Dubai
Hello AgnosticPreachersKid. When you edited Jumeirah Beach Hotel, I decided it was time that the article got a makeover. {{Unreferenced}} and {{Advert}} had been there too long. I knew that if I did not improve it at that time, then I would never do it. When I was done, I thought that maybe I had included some POV. But, you did not mention it, so I guess I did a good job.
You said "we have the same interest in Dubai." So I thought you may be interested in WikiProject Dubai. I am currently setting up the project with another user. As of now, it is on a temporary page. If you are interested, go to User:Raime/WikiProject Dubai to add your name. Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 19:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to try to write my first article...about the Dubai Marina Towers. I don't believe the building project has its own article yet. I've been editing article the past 2 weeks or so to get some experience before creating an article, but alas, I don't even see the button to create one. Plus, is it appropriate to use the images of the towers I found or is that considered copyrighted material?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:09, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- What do you mean by "Dubai Marina Towers?" Are you referring to these buildings? If you are, they already have articles: Mesk Tower and Murjan Tower (Dubai). If not, can you provide a link to those images you are referring to so I can see them?
- And if you need to know how to create an article, go to Help:Starting a new page. If you need any help, let me know. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 20:52, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, my bad. I didn't see those articles. Don't know if you saw this story today, but it might be noteworthy in one of the articles: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080120194438.btvx361t&show_article=1 --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 21:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- I do not think that the DreamWorks theme park is that important. But, if you feel that it deserves a mention in the the DreamWorks article, I am sure that it would be a welcome addition. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Political Debate
In my opinion, all political parties are bad. Though America was intended to be a democracy, the government is run by the parties, not the people. The people running the parties are only a small minority, yet they control the entire country. In fact, the Democratic and Republican parties would rather have one of the other get elected than have an Independent in the government. George Washington, who was one of the wisest men of his time, said that "They [political parties] serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community." What makes your party better than the Democrats or Republicans if someone were to be elected from your party? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4like234 (talk • contribs) 16:35, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hello. Thanks for your opinion on politics. I pretty much agree with what you said, but (excuse me if i come across as rude) what brought you to my user page and what were you referencing?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 16:56, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I was just doing some random browsing and I happened to see your name in the history, and I decided to take a look :) By the way, the reference is to George Washington's Farewell Address, with the quote from http://www.laughtergenealogy.com/bin/history/politics.html. --4like234 (talk) 04:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
RDU/Userboxes
i didn't know that the days weren't supposed to be included (the delta flight to cancun)...thanks for the heads up...i'm new to editing, so mistakes are inevitable. p.s. i'm sure you've been asked before, but how do you get the user boxes, etc. on your profile? gracias.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:49, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. In terms of userboxes- I don't know where to really get them- I just cut and paste from other people's profiles...haha. But you can try This page and near the bottom there are categories of different userboxes. To format them on your userpage, I don't know the best way to do that so I'll just include what I used and change my info with yours: just replace my info with yours...hope this helps somewhat. If you still have questions just ask. Sox23 23:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Jena 6
Hi. Your edit removed this reference to a British newspaper[1], which discusses Jena and "stealth racism". Catchpole (talk) 08:18, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- The phrase "new stealth racism that lives on in the United States" is POV. I left the NPR and BBC references when I edited the article. I tried to rephrase the paragraph to give it a more NPOV description. What did I remove that is wrong? I'm not being rude or anything, just really wanting to know. Thanks. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Ok. If that wording is allowed, then shouldn't the argument that reverse discrimination is also part of the town's story in relation to the case? BTW, I fixed the wording in the last sentence...added "was." See, I can be helpful. ;)--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you find a reliable source that talks about Jena in that context then feel free to add it. Catchpole (talk) 08:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Dubai population
Did you want to leave the population table the way it is or update it with the 2006 population found right beside it. If you think it should stay the same since it has the census from every 10 years (1985, 1995, 2005), then that's totally cool.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:22, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think we should probably update the information located in the infobox at the top of the page; keep the information in the table in the Demographics section the same; and update the text in the Demographics section. Do you have a source for the 2007 population? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:42, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- All I can find is the 2006 population, but I'll keep searching. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:10, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Dubai Building Mergers
i want to help merge some of the articles mentioned on the project page, but i've never merged an article before. i've tried to search for the instructions on the wiki help pages, but i think it's the move button at top? i don't want to mess with it in case i'm doing it wrong. anyway, sorry to bug you about it, but if you can tell me how to merge articles i'd appreciate it.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:36, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- There is no button to merge articles. You have to "do it by hand." First, go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dubai#Dubai skyscrapers: merger proposals and choose a complex that has not yet been merged. Since the only ones that are left (save Emirates Towers, but that one is currently questionable) do not have articles for the complex, you should first create one. As an example, use Churchill Towers. After that, create the talk page for that new article. You should include the project banners for WikiProject Architecture, WikiProject Skyscrapers, and WikiProject Dubai. Then below that, add a statement about the merger. Use Talk:Jumeirah Al Khor as an example. Then, you should go the pages that will be merged into the new one and replace all the information with
#REDIRECT [[NEW MERGED ARTICLE NAME HERE]] {{R from merge}}
. Use http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Jumeirah_Al_Khor_Residence&action=edit as an example. Then, go to their talk pages and replace the information with#REDIRECT [[Talk:NEW MERGED ARTICLE NAME HERE]]
. But, this should only be done if the only thing on the talk page are project banners. If there are other things, such as a discussion or an AFD tag, use Talk:Churchill Residency and Talk:Emirates Park Tower 1 as examples. After that, go back to where you started to cross out the articles that were merged. You should inlcude an edit summary for each edit you make. Follow the same format as the summaries User:Raime and I have been using.- thanks for the instructions. it seems kinda complicated and maybe i should wait until i'm more familiar with the site until i merge...cause like i said before, i don't want to screw anything up. lol. BTW, you've probably already seen this site, but i found it today and thought you might like to see it.[2] —Preceding unsigned comment added by AgnosticPreachersKid (talk • contribs) 01:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- If I did not make any sense, or you need further assistance, just let me know. And I will keep track of your mergers to see if you are doing them correclty or if there is anything that you should know about. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 01:22, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Bwkodiak/Riley Skinner
Hi. Regarding Bwkodiak (talk · contribs) and Riley Skinner, it's helpful to explain the issue to the user rather than leaving a vandalism template and reverting his question on your talk page. The reason this content is inappropriate is because of WP:BLP. Everyone adding it is doing so in good faith - the content is obviously 100% completely inappropriate for Wikipedia until such time as the news media picks up on it, but it's still helpful to engage users with information about the biographies of living persons policy rather than to call the additions vandalism. --B (talk) 01:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip. The reason I left the vandalism template was because the article had been vandalized several times within the past few minutes by different people and I thought he/she was vandalizing as well. I'll try to find a message template showing the actual edit, etc. the next time I leave a message for someone in regards to possible vandalism or bad editing. About reverting the comment on my userpage...I did that because I don't want arguments to start on my userpage.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:42, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- CAT:UWT gives the full litany of warning templates that you can use. Also, if you use Firefox, you can install WP:TWINKLE, which gives you, among other things, a friendly menu that helps you choose the warning to leave. But if there isn't a warning that says what you want to say, it's always ok to leave a personal message. --B (talk) 02:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

- I could have sworn that there used to be a template specifically for that purpose (warning users who add themselves/their friends/their birthdate/other non-notable personal stuff to lists). I looked and couldn't find it, so the one you picked is as good as anything else I suppose. I fixed your signature, though ... it was missing a span tag. If that was from your signature and not the template, you may want to check and see that it is setup right. --B (talk) 02:38, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Kinston
I don't get what you are doing with Kinston. There are quite enough notable people who were actually born there without including everyone who has ever resided there. Everyone who has ever played for Kinston's baseball teams, for example, has resided there. Then, oddly enough, despite broadening the category, you feel the need to eliminate people who were genuinely born there. If you don't feel they are notable and they are self-promotional as you claimed in your edit note, put their articles up for afd. Two of the four you eliminated are gospel performers and one of the others is a conservative activist which makes one wonder what your true intentions in eliminating those specific people are. It is my position that as long as they have valid Wikipedia articles that haven't been deleted through consensus over time, they are, by definition, notable by Wikipedia's standards. Kinston eagle (talk) 02:33, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, my "true intention" is to make it a great article. (see WP:FAITH) Please don't accuse me of having an agenda when you don't even know me. Someone being a gospel singer (even though i'm agnostic, i am related to christians in La Grange and don't hate christians) or a conservative politician (i'm a conservative libertarian btw) is not the reason I removed them. They don't seem noteworthy, especially the activist. I'll put them back since you're having a conniption, but once again, don't accuse people.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:42, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Also, look at lists in other cities and towns. Many of them include notable people that at some point lived in the town. Please don't try to be "cute" and use the Kinston Indians example because that is an exception for Kinston.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

HELP
{{help}} How do I revert an article to the version before an edit war? 76.220.202.205, a sock puppet of Leaveout, is making ALOT of POV edits to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Theo van Gogh (film director) articles. Both of these articles are of controversial people and a few of us have tried to tell the User to stop making the edits without building a consensus on the talk page. He/She will not stop editing. I've reported the article to be protected, but no help has come. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to revert an article back to an earlier version. I only know how to revert the last edit done to an article.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Click on the history, tab, select the version that you want to revert to, this will load up the old version of the page, click edit, and it will give you an warning that your editing an old version of the page. put in a edit summary, and then click save. Distruptive wheel wars can be reported if this continues.--KerotanLeave Me a Message Have a nice day :) 13:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

thanks for protecting the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article, but the POV vandalism made by the User is now the current version. Is it possible to revert it back to the version before the editing of Leaveout and his/her sockpuppet 76.220.202.205 because now the article is stuck just the way he/she wanted it. Thanks.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hehe, in a dispute, it's a norm to always protect the "wrong version"(tm), i.e. the latest revision. the onlyh think I could do is to revert to an revision that is before any of you started editing the article (so I can be objective). →AzaToth 13:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- thanks. that what i had meant, revert it to the version before the whole thing happened. also, the same user is vandalizing and violating the WP:3RR policy on a related article, Theo van Gogh (film director). Can you revert back to the original version before the editing war and protect that one as well? Thank you.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's allways difficult to find the exact revision when the "edit war" started, sometimes there are an exact revision, sometimes (most often), there are none. I'll see if there are any clear revision available. →AzaToth 13:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention that 76.221.187.73 is a sock puppet of the same person. All you have to do is look at the edit history and compare it to the other two users and you'll see the edits to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article. Burning
Yes, it's true all sinners will burn in hell. Fortunately, given Global Warming, it won't be too much of a change. That reminds me... Falwell had wanted to be cremated, but the Fire Marshall nixed it due to an ordinance restricting the size of fires. That's too bad, as he could have made a significant dent in his school's energy bill for a month or so. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 14:48, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- When I met Jerry, I shook his hand. He was very nice and friendly. While I was shaking his hand, I thought to myself "Wow, what a nice guy." Then I snapped out of it and realized he thinks I helped cause 9/11.[5] --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- There's the impersonal and there's the personal. I'm sure he was just fine on a personal level. When Jim Bouton wrote Ball Four, sportswriter Dick Young called his kind "social lepers". When Bouton questioned him, he said, "I hope you didn't take it personally," thus providing the title for Bouton's next book. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 16:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Hey man, glad you picked up on the error! I've been through the SC town and didn't realize there was also a Greenville, NC....hence I leaped to a mistaken conclusion. Also, didn't realize you were working on GA status, or I wouldn't have messed with the article at all. Good luck with that! :o) Textorus (talk) 02:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Formatting References
Hi, you would do well to start using a cite format every time you add a reference. This will help others see the quality of the citation as well as date when this information was on the page in question. In this way we can use an online archive to access the content even if his website were to disappear. Click edit to see formatting appearance in articles.
Please note - access date format 2007-06-16. Benjiboi 08:02, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not quite familiar with that kind of sourcing, so I'll have to read up on it. I just know how to insert the reference tab that is shown and pasting the URL. I didn't know there was another way to cite a source.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Jay
I hope you don't think I'm being a dick. That's just one of my pet peeves...labelling gay people that don't want to be known as "the gay" person. People that prefer to be labelled or known for being gay is cool with me, just not people that don't like it. But yeah, I think the rewrite Leibovits suggested is ok as well...if that info has to be included.
- p.s. I use to live in Pensacola and I made my way to Mobile, Biloxi, and New Orleans all the time. I remember reading you're a Mississippian and wondered if you ever went to Pensacola for the Memorial Day weekend festivities, or more importantly, Southern Decadence? I went to S.D. one time and almost got pregnant, so I did not return.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- All of the magazine interviews he's been in, many he proudly hosts on his own web site, have sections where he talks about being out and gay - which doesn't give much weight to the notion that he doesn't want to be labelled or be known for being gay. Granted, being gay is not *just* who any of us are but he's made sure to mention it a bijillion times so why can't it be mentioned in an article about him on Wikipedia? It just doesn't make sense to me.
- Yes, I've been to the festivities in Pensacola. Once, and that was enough for me. The oil slick in the ocean from all the hair spray, hair gel and infinite brand names of lube was enough to give Greenpeace a stroke. As for S.D., I lived in New Orleans for 3 years and *did* get pregnant there! But I put a ring on my baby's daddy and made him pack his bags and move to Beverleeeee.. err, Mississippeeeee. :P - ✰ALLSTAR✰ echo 08:43, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

- It was definitely a ghetto area, and yes there were several gay bars there. Two strip clubs, a bathhouse, porn shop, and 4 or 5 clubs. Nation was one of the largest clubs (gay or hetero) between NYC and Atlanta. I also just realized there's an article for Nation and I'm going to add it in a bit.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:13, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I added the LGBT reference. I feel like there should be at least another sentence or two, but I'm not sure what to say. It was definitely a big social area before the places were torn down for the new stadium. I added a reference for Nation...if you look at my user page and click on the link below "R.I.P. Nation" you'll see a viode clip from the closing night. One of the best nights I've ever had (not because it was closing)...sooo much fun.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 07:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Werdnawerdna
In response to your request for me to add citations to the addition I made to the Washington D.C. paragraph about the 2002 Snipers earlier this month, I feel sure that I don't need to enter any, as the additions that I added to it are a matter of common knowledge, and the info I added is easily confirmed via the archives of many news sites. In addition, good citations are given on the Wikipedia page Beltway sniper attacks, which I linked to. Though the majority of those serial shootings did not actually take place within D.C., they were centred on that city, and they are strongly associated with it, to the extent that the Muhammad and Malvo are very often referred to as the Washington snipers. For the article to be complete, the info I added, incuding a link to the aforementioned serial killings must be included in the History portion of the article as they are, unfortunately, a major part of the U.S. capital's recent history. If you still think I need to add any citations, please tell me exactly what I need to prove. I only started editing Wikipedia last month (January 2008).
