[edit]Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Paul McGrath (footballer), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:20, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- Read more carefully next time.
- The data that I added WAS included in a source ALREADY cited in the article (see note 16) and I restructured the article to include the additional data accordingly. The source is this
- Austin, Simon (27 October 2006). "McGrath back from the brink". BBC Sport. Retrieved 26 February 2010. (This in turn is based on McGrath's biography, which I could equally have cited.)
- But anyway, the BBC page is ALREADY cited in the article, so if it is not a "reliable source" you should be cutting that reference out and the linked data as well. If it is a reliable source, well then you should be vandalising articles.
- If you actually bother to go to this page, you will see for instance that it says
- '"I vividly remember the Stanley knife and the blood pouring on to the floor. Come to think of it, I remember the au pair's screams too."
- With alcoholism threatening to ruin his football career and marriage, Paul McGrath slashed his wrists as he sat in his bedroom with his young son in November 1989.
- McGrath says it was a "cry for help", unlike later suicide attempts, and a few days later he played in midfield for Aston Villa against Everton.
- He wore large sweatbands to cover the scars on his wrists and starred in a 6-2 win.'
- This section alone corresponds to a lot of detail such as I included. It is also a very important subject to talk about. Self harm is a very important subject to lots of people, and we need to talk about it frankly, not censor it like this. McGrath obviously agrees, otherwise he wouldn't have put it in his book, would he? If people who are suffering don't get to know about cases like this they may end up feeling more isolated, which could make their problems worse.
- No I don't need a guide "for beginners" thank you very much.
- And no I am not wasting time trying to put that data back in the article to satisfy people who don't read it carefully enough, life’s too short to be jerked around like this AaronAhoun (talk) 11:57, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Overlinking
[edit]Hello. Do you think you could read MOS:DUPLINK please? It'll show you the way in which we don't link every occurrence of the same thing. MOS:SEAOFBLUE is also worth a read from the same page. It helps. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 17:12, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- I've read those
- On the subject of "Leftism" [sic] spinners, etc, perhaps you should read these
- WP:NOBITING
- WP:SPELLING AaronAhoun (talk) 21:01, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for picking the typing error; I'm crap at that. Other than that, I'm glad you don't need a guide for beginners, but it probably helps you know. Blue Square Thing (talk) 22:29, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
