Hello, and thank you for your recent contribution. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Flag of the Solomon Islands

[edit]

I note your reversion of 'the'in Solomon Islands and I understand your thinking on this one but logic does not prevail here. The actual, UN gazetted English language name of the nation and its constitutional name is 'Solomon Islands', not 'The Solomon Islands'. 'The Solomon islands' refers to the geographical name of the archipelago, which covers a different set of islands and extends into PNG. Similar to Le Côte d'Ivoire not being Le Côte d'Ivoire. This was done consciously to reinforce the idea that it was a sovereign entity and not a continuation of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate. The war in the Solomon Islands would be correct for WW2 at least because it was fought in the islands, not the nation. This is discussed elsehwer and, except for the name of the page, which needs changing sometime, is consistent use throughout with pages referring either to the archipelago/protectorate or to the nation.

Also, I would strongly recommend that you register a Username rfather than work from an IP address as it makes communicating very difficult. Ex nihil (talk) 02:41, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at The Dukes of Hazzard. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Please read it again, it says and I quote "In geographical references that include multiple levels of subordinate divisions (e.g., city, state/province, country), a comma separates each element and follows the last element unless followed by other punctuation. Dates in month–day–year format require a comma after the day, as well as after the year, unless followed by other punctuation. In both cases, the last element is treated as parenthetical." You are misinterpreting it. Chris "WarMachineWildThing" Talk to me 01:42, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at Baywatch, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. JesseRafe (talk) 20:18, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Baywatch shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
