Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, 82james82, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 11:56, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you YesI'mOnFire - love your work!
I am not affiliated nor do I work for the mentioned company.
I am planning to write about a range of DeepTech startups in my city Berlin, I have run a similar snapshot of Berlin tech companies for a tech publisher and want to slowly get back into this space after Paternity leave.
what needs to be amended to get this and future posts live?

Could you please elaborate what you mean by this? I'm afraid I do not understand. Ali Beary (talk2me!) 13:00, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ali,
Apologies - I’m a bit confused about the tag and the subsequent deletion.
I was hoping to understand what specifically went wrong with my writing to warrant the tag, and now the deletion and blocking of my account?
Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
James 82james82 (talk) 19:27, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
James, your account was blocked because your username seems promotional and you edited for a business article where it looked like you were editing for a COI, or conflict of interest. The topic, I believe, was Tripleye. Moderators assumed that you worked for the company. To be unblocked, you need to change your username to a less business-looking name, and, if they ask, find a way to prove you have no connection to Tripleye. Thanks! Ali Beary (talk2me!) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:82james82/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or website, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:56, 12 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi there - I am unsure why the previous username caused problems, and also don't understand the allegation of advertising or promoting, as this is not the case. I am writing about influential deep tech companies in Germany.

Accept reason:

The blocking admin clearly made an error here. The deletion may have been justified, but a spam+username violation indefinite hardblock was not. El Beeblerino if you're not into the whole brevity thing 22:06, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! Can you tell me why you were interested in creating the Tripleye article? Do you have any connections with Tripleye? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 00:30, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I created the Tripleye article to highlight a Berlin-based DeepTech company, with an important history - connected to one of the most important autonomous vehicle projects in history—the Prometheus (Forschungsprogramm) under Daimler, which pioneered autonomous vehicles a decade before the 2004 DARPA challenge. The founder of Tripleye was the builder of this.
As someone with experience writing for other German startup tech publications, I wanted to reconnect with this field after paternity leave. Starting with Tripleye felt meaningful given its deep ties to Germany’s legacy in autonomous systems innovation. Thank you for considering this context. 82james82 (talk) 10:27, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So....you're not connected to Tripleye? Why pick this company, and not another, to edit about? 331dot (talk) 10:48, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I chose to start with this company because of my interest in autonomous vehicles and the automotive industry in Germany. My work is focused on the tech space here, and Tripleye stands out as a Berlin-based company in the AV sector with a significant historical connection to the development of autonomous vehicles in Germany. I am not affiliated with the company. 82james82 (talk) 16:33, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can you tell me what is wrong with the lead of your draft, and the sourcing of it more generally? 331dot (talk) 16:58, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(Tripleye is an integrated technology solution advancing the future of intelligent machines across a range of industries with cutting-edge autonomous systems and modules.
The company equips engineering teams with the tools needed to enable fully autonomous vehicles or specific autonomous functionalities. Its camera-based approach, rather than relying on LiDAR, delivers unmatched visual detail, scalability, affordability, and versatility.
By leveraging advanced computer vision and AI technologies, Tripleye provides innovative solutions that empower teams to build intelligent systems tailored to their unique operational demands. The company’s patented technology, developed by an experienced team.....) 331dot (talk) 16:58, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be clear, this is about the block that was issued with bad reasoning regarding your username. You aren't required in any way to participate in the discussion if you don't want to, but I am required to inform you of its existence. Tripleye

[edit]

James, please take a look at 2 guidelines we have that would apply to an article about Tripleye:

The English language Wikipedia has very high requirements for articles about companies. They have to meet those notability rules using reliable sources as defined above. That excludes material such as press releases and “churnalism”. We do not require reliable sources be in English.

Additionally, these articles have to be neutral and “encyclopaedic”, not promotional. The material quoted above by 331dot is blatantly promotional in tone.

Don’t be disappointed if Tripleye doesn’t meet our requirements for inclusion; we have multi-billion dollar companies in the Fortune 500 that don’t qualify according to our rules. (Personally, I think these rules are too strict but I don’t make rules; they’re a product of consensus within the editing community.)

I hope this is helpful. If Tripleye meets our requirements for inclusion, we certainly want a non-promotional article about it. —A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 22:25, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I’m sorry we started out a bit hostile; we’re besieged by spammers and promotional articles and all of us can get a bit tetchy at times. —A. B. (talk • contribs • global count) 22:50, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I truly appreciate the prompt and helpful correspondence on this—it speaks volumes about the dedication of the Wikipedia community and team. I’m genuinely impressed and grateful for your time and support. I’ll make every effort to improve moving forward.
