just haven't found the time to really finish the plot summary. Abzeronow (talk) 17:55, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A cup of coffee for you!

[edit]
Thank you for your many edits to 2019 in public domain. I also thanked you on the talk page of that article. Your work here makes you the most requested, published, accessed, and consulted authority on this topic. You are signalling an important social issue at a time when it is less popular, but the people who are seeking information on this topic are reading your work now.

I believe in the importance of what you are doing and thank you for the time and effort you put into developing this article. I hope you are enjoying yourself in Wikipedia - I see that you are fairly new here. I wish that I could offer more, but if my small comment or support can help with any project of yours, ping me and I will give it. Thanks. Blue Rasberry (talk) 15:38, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A new methodology for public domain articles

[edit]

To make the lists useful, and in reasonable size, I suggest:

  1. I think we should omit US authors, since, in USA, copyright duration depends on date of publication, not on author’s life. We should instead write some examples of works that entered public domain.
  2. In the Life+70 list, we should put only authors belong to countries that apply Life+70 laws (like European countries). Likewise, in the Life+50 list, we should put only authors belong to countries that apply Life+50 laws (like Canada, Egypt, etc.).--Maher27777 (talk) 20:12, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
While I see that proposed methodology would be more useful for Commons, I think European editors would probably appreciate seeing that for example, Margaret Mitchell's novel Gone with the Wind will have its European copyrights expire on January 1, 2020. As far as the second suggestion, we'd exclude Spain and India from appearing on these pages again because those don't have a Life + 70 or Life + 50 terms for the near future and in my opinion, it's not worth creating Life + 80 or Life + 60 lists to just include Spain or India. I am willing to be more selective of the US and UK authors that I put on these lists since I would like to reduce the anglocentric bias of English wikipedia as much as possible, but I'd need good criteria to narrow down which US or UK authors to include or exclude. @Maher27777: Abzeronow (talk) 18:09, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About the creation of the page 2022 in public domain?

The page is very import because in January 1st, 2022 author who died in 1951 will be enter in public domain in the countries which the copyright lenght is Life+70 years of the death of the author and no one administrator answered my discussion abuou 2022 in public domain.

I see no rush to create it. I'm still working on filling in 2021 in public domain, and there is plenty of time between now and 2022 to create and fill out that page. Check with me after the New Year. Abzeronow (talk) 17:59, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Images moved from en.Wikipedia to Commons

[edit]

Thanks for fixing the German Reed image licensing. In my experience, User:Fastily (among others) moves numerous images from en.Wikipedia to Commons and gives them inadequate licenses. Then he has the images deleted from en.Wikipedia. Then, someone on Commons notices that the images there do not have adequate licensing and has them deleted from Commons, and they are lost to the encyclopedia. -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:22, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tod Browning

[edit]

Dear Abzeronow - Thank you for restoring the images on the Tod Browning article. Most of the images were gratuitously removed by the Commons establishment. My efforts to enlist their support was met with "I'm to busy" excuses. Their demands to "prove" the legitimacy were issued like bench warrants.

I suspect, but not certain, that the disciplinary reaction was influenced by my User Page postings, parodies of Emily Dickinson and Wiki Administrators. That, in itself, is perhaps gratifying. --38.80.237.251 (talk) 17:53, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1926 works entering the public domain made it easier to restore those. Next year, the 1927 images should be restored as well. (I believe I added them so admins at Commons will undelete them on New Years without any intervention on my part. I'll restore to images to the articles once they're restored to Commons). Abzeronow (talk) 15:45, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You may note, however, that a number of images that I posted with Commons were not deleted, although they date well after 1927, even on those articles that they made other wholesale deletions. Wikipedia is peppered with thousands of images that Commons sees fit to leave unmolested. It is a pity that the images deleted from the Tod Browning article, especially those dealing with Freaks (1932), could not have been legitimized. Nothing very savory here. --50.227.224.56 (talk) 17:18, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Salvation Hunters (1925)

[edit]

Thank you restoring the images to this article. The seminal work by Sternberg. Did you know that the female protagonist, Georgia Hale was selected by Charlie Chaplin to star opposite him in The Gold Rush (1925), based on her performance alone? CerroFerro (talk) 16:44, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, I did not know that, but it definitely was a pleasure to request undeletion for those images. It definitely sounds like a film I should watch one of these days. Abzeronow (talk) 16:48, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you tell me on what basis the images were originally deleted? Just curious. CerroFerro (talk) 16:25, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They were this DR, C:Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by CerroFerro. Actually, I see a few more photos I can request undeletion on now (my UDR request was before 1927 works entered the public domain in the US). Abzeronow (talk) 16:35, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you would be so kind, please proceed with the other undeletions.
As to Charlie Chaplin and Georgia Hale, a book was recently written about their professional relationship on the set of The Gold Rush, Charlie Chaplin: Intimate Close-Ups (1995). Just discovered this myself. Best Regards. CerroFerro (talk) 17:13, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Undeletion of 1927 files and a 1925 file is complete. I added the Undelete in 2024 for The Last Command files so those should be restored next year without any action from me (unless I become an administrator on Commons in the meantime). I've heard Children of Divorce is a great film and helping to restore a now-free image of Gary Cooper and Clara Bow feels good. Abzeronow (talk) 16:54, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abzeronow: I have seen the following permission message on hundreds of images available at Wiki Commons, even when the image was created less than 95 years ago. How is the legitimacy determined for these photos? --CerroFerro (talk) 13:54, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

{{PD-US-not renewed}}

Usually the renewal database is checked for titles or authors matching descriptions and if they aren't found in the renewal database, that is how the nonrenewal of published works from 1928 to 1963 would be checked. Artwork seems to be trickier to do that for though. As previously mentioned, next year all the 1928 files that you uploaded will get undeleted and in time, the other files will also get undeleted. Film stills would fall under the film's copyright, and usually the copyrights for films were renewed (URAA restored the copyright of foreign films that had their US copyrights lapse and obviously some films were not renewed, those are usually well-known for not having their copyright renewed). ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:50, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

CommonsDelinker & such

[edit]

Greetings: Back in March of 2022 you restored an image to The Exquisite Sinner (1926), for which I thank you. Do you have a moment to check a number of images that were Delinked back in 2019 at The Case of Lena Smith. Are these eligible for re-posting? Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:45, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1929 film, it will definitely be restored next year. Abzeronow (talk) 18:52, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As an alternate method, can I use Wikipedia, not Commons, to create and post an image, like this, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The_Spider%27s_House,_by_Paul_Bowles._Random_House_first_edition,_1955.jpg --Lord Such&Such (talk) 20:00, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock review on Wikimedia Commons

[edit]

Hi Abzeronow, do you have administrator rights on Wikimedia Commons? If so, may I please a request on the unblock of my Wikimedia Commons? My apologies for making a request on Wikipedia instead of Wikimedia Commons. I can't post or do anything on there because I'm blocked, so I flipped on to here. I want to ask you to take a review at the unblock of my account on Wikimedia Commons, I was blocked by Taivo for 1 month again due to copyright reasons. I have explained everything in my Commons user talk page at the very last bottom when you scroll down to the unblock review. Please review it and unblock me. Because I have pledged to not further upload copyright violations. Here's the link to this. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:KhantWiki#/editor/41 KhantWiki (talk) 18:47, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have told KhantWiki not to use Wikipedia to contact editors in relation to matters applying to Commons. He has talk page access on Commons. JBW (talk) 19:41, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, JBW. I don't think the user knew that contacting editors on Wikipedia about matters on Commons is frowned upon. Abzeronow (talk) 19:45, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies to you both JBW and Abzeronow, I have not been aware that it is frowned upon contacting editors on Wikipedia, I have no choice to do because I am blocked access to comment on user talk pages on Wikimedia Commons. KhantWiki (talk) 20:21, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For future reference, KhantWiki, I can be contacted by email on Commons. Abzeronow (talk) 20:29, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much Abzeronow, also to JBW, I didn't really know that and I'm not really aware that editors do frowned upon users who are contacting them on Wikipedia with stuff related to Wikimedia Commons. If so, I apologize if my actions are inappropriate. I was blocked talk page access on contacting editors there. And yes I would like to contact you by email, if that's appropriate. Once again I'm sorry about my actions. I don't have any problems on Wikipedia, not at all, I didn't commit any vandalism or things that affect Wikipedia, since it's free of copyright here, it's easy for me to avoid problems. Only on Wikimedia Commons, I have lots of problems due to copyright. KhantWiki (talk) 20:40, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
