Request for RevisionDeletion
Hi 28bytes,
Could you please revdelete the following diff on my user page so that the edit summary is hidden: [1]. I changed my committed identity, only, however, I forgot what the new identity was, so I reverted it back. The edit summary could be misleading to administrators in the case of a hijack. :P Michaelzeng7 (talk) 19:07, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- Done. 28bytes (talk) 15:16, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks!!

Topic ban
I would like to contest the topic ban that has been placed on me. Is there a forum where this can be done? Also, there is no indication of how long the topic ban is for or whether it is permanent. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 05:02, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Sure, just start a new thread at WP:AN requesting a review. I closed it as "indefinite", meaning if wouldn't expire automatically: you'd need to request the topic ban be lifted. 28bytes (talk) 05:05, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. It is not actually explicitly stated as indefinite. -- Alan Liefting (talk - contribs) 05:17, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you very much...You're the number one! Are you also an user or administrator of WikiTravel? --Simonemb (talk) 22:43, 19 October 2012 (CEST)
- No, I'm afraid not. 28bytes (talk) 21:09, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
Sorry if this looks like spam
So the bureaucrats handle username changes is that right? Your name was the only one showing on the list. Where can I cancel a request that I put in for a new username? CHCSPrefect (talk) 08:26, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there. Looks like someone has already tagged the request as "hold", so you're free to take your time selecting a new name. 28bytes (talk) 15:08, 18 October 2012 (UTC)

He recreated the JoseFan12 account one day after the rename, and then went to the SoapFan12 account to reply to comments. Then went off to do other editing. I'm unfamiliar with the rename process. Is it possible he didn't know it happened? Syrthiss (talk) 11:36, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, quite possible. I'll leave a note on the SoapFan12 talk page, hopefully he will see it. 28bytes (talk) 21:11, 19 October 2012 (UTC)
request...
I saw this - so I thought I'd ask: Would you consider serving on Arbcom? I have no doubts whatsoever that you would be a great benefit to the project in that role. Think about it? — ChedZILLA 03:12, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- I'll gladly second this request. 76Strat String da Broke da (talk) 04:56, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

- Well, thank you all for the votes of confidence; I'm quite honored you'd think I'd be useful there. But frankly, it sounds like a truly awful job. Every case I've commented on depresses me to read; I can't even imagine having to read and evaluate all the cases they get. 28bytes (talk) 15:25, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
- I understand. - I think Wikipedia should be able to function without any Arbcom, - what I observe is not helpful, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:21, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Alan Liefting topic ban
On 17 October, you notified User:Alan Liefting of his topic ban: "you may not make any category-related edit outside of the article namespace." I dropped him a note yesterday indicating that he had violated it a few times: User talk:Alan Liefting#Topic ban enacted, to which he replied (so he was aware of the problem). Today, he made the kind of edit that lead to the topic ban in the first place: removing categories from a file[2]. I would probably be seen as involved in this, so it's better if I don't take any action. Fram (talk) 07:22, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

- Hi Fram. I'm back online after some travel, but it appears that CBM has followed up on this in my absence. Thanks for the heads-up. 28bytes (talk) 18:42, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
RfA reply
Hi Jc37. I think you might misunderstand the purpose of this reply of mine. It was not to criticize Tijfo098's opposition of the RfA, but to address his seeming implication that my opposition to a site ban for Br'er Rabbit was somehow untoward or cabal-ly. I oppose lots of site bans, even of people I usually disagree with (and, interestingly enough, even for people I've indef-blocked.) I hope you don't mind my replying here; I didn't want to increase the thread depth there and thought this might be a less charged place for us to converse. 28bytes (talk) 20:30, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for the note. I was merely commenting on the last part of your comments, because it seems to me that there are those who seem to be confusing trusting an editor to be an editor, and trusting an editor with additional tools. And your comment seemed to be reinforcing that. My apologies for any confusion.
- Anyway, all that aside... sooo. Are you sitting there wondering if I've lost my mind? (As strong a defender of AGF, and second chances that I tend to be.) Especially since I had been friendly with rlevse in the past, annd even supported him for arbcom? - jc37 22:27, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- No, I don't think you've lost your mind. I will admit that your... shall we say, robust? opposition is not fun to read, but I was under no illusions that everyone shared my positive view of him when I offered to nominate him. I hate seeing the pile-on, but there ain't a lot I can do about it. He's going to have to sit there and take it, as is the RfA custom. 28bytes (talk) 22:39, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Note: If you see anywhere where you feel I have crossed the line to civility anywhere, I would greatly appreciate a note, as that has not been my intention.
- But anyway, nod. (Robust is fine. Trying to think of a better word. I know what I mean, but can't think of the right word atm.)
- Honestly I was rather shocked that he tried this. As far as I saw, He's really only not indef blocked (to perhaps even being eventually community banned) because so many of us tend to not like banning, especially for people who can and do positively contribute. (Oh and because of you. But that's a whole other discussion.)
- And for the record, I'm not angry or emotional at all right now. I just don't think we should entrust such a puppeteer (amongst other things) with admin tools.
- The betrayal of trust here is egregious. And the infamous words from scotty come to mind about "fool me once...".
- You know, I've looked over the commenters on that page, and I'm seriously wondering: how many are rlevse or perhaps some meatpuppets in disguise... We'll never know. At this point, I don't believe CU could catch him easily. - jc37 23:01, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- All I can say is that I sincerely believe you have misjudged him. I see now from my watchlist that he's withdrawn, so it's a moot point anyway. It's probably time for me to take a break. I'm sure we'll meet again in happier circumstances. Until then, cheers. 28bytes (talk) 23:41, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
