Welcome!

Hello, ABBRobotics, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Robotstudio, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may soon be deleted.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robotstudio, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Scopecreep (talk) 10:35, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that the username you have chosen (ABBRobotics) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of what username you choose. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Request reason:

Your reason here Hey Alexf, I apologize if my actions were against Wikipedia policies. The account was created soley to correct errors in our page. I will change the username and will not write articles which is against the rules of Wikipedia. I work with ABBRobotics and I use this account only to make corrective changes for the page and nothing else. I request you to please unblock the account so that I can use it to edit so taht correct inoformation is available to the readers. thank You!!

Accept reason:

I'm unblocking you under the conditions you agree to below. You should not directly edit in realtion to your company because of your WP:COI. If you want to make a change, you should propose it on the talk page. You should also go to WP:CHUS and change your username to something that does not violate our WP:Username policy as soon as possible. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:12, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Alexf: I'm not going to make any decision here and just wanted to ping Alexf, but I do have to extend these cautions:
  1. Wikipedia heavily discourages direct editing if you have a conflict of interest in most situations, as it's so easy to write a promotional article without meaning to. This was the reason for the deletion of Robotstudio and one of the main things you need to know is that Wikipedia is not a place to promote or raise awareness for your product or company.
  2. Any corrections to an article must be backed up with coverage that explicitly verifies the claims.
  3. Robotstudio's article lacked coverage in independent and reliable sources per WP:RS and offhand I don't see where ABBRobotics has an article either. If your goal is to create an article then you should only do this via WP:AfC. However even with that you will still need to assert notability for the software per WP:GNG, as software is not automatically notable because of existence (WP:ITEXISTS) or because it might be used by notable people/organizations (WP:NOTINHERITED). I have no true opinion on notability and I'm mostly saying this as a warning ahead of time.
Anywho, these are my biggest concerns and ones I'm sure that Alexf would have as far as an unblock goes, so I'm putting these here now so you can be prepared for his questions. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:45, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Tokyogirl179 - Thank you for the heads up. However, RobotStudio was created without an intention of promoting any product by a colleague. I do not want to start the page, I would just like to change one fact in the ABB page, from 200,000 to 300,000 robots sold. That is all I need to do. The claim can be verified on the www.abb.com/robotics webpage. Just wanted all our pages to uniformly reflect this fact. I work with ABB Robotics and will edit if and only if necessary, nothing else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ABBRobotics (talkcontribs)

See, This statement right here makes me think you should not be editing an article where you are engaged with the subject off-wiki, and that you do not understand how wikipedia works well enough. Wikipedia requires (preferably multiple) Neutral, Reliable Sources - not a self-published website or blog. The only way I would be maybe comfortable unblocking you right now would be if you agreed not to edit pages related to your employer/robotics - and if you changed your username. I honestly just want to change one small number to reflect the fact. I do not and have not meddled with any other form of editing for our pages. I do understand the ethics and how Wikipedia works. I have been watching the ABB page for a while now and even though other places reflects the change of that one number, wiki does not. I will be happy to change the username, very gladly. I will not edit the pages, but it bothers me that the numbers are not right. Please do take a call as you see fit. Thank You.
